In the mission where Sam gets caught and you have to escape i once got to a bit where i spawned on top of the mountain in the middle of Kogujev, you are meant to find the Northern star to get back to US territory but I never could find it. (I did complete the mission however)

Yes, you wont find it if you have Llaumax sky though, unfortunetly .

Hi all

Yes I found the nothern star; almost straight away and used it to complete the mission but I have been trained to do it as part of learning to be a climbing instructor. I have been forced to use it for real on night navigation so I had an advantage.

There is a Big Bear (Ursa Major, the easily recognisable bit is known as the big dipper. also it is not the eyes of the bear but is the bears back that points at the little bears tail but why spoil a good way of remembering[/b])

There is a Little Bear (Ursa Minor the easily recognisable bit is the little dipper)

The Object of our attention is drawn to the tail of the Little bear because the end of the little bears tail is Polaris the North Star

How did you got away from the base ?

I jumped the BMP near the tent and drove to the mountains, when there the day past and night began.

I also stole the chopper {mil-24} the you were arriving in, right after the pilots came out. btw, the russian base that you being held on is the same base you must capture in the mission 'Bomberman" in the SP.

it is easy enough if you know the constelations ,in the original sky they are well represented, but anyway go down the hill , it is the easiest way

Looking at the notes section of the briefing, finding the big dipper and north star was a much more rewarding way of completing this mission, it felt real good to reach Nato's base and see the soldier launching the flare .

Firts took the BMP, ran over most of the guys, jumped out, took a gun, shot few guys and took the chopper... took off and either with the aid of the chopper's compass or with the aid of landmarks and sun, flew to the base.

Yeah, anyone who doesn't steal the Hind is a non-freak.

I took it and killed everything - everything (even the 20 or so Shilkas BIS scattered around to make sure you didn't steal the Hind). I ended up with a nice 20,000 or so-ish score.

Made sure I got my revenge on that stupid looking Spetnatz, too.

Then you just jump out when you think you've gone far enough south, and voila - it's suddenly midnight and you're lost again!

To be a true freak - you have to get into the chopper WITHOUT getting into the BMP first.

Has anyone done it besides me? You have to be damned good at dodging bullets! (Or do you...)

Done it, too. First when flying the chopper I ended up just flying north (I think), then I realised I went the wrong way, maybe shot down a Hind in the way... then just casually flew the the base and landed. And the mission ended, it being still evening (sun visible).

Yup, just run away, thats what i did the first time i played the campaign

(And IMO its the most fun way, the other ways are.. less satisfying)

how could you just "run away" ? don't they shoot you or something ? I tried that but I got shot. I played this mission when i was twelve and i couldn't pass it

Just passed it the first time this year {i;m almost 17 now, LoL}

I stole a AK74 from an ammo crate and ran away. ...if I remember correctly
