D.murphy man 0 Posted January 2, 2006 no one has an awnser for sure, and we havnt seen any evidence in screen shots to guess. so all we can do is hope multigunner posistions are in ArAs
stakex 0 Posted January 2, 2006 no one has an awnser for sure, and we havnt seen any evidence in screen shots to guess. so all we can do is hope multigunner posistions are in ArAs I beg to differ... If you look at several screenshots, more specificly ones that show the machine guns on the Blackhawks... you can see that it very much appears there is a gun on both sides of the blackhawk. It is of course hard to tell from screenshots, but I think its very likely this limitation has been fixed. I mean, this is something the community has really wanted pretty much since OFP came out... So id be very supprised not to see it in ArmA.

D.murphy man 0 Posted January 3, 2006 heh, even better if we can walk around on vehicles too! big battles on ships with people running around on board and boarding other ships! Pirate mod! yarr
max power 21 Posted January 3, 2006 Wow... Conquer the IslandS would be an excellent idea! Your gunships, air defenses and beach landing APC's would take on a whole new dimension.. escpecially if your islands were not within visual range of each other. I, for one, have never used the fording/amphibious capabilities of any of those craft.
Joe_1911 0 Posted January 8, 2006 with 60+ Player support, you could have 3 teams of 20, each team trying to defend his own island while capturing others. I could imagine each team planning it's own invasion of the different islands, sending in blackhawks with 5-6 guys to scout out the enemy positions. Damn I can't wait for this game. Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted January 9, 2006 I read that side doorguns weren't used much on the Hind. In Afghanistan, they would add a rearward-firing machinegun for extraction under fire. I'm sure that would have been more common on a Hip than on a Hind. I read that they didn't use the troop-carrying capability of the Hind that much, but that the 3rd man would be used to man a machinegun or act as a dismounted guard. Big Dawg KS 6 Posted January 9, 2006 From what I understand, ArmA will be alot like VBS1 in terms of the game engine, and since we know that some of these things are possible in VBS1, there might be a chance ArmA will support them too. This is what I am told at least...
TDogg 0 Posted January 9, 2006 It would be awesome to turn out of commanders seat in a tank and use the mg. If this feature is in Armed Assault the commander position in a tank will be lot more useful than what it is now in ofp, especially multiplayer.
hokum15 2 Posted January 15, 2006 Yes, the commander could act as covering fire or AA support, if they add the ability to fire from within the turret it would be even better...
Heatseeker 0 Posted January 15, 2006 So far no pics showing this feature have been shown and none of all Arma tank pictures seen display the heavy MG on top, i think it remains a maybe at this stage .
EddyBoy 0 Posted January 15, 2006 In all the pics with blackhawks you can only ever see one side...maybe they're hiding it?

This is what I am told at least... We do? I never heard it was possible in VBS, unless purelly scripted (like fastrope and other stuff that doesnt work in OPF) , in terms of game engine VBS1 and OPFR are the same, arma is supposed to be upgraded, if the game engine was revised multiple guns per vehical should have been considered.. shinRaiden 0 Posted January 15, 2006 It's always interesting to read the wild and baseless speculation about what is and isn't in VBS1, or VBS2 for that matter.
Heatseeker 0 Posted January 15, 2006 It's always interesting to read the wild and baseless speculation about what is and isn't in VBS1, or VBS2 for that matter. Alot is possible in OPF using scripts but the result isnt the best possible, obviously . Such small features already available in many arcadey games.. we shouldnt be hoping for these features, we should expect them with a smile in our faces, multiple weapons, transport vehicals in cargo and move freely in cargo are already available in joint operations (for ex.). To have them in OPF wouldnt work so well (because of the bad colision issues) but for Arma it should be high on the BIS to do list...
Commander-598 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Well, in something I was reading two or three years ago, I remember reading that multiple weapons happened to be one of the first things they ever did. I think it was for VBS1 or back when we were waiting for OFP2.
max power 21 Posted January 16, 2006 Being able to defend a tank with the crew served weapons would make them awefully powerful.
scfan42 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Multiple gun positions has already been developed for VBS1, dunno if it's been implemented in anything though. A video showing features of the "convoy trainer" released some time ago includes a vehicle with two weapons on it. The video is low quality and the picture is 200% resolution of the video, so I circled the two weapons firing just to help out. There's also movies of moving around inside vehicles, IE opening the hatch above the cargo area of an APC and shooting out of it, or standing in the back of a truck. And a movie of moving around inside a flying C-130 (with an ADF jeep-type car rolled into the back) and a flying CH-46. Movies (near the bottom, part 1 has destructable buildings, part 2 has the convoy trainer) When defending a tank I'm pretty sure the preferred method is the M240 mounted on the loader's hatch. The M2 is mainly for taking on lightly armored vehicles such as BRDMs or low-flying helicopters. I think.
Heatseeker 0 Posted January 16, 2006 I saw that movie, both weapons seem to point in the same direction and only muzzle flashes are visible, BAS littlebirds also have 2 animated minigun mounts with visible muzzle flashes but only one shoots for real . Workarounds are not good enough, BIS really should implement it in the game engine and vehicals properly, it shouldnt be that hard .
scfan42 0 Posted January 16, 2006 No, both guns can move independently and fire independently. They're facing the same direction because they're firing at the same bad guys
wolfbite 8 Posted January 17, 2006 Well after watching those vbs trailers i hope all those features are in arma. Loved shooting out of the top of the apc... that kicks ass
ryankaplan 1 Posted January 19, 2006 we shouldn't need to hope for this. This is a must in a game like ArmA. Even rts games have multiple guns nowadays (w40k, dawnofwar has super tanks which can fire and target independently at multiple targets). This will enable proper tanks, proper apcs with shooting hatches. Proper jeeps with the possibilty of shotting your lmg while riding shotgun, or even engaging an air target with an AAlauncher(if that is possible in real life), and last but not least, Battleships :P
