-Soviet- please don't hotlink images greater than 100kb.

And I don't see the point of this thread? A very large plane landed in Nottingham, and? Unless someone can enlighten me as to why this is a topic worthy of discussion the thread will be closed smile_o.gif

Hi,

Ok, it's now less than 100kb. thumbs-up.gif

I believed this news could interest people. But if people aren't interested in it, closed the thread... that's all. biggrin_o.gif

it landed at nottingham? last i remembered, nottingham airport was a rather small affair - seems strange something of that size could land there - would have made an awesome sight on the M1 watching it come into land metres above your head smile_o.gif

Personally, i think its news worthy whenever this miricle of engineering takes off or leaves the ground..

I have tried to get a heads up as to the flight schedules of this and the An-124's that Volga Air run... They are very tight lipped, because many of their missions are military. The local NZ service provider wont even tell me sad_o.gif Twice i have landed at Auckland airport, seen an AN-124 parked up, then raced home to get my camera, and they are gone by the time i get back sad_o.gif

Does anybody know of a network existing where you can get a heads up on these things?

They are used a lot for Aid Flights so you could try Aid Agencies? they may be able to help you.

Iirc, there's a An-124 that semi-regularly air flights in engines for 777 production in Seattle. There's also a beautiful matched pair of prop bush planes hidden away by some private outfiter at a local airstrip about 45min south of Seattle, tucked behind a truck rebuild shop.

-edit- A matched pair of AN-2's iirc.

Normally loads too large for Hercs/Globemasters iirc, had a couple land At Leuchars every so often on there way up to Lossiemouth.

Infact there is usually one at the Leuchars Airshow every year.

They use them in the Netherlands to fly Apache's to Afghanistan. See them lots of times at Gilze-Rijen AFB. Sometime back I even had the pleasure to see one flying over my house. They do make a lot of noise but not as much as the Chinooks flying over way lower whistle.gif

What does it carry when it stops at all those airports? Does it just carry containers or does it only carry special loads?
