PMC Ranger Path OFP Campaign

Featuring excellent BAS addons Delta/Rangers.

You can find basic details on the PMC OFP Campaigns Page and PMC Tactical Forums PMC Ranger Path Area, but briefly you need BAS Delta/Ranger, Littlebird and Chinook along with ColMoore's C-130 Hercules and finally CoC Mines pack.

PMC Ranger Path Campaign background

PMC Ranger Path campaign is US Army Ranger specific using Laser's Delta/Ranger, bas Blackhawk, Littlebird and Chinook addons. Missions are somewhat special in nature and you dont find same kind of basic infantry grunt action here as in PMC Fury. The lame storyline is much like in the other campaign where US forces fight off Russians from the four (official BIS) islands.

Some facts of PMC Ranger Path campaign:

- Radio messages without voice files, you'll see radio text but not hear a voice.

- Two cutscenes on every mission, these aren't that hot (sorry, don't expect BIS quality here).

- Thorough briefings, small section + detailed section.

- Over 20 missions and two standalone cutscenes.

- Islands used: Everon, Malden, Kolgujev and Nogova.

- Some missions might require lot CPU power (more or less 1ghz).

- Requires some addons; C-130, CoC UA/Mines, LSR Delta/Ranger, Bn880 Tracers, JAM3 etc.

- Optimized for 1500 meter viewdistance.

- Missions are designed for COOP multiplayer compatibility (MP versions will be released later).

- Added BAS weapons and ammo to the briefing gear selection.

- Removed the nasty debug hint box "deleted" from the first mission.

- Added high dispersion ak-74's for the enemy grunts. Gotta love the high dispersion.

Ok this is the LAST time I'll answer this question; I like Adammos C130v2, its not causing any slowdowns, it works, it flies... its good.

I use it on many of my missions and will be using it, unless something better comes along (and by better I mean CPU friendly, better looking, more working/flying etc).

What part of, "Hawk's is up to date and much better in every way?" did you not understand? The texture quality is better, it has more features (reverse thrust, cargo drop, static line drop, group bail) and it is more recent.

Does anyone have any suggestions about CoC Unified Artillery usage for the existing missions. Right now its only used on the one (1) mission which was the new bonus mission, UA should be used on the other missions too.

So lets take one example, PMC Ranger Action, that is very very small mission and even adding the M252 mortars to it would ... well be quite devastating as player could just sit behind the hill and shoot the tubes empty and then go and count bodies smile_o.gif

But also I do not want to re-make all the old missions either to maintain them in the original form... so somesort of balance should be found. All suggestions are highly appreciated.

for the SAR mission, rescuing downed apache pilot, i don't find that pilot or wrecked apache, i've circling around the blue area but i still can't find the pilot...search the woods, bushes, cities, villages. still can find him...any suggestion?

The downed helo makes a huge smokestack, its easy to see, as long as you get close enough...

Ok, i've found it, but the helo did't smoke. maybe the pilot has put out the fire tounge2.gif , so the enemy can't find them.

I've only made it through the first two missions and I'm having a blast. With HD weapons you're not taken out at 1200 meters with one shot from an AK47. biggrin_o.gif  With the terrian set at normal you get to hide a little. I statred to see that the RPG solders have RPG7's and they shoot at you, in the second mission I had an SR25 and looking through the sight I see an RPG soldier pop up, take aim at me and fire. I saw the rocket flying right at me through the sight and land in front of me and explode. It was wild. I got to the town and the T72 was damaged but still running. My AT guys were out of ammo, so I ran around and gathered up all the RPG rounds I could find, I damaged the T72 more , but still not dead. I finished it off with some grenades finally and ended the mission. Trying to find the right strategy to finish the third mission. pistols.gif

Hi,

like the campaign, good work! But now i got stuck at the "Pilots"-mission. Whatever i do, it wont start. I now de-pbo-ed the campaign and tried to save it as a single mission but an error occured: "bas_m4soa.p3d missing".

Need your help to bring the boys back home ! huh.gif

Well:

- I studied from this campaign, how can I make a mission without the lagged big battle, but the player feel the big battle. So your small team fight in the wing of the big battle and only the player imagine the great war, not the OFP-engine. It's great!

- I hate those mines!!! banghead.gif I really hate. Sometimes it's positioned correctly where I put it, if I were the russain HQ. But sometimes you just put it, because you know I will go there, but the russians had no idea about my way.

- Intro/ourto: I think your movies are not really intro/outro. You showed the starting position and starting forces and later you show the way, where we was. But a real intro/outro give the player some additional: eg. show the enemy, or show a short story about my men, some joke or drama. inlove.gif

i didn't find a topic for your "Hero's path campaign", so i hope it's ok to post this here:

-OFP save-game-bug-  

Great campaign, i love it! I don't need much eye-candy, i need this hell of an enemy ! Keep up the great work!

Bad luck, when i was right in the "surf the beach"-mission, i got the save-game-bug too (error-message: "cannot load continue.fps", "no entry at... value.data"). Other player's attempts by avoiding this by renaming the save-files didn't work, in fact, nothing worked at all.

Like others, i think "one mission one try" is no solution. After enjoying this campaign for days now, i didn't care how a solution looks like. All i wanted now, was to restore my status in the mission/campaign.

However, i'm just happy that something worked at all: Simply restore it by modifying the mission in the editor. You then can't continue the campaign in the usual way but i don't feel that i've lost anything now. This way i got my game-state back about maybe 95% and Saving/Loading seems to work fine. smile_o.gif

1) Download a pbo-decrypter, e.g. PBO-decrypter v1.5 (by Amalfi).

2) Un-pbo the campaign. Now you got all missions of the campaign ready to edit in the OFP-editor.

3) Open the editor and load the mission you were playing.

-To keep up the tense, only look at the area you've been already!

-Move your team to the last positon you remember.

-Adjust the time afa you remember.

-Delete any enemy-units you remember you have already killed.

-Optionally, add or remove weapons/magazines to your team.

4) Save the mission as Single-Player mission.

5) Play the missions and get the job done...

If any player here never worked with the editor or is a beginner, just let me / us know...

P.S.: By the way, the pilots didn't enter the chopper to get me to the drop-zone...  huh.gif

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but at the start of parachuting in the desrt during the storm half of my squad is injured or killed.

Any ideas?

Restart the mission then. Its normal OFP behaviour that sometimes when ejecting units from plane they get killed.
