They may have spent most of that time figuring out how to make OPF run well on a xbox and working on a next gen engine for game2 wink_o.gif .

Quote[/b] ]7. We will see if Arma was made just to get pocketmoney ... we will see ... at the moment we cant predict that. Anyways, if arma is 1.5 OFP and if it is true, BIs will loose most of the OLD community, thats for sure!

just u wait! ArmA is not only a new game or update it is a whole new playground fro modmakers. That is what it is all about to open up new boundaries with a new engine. Look at OFP today..anyone still in the community who doesnt download addons and still only plays 1.46 campaign? doooont think so just like for OFP to make the GAME community last for 4 years it doesnt just take BIS it takes the whole COMMUNITY...oh and trolls apparently. tounge2.gif

ArmA is no new game, it's just an update...

It's still based on the old engine, but with many improvements, but it's definatly not a new game, because there is no revolution!

Do you think a developer programms a single line 2 times, if the first version was ok? You have a funny opinion about software-engineering.

ARMA isn´t a "update", come on. Whom do you want to irritate?

PLS stop writing nonsense, it´s enough.

@ all the above since my last post - rofl.gif

I'll just settle this as I know what ArmA will be about just from looking at screen's. ArmA will be an update to the engine but its gonna be a completely new games with really the only old things being used will be the Original 5 Islands with some updates of course and the Campaigns, besides that everything else will be new &/or improved.

What have we seen so far?

New Soldier Model

New Soldier Textures

New Grass Models

New Physics

Updated Effects

Updated Water

Updated Vegetation

v2 of the OFP Engine

And a few more things that I cant remember right now but the point is with just those alone I would buy ArmA and consider it to be a new game.

<s>It has a new collision detection system, isn't that physics?</s>

You can clearly see that the tanks on OFP: Elite doesn't jump when they come over a hill, now thats physics. wink_o.gif

But tanks do jump. Anything that can go fast can jump, doesn't matter if it weighted 100kg or 100t as the gravity is equal to both.

I know that, but if you have seen OFP you know that a M1A1 can easly jump 2-3 meters without haveing much of a speed.

If you see the movie at flashpointelite.com, on the top-left of the screen, you can see that the tanks behave

different then in OFP. They look more heavy then in OFP.

And thats the kind of physic which is different from OFP on Elite, and I'm totaly sure that physics in ArmA is different too.

Take a close look at those screenshots, those are the ones that are OFP2 not AA.

Most noticeable about this is the very early desert picture that was released awhile ago and the ever great looking one of the soldiers crouching.

Yeah, but a release for Game 2 in march 06 is a little bit unrealistic too *g* And many (commerce) people don't know the difference between Game 2 and Armed Assault... *LoL*

Heh,well they did say that AA is becomming OFP2,to an extent. But who knows,I guess we will find out in March 6.

But I think its another one of those people making up false release dates or something, but ya never know.

Well, I will be perfectly honest, I would not expect AA to be released this year, as most sites say it will.

I think the 3rd month of 2006 is pretty accurate

If it were released next year would that mean maybe OFP2 would be a 2007 thing or perhaps a later in the year thing, not seeing much sense in that but what if their trying to fuse AA and OFP2 together sort of or upgrading it more and more *hears door slam* what was tha?- *gets dragged away by men in white coats*

While the date isn't unlikley per se, given the state of things, this is just another rumor untill BIS or the publisher say something else then Q4 2005.

Since there is no other info and the one currently available seems more and more like a snowballs chance in hell, we are bound to see more speculation dates on these "release charts".

Those sites seem to relay on "my-brothers-best-friends-next-cousin-told-me" kind of "info" quite often. icon_rolleyes.gif

Quote[/b] ]I've found "bad" news on this german website

I just know that I sent news about AA and OFP2 to the magazine as they had no clue whatsoever about name, content and other things concerning AA and OFP2.

I don´t know if PcGames are in contact with BIS, but it doesn´t look like that.
