Sniperwolf572 758 Posted July 31, 2006 Nice project, loving the blog, concept reminds me of SAS: Are you tough enough show, I think it's shown on BBC, tough I've watched it on one of the reality channels.

Yeah, catched Jungle, woodland and desert (never saw any winter, dunno if there was one) on swedish Channel 5 (Kanal 5), think it was BBC though. And hey, Sniper, long time no see EDIT: Oh. GoOB 0 Posted August 2, 2006 I was thinking of joining you lads one of these days. I've been playing since the demo, but to be blunt, I still suck arse (might do better than some of the new recruist though). I guess I'd need a microphon... So ehr... Sucking arse and not having a mic, does that ruin my chances of participating in one of the evening trainings?
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted August 2, 2006 BUZZARD @ July 31 2006,19:54)]What's the OPFOR's ToE? Standard OFP soviet stuff? Aye, JAM3 HD. During some exercises I use human OPFOR though. I asked you to join earlier, but couldnt since im danish and not swedish (I understand swedish though). Anyway, why can't we be a little group of english speaking lads playing on the opposit team? Like a patrol around the island?
BlackScorpion 0 Posted August 2, 2006 I'm Finnish, understand few words of Swedish... hell, might be a bit of OPFOR. Shooting Swedes...

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted August 2, 2006 great idea.. what kinda addons do we need?
dmakatra 1 Posted August 2, 2006 OK, first off, I appriciate your interest in the project, but I'd like to keep it simple. I often don't need any more help than the OFP-vets that I currently have involved in the project. Extra people equals extra server strain, extra waiting time, extra people crashing and going AI, etc. Lobbing in more people in something that already works also means extra time for me, which I don't have. Remember, this is an experiment. This isn't some kind of agency for whoring out games with CS-going-OFP-people.
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Maybe we should form an OPFOR training server for not-so-well-trained players like GoOB and me that nevertheless have been dealing with OFP for a longer time and pit both teams together at the end, see who comes out on top? Edit: Of course, as OFP-flexibility fans, I'd insist on using something like the DSF beta Scuds or the High-MACS... Have the CS'ers ever witnessed the effect of DSF beta Scuds on a city? dmakatra 1 Posted August 2, 2006 I personally don't care if you do it or not. You go right ahead and do that if you feel like it.

BenceRAP 0 Posted August 4, 2006 First of all. Nice blog. And I strongly agree with you. CS-players are simply stupid. Turning them from the dark side is a good idea. Good luck man. I have CS-player firends and they are all the same. NICE PROJECT again. "Where's the fucking jump key?" - now here where I was dead of laughing. And what's more, it's true
dmakatra 1 Posted August 4, 2006 BenceRAP, I think you have misunderstood the project COMPLETELY. The project was founded to fight back prejudices of CS-players, those kind of prejudices you have just written in your post. Did you actually listen to a single word I said in the audio interview? Anyway, for those that don't know; there's an audio interview with me about the project in the first issue of Tigershark's OFP podcast, Radio Check. Check it out, I listened to it last night and it's great stuff. http://web.mac.com/jvanlint/iWeb/Radio%20Check/Welcome.html
h3adache 0 Posted August 4, 2006 Yeah I agree BenceRAP, we're all a bunch of illiterate 14 year olds who resort to beating the living hell out of our beloved keyboards when we get killed in CS. Anyway, my name's Martin "h3adache" Sjöberg, I'm 17 years old and I'm one of the labrats in dma's little experiment. I've been playing Counter-Strike hardcore for the last 2 years or so, about 4 years in total. Placed 5th in the sgl div1 season 4 with G3volution. We were also holding the #1 spot 2 weeks into season 5 but we folded shortly after that due some members being sick of eachother basicaly. I formed eXcessus with some old members of G3vo shortly after but due to people going on vacation, etc, we decided to go inactive during the summer. Anyway, one day I was reading some news on fragbite and saw a thread called Projekt:Flashpoint. Having played the game and all of its expansions (only in sp though) I sent in an application immediatly and here I am! Now I have to admit that I was quite surprised about how seriously everything was looked upon in fpoint, something I find really positive. Dmakatra is also a very good leader, he's very good at instructing and he's alot more patient than I could ever be. I'm impressed! Argh.. I really can't be bothered to type another word now, lazy as I am, but if you have any questions regarding Cs (or anything really) then feel free to ask. dmakatra 1 Posted August 4, 2006 Thank you for the kind words h3adache. I'm blushing here. Or that could be because I was in Malmö today buying new vinyls, and I've been singing along for all it's worth. (Seriously, I fetched Village People - Go West for a tenner! A tenner! That's like 1 euro! Even Village People is worth that! ) I've selected a wide variety of CS-players. Ranging from the 12 hours a day player to one that just discovered CS a couple of months ago. Ranging from people that has never heard about Flashpoint to h3adache here who has actually played it in SP.
Average Joe 0 Posted August 5, 2006 Hey Dmakatra, Us at [RM] Royal Marine commando Brigade would be interested to know whether you are still looking for a serious co-op clan to take part in this project? pm me if your interested
Jahve 0 Posted August 5, 2006 It would be indeed easier to "turn" cs kiddies that are all new to CS than the old hard core people, but as you say in the interview, i would expect they would be amazed, seeing as though many people seem to have collectively forgotten Operation Flashpoint, and may think that such titles as "Battlefield 1942", "Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising", etc were the first games incorporating vehicles loosely in the gameplay. However, Battlefield '42 was just released September of 2002 and Joint Ops was not released until November of 2004. And Operation Flashpoint was released in July 2001. kernriver 4 Posted August 5, 2006 Nice interview, even better idea! It just goes to show you that there are some good new recruits for ArmA, and we don't have to be scared of CS players ruining the game for us. Of course there will always be imature people or teamkillers, but they exist in every community. I await further blog posts and final exam
USSRsniper 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Why would people be scared of CS players coming into ArmA community, werent there CS players coming into OFP and now they are hard core OFP fans  Immature players is problem in all games even sim games like Lock On..... GoOB 0 Posted August 7, 2006 And Operation Flashpoint was released in July 2001. [OT] And Codename Eagle, the predecessor to Battlefield was released in 1999 [/OT]
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Since nobody's done it yet on this thread, I'll welcome h3adache to the official BIS forums, the center of everything important to the majority of OFP community! I hope you come to enjoy the full extent of flexibility and fun OFP has to offer (and ArmA will have, in the future, when it finally comes out).
Daniel 0 Posted August 9, 2006 The Blog is a good read Dma, keep up the good work. If you do find yourself running low on OFP players, just drop a PM, the project is very interesting.
