Callsign 128 Posted September 19, 2006 Or because like a lot of the features, they are keeping their cards close, which i love bootneckofficer
stegman 3 Posted September 19, 2006 I still have faith (or is it hope?) that BIS will pull off a miracle and implement an appreciably improved AI in ArmA. Â However, as Project Manager with many years of software development experience, I have to point out that it is a terrible decision to wait till the last moment to implement such an important game play component. Â Then again if anyone can pull it off, it's BIS... Peace, DreDay Who says they've been waiting to work on it until now? Â All we know is they haven't implemented it in any of the press builds so far. ...he didn't say that mate. Read it again. He said, and I quote; Quote[/b] ] it is a terrible decision to wait till the last moment to implement such an important game play component. *tisk, tisk*
chipper 0 Posted September 19, 2006 We'll if you think about it, if they wait till the last minute to implement the smarter AI it could break the campaign they made. Maybe making some missions impossible to finish because the AI behave differently. Then they'll have to remake the missions.
bravo 6 0 Posted September 19, 2006 they said they were working on it.. im sure they are comparing their behaviour with missions and so on. don't bring more caos to caos..
Commando84 0 Posted September 19, 2006 i think the campaigns will b easily tested, and the ofp engine is so versatile so i don't think the missions could be broken to much with improved a.i. i remember in one of the interviews Bis said we could even modify the games a.i even more. maxqubit 1 Posted September 19, 2006 With my ofp:e missions which a.o. made extensive use of the GUARD waypoint i was constantly surprised by the AI. Many a times i diverted from the main objective just to check out what the heck those guys were doing or where they went hahaha. On top of that the mission were never the same on replay, even things i thought to be quiet fixed turned out to be different each run:) Nah, i think a small change to AI could have major impact on mission esp. when advanced trigger mechanisms such as GUARD are used. stegman 3 Posted September 19, 2006 On top of that the mission were never the same on replay, even things i thought to be quiet fixed turned out to be different each run:) I know this is out of place, but I have to say how much i loved and still do love, Operation Flashpoint. Â The huge environments and never ending possibilities...(oh, the possibilities..). Â The AI. Â Randomness of firefights. Â I've bought other games (Doom, farcy (even sims 2)) Â All have been played to death and returned to the shop. Â But OFP is still there on my shelf looking as apealing as it ever did. I'm actually quite sad, for the closing release of ArmA is like the foot steps of doom for my copy of OFP, for it is soon to be replaced.... Anyway back on topic; These AI improvements are sure to fit in with any mision thats been made, i guess hte only danger is it being too hard! (and i do hope it will be very hard indeed, games are way to easy these days!
deanosbeano 0 Posted September 19, 2006 hmm , does anyone have concrete evidence the ai improvement is not in there, because i remember in gdc they showed a video of the ai ,in which it was alledged the guy was talking up how much the ai was improved over ofp, i think the vid was from armedassaults.de and was titled gc-commov. it would be nice if some real facts started to be sourced now,its all taking 2 step forward and one back in here. Placebo said in an interview that AI will be one of the last things implemented into Armed Assault, therefore in the videos you will only see the operation flashpoint ai. NeMeSiS 11 Posted September 19, 2006 Damn those screens, people should put AF/mipmap detail on or higher when taking screens, this looks horrible
rainbow 0 Posted September 19, 2006 Photos weren't take on the highest details, from this what I know. My opinion those screens are really good.
Callsign 128 Posted September 19, 2006 wow wat can i say looks better and better every time i see a new screenshot, machine gunners have bigger pouches than infantrymen we have an SR25 wat next!? WOW just saw a seagull in the anim movie! bootneckofficer
Journeyman 0 Posted September 19, 2006 Thanks Rainbow! Those anims are looking good, but that crouch walking looks quite painful! I just tried it myself ... bloody hell that was hard work! ...Ahem, maybe it's my age though! Â
Guest Ti0n3r Posted September 19, 2006 Well they're still the best pics I've seen for a couple of weeks Most anims look good. But, the sprint and crawl speeeeed
NeMeSiS 11 Posted September 19, 2006 Heh, now ive seen that 22mb animation vid i have to say that those anims look really impresive! Much better then i thought  Quote[/b] ]It can seem hard on start considerably than in Operation Flashpoint because it is actually. I remember how I crash my blackhawk every moment. I managed to comprehend new model of flight and feel machine proper after certain time (got to say, each helicopter is different in flight a bit). Sounds good Quote[/b] ]In ArmA any tank can destroy any other using only one, good aimed shell (Indifferently if T72 will hit Abrams or on reverse). But thats very bad
Average Joe 0 Posted September 19, 2006 WAHEY Improvement! looks great
dmitri 0 Posted September 19, 2006 Great preview. Even with the texture settings on low, the graphics are a step up from OFP (thanks to the superior lighting). Cool Dmitri
bravo 6 0 Posted September 19, 2006 the video looks nice.. but nice only i think they still have some work to do in the movements.. some look fake. keep the good work BIS and staff

deanosbeano 0 Posted September 19, 2006 lmfao, arma has already given me great fun and i aint even been in the editor yet. i suppose we cant shout clones anymore ,they are different however small the difference is lol edit video of anims, looking absolutely fantastic. one problem spotted = when pepperpotting move is being done, when the soldier hits the deck, his gun goes below ground like ofp . i hope this does not mean like ofp, that people can shoot through the ridge/peak of a hill like ofp.
maxqubit 1 Posted September 19, 2006 The animation video is very good. Major upgrade from OFP stuff i'd say. Perhaps old news but i've read that all this model/anim stuff of soldier was outsourced by BIS.
