ofp.info Interviews BIS (many unseen pics!)

Recommended Posts

Multiple gunners were confirmed by BIS ages ago. That is why we didn't even ask about it in the interview.

Updated graphics, JIP, smarter AI, and engine optimizations added onto a already near-perfect gaming experience is all I need.

Anymore than that is just icing on the cake.

edit: and whats driving me crazy is how everyone wants BIS to keep us updated with everything as they are working on it, but then everyone starts nailing them down for showing pics that "are not finished" banghead.gif . It's like when I make movies, people beg to see them before they are finished then tell me they didn't like it. It's BECAUSE ITS NOT FINISHED YET.

I am very happy with the interview and I like alot of the new screenshots.

As other people have commented I have a hard time understanding the critique as well.

For me "Armed Assault" will be nothing then a pure bonus on my gamingshelf, I mean I was expecting OPF-OPF2, not

OPF-Armed Assault- OPF2 so for me this is a "win win" situation as far as the series goes.

Furthermore BIS states (as they have done before) that they develop based on their fans and not the publisher and thus beeing more independant, I mean how many other companies do that.

Just look at the latest R6 release "Lockdown" for PC....ubisoft has basically ruined the series and neglect the PC crowd and angle the series more for the consoles.

People have to think a little bit longer then the lenght of their nose and start to appriciate publishers as BIS, couse there aren`t many like them and will probably only be fewer in the future.

I love R6 Rouge Spear for example, I mean if the same game would come out today with just some upgraded graphics I would rather buy that then some other shitty game for sure and replay it even if there was no new stuff inplemented.

For Armed Assault we`ll get plenty of goodies to tie us over towards OPF2 so I for one is not dissapointed to what I have seen so far.

Not the rest of the community just 5 or 6 people. I don't see anyone else complaining. I can't really give you an exact quote, but I am pretty sure you can find it somewhere here.

They never confirmed that - on the other hand I think they have more or less rejected it.

It`s not listed in the `features` in official press relase/progress update. It wasn`t mentioned in the interviews...

They`ve never confirmed that, just like destructable buildings (in the vbs1 way)...

Maybe during a private chatsession with someone, but I certainly don't recall it ever having been said in public confused_o.gif

Ye, these are my thoughts too. I'll still buy the game, love it and play it everyday. But it would be a shame if those feats would be left out. confused_o.gif

I just hope they are working on it right now.

All i can say is just wait. You gotta remember BIS have been working on this for nearly a year (from what i know) And im guessing a years work will amount to a lot more then different light effects and graphical improvements. Think about how much work (5 days a week, 40+ hours) that has been put into Armed assault. Its a hell of alot of improvments that im eager to see. Just sit back guys, chill and lets see what BIS give us, instead of moaning at them because a certain effect is too much overkill. The mod community is what im excited about.... rofl.gif

Good point thumbs-up.gif

There aren't even mounting points for these weapons. The least they could have done was add some non working props.

Maybe they intentionally don't have it on in any of the pics to throw us off and surprise us later. Maybe that is the m1 for the country we are protecting and they don't have mgs on it. (Unlikely but possible). Just because a tank doesn't have the multiple gunner positions doesn't mean it isn't going to be possible for the modding community to change that. We got damn close in ofp so I am sure we can get it in ArmA.

If it could be done with relative easy then don't you think that BIS would put it in by default on their tanks to have some interesting things to market the game with? wink_o.gif

About Multiple gunner positions (and no more class limitations anymore), it was stated in 2003 by Marek Spanel, about the OFP Sequel which was named OFP2 at that time (it was before they started working on the 2 projects that we know now).

I hope it did not change!

Quote[/b] ]Marek Spanel:

Better look and feel - more detailed vehicle and soldier models, more realistic terrain and vegetation

The same core gameplay as in original OFP – do not mend what's not broken - with more user friendly and polished user interface plus some new additional gameplay elements and options

Improved addon handling – easier addon installation and managementInteresting single player campaign – even more interesting than in OFP (if this is possible at all)

More versatile vehicle structure - multiple gunner positions, possibility to use any weapon system with any vehicle type when creating addons

Improved mission editing and scripting capabilities

Well-rounded flawless multiplayer support

This is from an interview here.

But did OFP2 become ArmA or game2?

And then, its from 2003 ffs, they still had to begin with ArmA at that time tounge2.gif

EDIT: i really, really cant spell sad_o.gif

Careful about the "pimpin" issue here, we might send the wrong signals to BIS.

We wouldn`t make them delay the game 4-5 months only to have pink tanks with wunderbaums and soldiers running around in red leather tights now would we.....of course the officers would be loaded with jewelry and wear slick hats....

Careful now is what I say biggrin_o.gif

All the privates would of course be female and usually in 'private' situations. wink_o.gif
