3.8+ AMD64,2 Gb RAM,6600GT (as an alternative 7900GT a bit later)?

I have;

Sempron 3000 512Mb with 128Mb ATI X700 (notebook)

Celeron D 2.8 512Mb with 128Mb GF 6600GT (old)

Pentium4 3 64 1024Mb with 128Mb GF 6600GT (new)

OFP:R 1.96

Notebook gives around 32+ fps with DxDll water reflection in effect

Celeron always prones at 8-14 fps, no water reflection

Pentium gives 20 fps 30 at most, no water reflection

I really wonder what would AMD 64 3000+ with 6800GT or higher give? around 100fps I think

Because parting with my mula/soldi/cash is taken serious. I wish to make sure I have a system which can handle AA. Now if there is not required system specs and the ALPHA post is the best to go from, then so be it.

Is there a particular reason you need upgrade right now then? If money is a concern then why not wait until the game is released or about to be released. By doing that

1) You will know what the hardware requirements are for certain

2) Every day you wait to upgrade, the cost of components go down.

So if Arma is your reason for upgrading, then wait until the last minute.

Good point, but AA is not the reason I am upgrading. It's one of the reasons , but not the only. Basically my good ol XP2100+ box is showing its age. Crunch crunch etc. PLus there are other games which I wish to experience with the settings turned to

Well ArmA will be like OFP, nothing is enough because somebody will always make more demanding mods, addons and missions. That and you can bring any home computer on it's knees with the gfx settings. So buy the best stuff you can afford, within the performance/price ratio that is acceptable to you.

well a sort of system like ofp:e (mission points) would come in handy to keep mission in the limit of the recommended specs.

Isn't that great?  Anytime I can bring my computer to it's knees, I  know either something awesome is happening, or something really piss poor.

Pimped up ArmA = something great

(Bad design software + complex assembly =       )

AMD processors are much more capable of running OFP at decent speed tough I have P4 3.00 EMT64 with 1024Mb RAM... my laptop has Sempron 3000 with 512Mb and it runs LOT (x2) faster than P4 in OFP of course...

Don't all games do? Even if they are not capable of using multiple cores them selves, the OS can run background processes on the other core thus allowing more processor time to the game.

well i guess they do, but what i meant is if you have a dual core will ofp recognise that and use it to its own benifit?
