Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted April 2, 2006 If you read through the lines (and improvise a little), the "flashback" campaign seems to be dropped? BIS, are you working on a new campaign now, or? Personally I think that the flashback campaign was a great idea. Its like playing OFP with a totally different perspective! But since August this year, nothing have been said about this campaign. Im just speculating, will we see a flashback campaign or has this been changed? (I know this topic stands an allmost impossible chance to survive an answer - but it serves just as much comments about the campaign-type that we as gamers (or simmers if you like) want, as it serve for an official statement. funnyguy1 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Was it said that arma will include flashback campaign at all? I mean, did they say "yes, there will be flashback campaing in arma", or did they say that the content of ofp will be included? I`m confused now, because despite the fact that some ppl were interpreting `the content of old ofp` as the old campaigns, I`ve never thought that way, and to be honest I don`t remeber a statement saying clearly that arma will have neither the flashback campaing [edit]: nor the old campaigns included . D.murphy man 0 Posted April 2, 2006 By flashback he means that the missions (as stated in one of the older interveiws) that the campaign story will be told in the way of flashbacks from a soldier at a debreifing (or somthing).
dmakatra 1 Posted April 2, 2006 I don't mind them ditching the flashback idea. It's been used a billion times already.
jaffo 0 Posted April 2, 2006 According to the pdf on www.armedassault.com, "All content from the original game in a new revamped game engine" which would imply that all the original missions and campaigns would be in it. Playing the old campaigns in an updated engine would be fun, I hope they haven't dropped them
funnyguy1 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Well, I mixed up those two things, nevertheless the camaign probably won`t be like that. Wasn`t if for game2?
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted April 2, 2006 They have sadly dropped the original content from ofp. But I hope we will see it as unofficial addons though. What I meant, was the campaign to be told in a flashback-way. You as a soldier in a court marshal have to play through "your side of the story".
berghoff 11 Posted April 2, 2006 Uhhhhh bah. ^_^ Well we'll just have to import the rest ourselfs then.
Guest Ti0n3r Posted April 2, 2006 I plan to put stuff from Ofp Elite together, convert it to ArmA and then release it as some kind of package. If no one does it before me that is. Hopefully it won't be too hard to convert it. Edit: Nevermind - Don't think this is possible, legal issues. But hopefully. We'll see.

On the subject of the old campaigns, I hope they'll at least make it easy to convert them over to ArmA; I don't want to have to go back to OFP once it's out. It doesnt sound like BIS will sue us, but oh well, we will see

This is because these islands quality is not near quality to that of Sarah. The good news is, that we will be able to import these old islands and missions into Armed Assault. Let us hope, that we will see a "collectors edition" for Armed Assault, including all the original BIS stuff and maybe some handpicked OFP addon stuff.Quoted from armed-assault.dk

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I wonder if this will be a sequel to the original campaign. In Williams blog (check other thread on mainpage), they say that the communists will be a cold-war renegade army. I wonder if we will see Guba's army again Anyway... do you guys think they are still doing the flashback campaign, and now we will see this William's experience in a blog... And when we are getting the game, we will play his court-marshall afterwards?
berghoff 11 Posted April 4, 2006 So Is William Porter the new David Armstrong? :P
Guest Ti0n3r Posted April 4, 2006 I'm pretty sure they've dropped the flashback campaign. It looks like the blogg will provide us with a prequel to the ArmA campaign. (IMO, a very good idea from BIS)

The south part is where we are, and the north part belongs to a old-style communist holdover from the Cold War called the ‘Democratic Republic of Sahrani’ which is actually not far from here on another bunch of islands. If the north was still communist it would be called Peoples Republic of Sahrani not Democratic.

The name might not tell you the whole trueth. Either by a part of their tactic, or simply because its an old name and times are different.

ebns72 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I am very disappointed about the old ofp campaigns not being there. If Arma is 50$, IMO that is overpriced if ofp content is missing. How hard could it be to port OFP:E content over?

They are, though, allowed to release it for free as soon as arma gets released. And from what ive heard, that is exactly what is going to happen
