It's with great sorrow i'm writing this, my OFP compadres.

Due to a great personal tragedy i'm gonna leave this wunderful place on the web.

The SCARS are being packed and waiting on the tarmac for Air SJB to take over. I know Jackal will do wonders with 'em (and probably release it a lot sooner than yours truly would).

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you all for some great and fun years in this community.

That Noveske muzzle attachment IS NOT A SUPPRESSOR.

It was designed for short barreled AR weapons, to focus the muzzle blast forward and create more backpressure to eliminate gas flow problems, which were causing short stroking and other problems with the ARs gas system.

I must say that is a radical design change so late in the development just kidding.

Enyway latest gosip is that SF are looking for a AR15(not HK416 or Colt 1020) based rifle/carbine to replace wornout M4A1's and maby even the FN SCAR(its said too be not user friendly).

Its the laser range finder which is used in conjunction with the EGL to accurately pitch rounds onto targets (AFAIK).

The HK416 is having reliability problems tested against the Mk18 it lost a over the beach contest. And unofficial rumors say they are having problems in Afganistan and Iraq. other than that it is heavy especial in the front when compared too a M4A1.

The Colt 1020 is not finished yet.

The SCAR is said to be less ergonomic than AR15, especial the stock has been critisised. It is also bigger and bulky compared too the Ar15. Why do you think the Flashheider sits reversed(down-up) on the barrel, the gun has "negativ"(downwards) recoile so too compensate the muzzel flash is directed downwards, I would imagine it kicks a bit of dust up. and last but not least it is not finished and still in development first too be deployed in 2008 and SF's needs new weapons now.

I need too stress that the SCAR is not cancled(low production has just started I imagine its the 125+ guns the contract describes) if a new upper or ar15 based weapon is found it will most likely have too compeat against the SCAR for selection.

If a new Ar15 based weapon is selected I am sure it will have a true quick change barrel(less than 10 sec like a lmg), be piston operated, Free Floated, Monolithic, problery be able too fire just after comming out of water. can't think about enything els right now.

Interesting about the HK416 reliabilty issues, surely if they plan to buy SCARs in the future, but need new guns now they'll just buy more M4s and save money on a proven design? Or do they need a better design? I know that the M4 has a somewhat bad reputation but how much better can they get without turning to the likes of the HK416 or the Colt 1020?

well they are going towards the HK416 and colt 1020 just not these two desigs they want somthing better.

Soon to go official a SF group I belive has bought a batch of these(just in 14.5):

a LW SOC a piston driven upper it only changes the bolt carrier and gas tube too a piston system. LW a company which aparently is suplying protype weapons to SOCOM.

Why not buy M4A1s well I belive they stil order small amunts once in a while but if your going too replace a weapon system building up stock dosen't seem like the best Idear, also if you signal that the old system is still good enough why use lots of money on a new one?

side loading isnt done because its easier to reload, it means it allows a larger round to be used in the weapon than could be used in a M203.
