BigPoppa898 0 Posted December 8, 2005 Hey All, Now that I've been using the ECP and FFUR modes for a while, I'm interested to hear from you all what your experience has been and what your preference is. ECP seems to be better if you like to use a variety of add-ons, where as FFUR doesn't work well with add-ons but seems to (at least on my machine) run much smoother with a large number of units. Greg147 0 Posted December 8, 2005 In my opinion, I use ECP for mission editing and FFUR for mission playing (if the mission involves no addons. If it does, then normally you play as one of the addons ie Lasers Deltas, so the replacement wouldn't have much an effect anyway) They're both great packs, so why not download them both? Btw, If you check out the 20 last pages of FFUR's current thread you'd notice that we're working very hard in order to establish to compatibility of all 'FFUR packs' with 'extra addons', there would be a lot of enhancements at several levels (40% less loading time, new replacements, realism increased, better and more realistic scripts with less framerate impact drops...and much more.) But each mod has its own advantages and disadvantages, FFUR has focused on new model replacements keeping balanced between realism and gameplay, while ECP has mainly focused on new effects and gameplay/Online elements. nominesine 0 Posted December 8, 2005 I prefer ECP becase it boosts the part of the game I care about without increasing lag too much. When I play I can see my own rifle and my closest team mates clearly. The enemy, in the distance, is only visible as small grey shadows. Hence no point in replacing everything on the map. That's why I don't care too much about total conversion mods. Total conversion mods also changes missions too much for my taste. Vehicles are faster or slower, producing effects never intended by the mission maker. Unit stamina, weapon performance and similar things are changed. Buildings show up in the wrong position, etc, etc. My experience tells me that a well designed and carefully scripted mission can be almost unplayable using a total conversion mod. With ECP there's usually no problem. And I prefer carefully designed and scripted missions  But FFUR is perfectly allright for a friday-night-fire-fight-mission  I have both ECP and FFUR installed on my computer, but I try to use them wisely. 456820 0 Posted December 8, 2005 im an FFUR man all the way even though editing can seem to give some addon errors when playing again in normal ofp but a quick edit of the mission.sqm sorts that out i still love ECP and i still play both of the mods becuase whats missing in FFUR is in ECP Both teams have done great work on the mods but i have to say FFUR is my fav Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Shinbusan 0 Posted December 8, 2005 Personally I prefer WGL5beta and ECP DMA Army Modpack :P Soon there will be WGL5beta with optional config taken from DMA Modpacks... twisted 128 Posted December 8, 2005 the latest FFUR is really surprised me in how good it is. the way the weapons handle in particular and the fact that (i only use the 2005 pack) that one can use modern weapon in the established campaigns (FFUR 2005 + PMC FURY = brilliant frustration). that said ECP really introduces some gameply elements that are simply amazing - most particularly the enhanced AI.
