CanadianTerror 0 Posted October 31, 2005 Why bother with a scope on that "thing"? How acurate could it be? EDIT: I want one for my res troops!
Messiah 2 Posted November 1, 2005 he just enjoys tinkering with it - from the video, you can see how much of a kick this thing has, so probally not very accurate

I don't even want to think about what the muzzle blast on that thing must be like
Sgt_Eversmann 1 Posted November 1, 2005 I don't think that the picture of the AK is a fake. That Version looks just silly to me
DKM Jaguar 0 Posted November 1, 2005 Yeah well some people don't design and make guns just to look pretty, they actually need them to do a job. But no, I'm sure the enemy would be so impressed if you started fireing at them with an M4 with loads of crap mods on it that you can barely lift it, they'll fall over out of respect "because it looks cool." Messiah 2 Posted November 1, 2005 must appologise to extraction for such a thread hijack - i didnt know it would lead to this. please could, we discuss his project, not the stubby AK? Any other questions, feel free to IM me

LoTekK 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Oh, right, the topic. Sorry 'bout that, that AK was just too good to pass up. These units are looking ace. I checked out the beta version with the three units, and they look awesome. Nice texturing and modelling work. Definitely looking forward to using these guys. dsedgwick 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Are you making some SUV type vehicles for these guys to use?
-HUNTER- 1 Posted November 3, 2005 Yes that would be seriously cool, you could have like 4 or 5 seats inside, and the next 4 cargo seats will be them animated holding onto the rails on the side! Â Black armored suv's like this one with extra kit for those outside cargo positions, maybee also some more communications equipment, some blackwater trucks have army style radios, big antenna etc, and it has up to 7.62mm protection which is nice also in OFP, keep bullbar! .. orson 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Aha ... no you see balistic tests have proven that nothing stops bullets like a CIA op wearing crisat ... so they drape them on the outside to improve survivability for the occupants
LoTekK 0 Posted November 4, 2005 If you're planning to add SUVs, I recall this one particular SUV I saw on Modern Marvels on the History Channel some time back. It looked for all intents and purposes like a stock standard Chevy Suburban. That is, until the roof of the cargo section opened up, and a mounted machine gun raised up. The thing was controled via a joystick and dash-mounted display, keeping the occupants safe from small arms fire in the heavily armored SUV. Too bad I can't remember the name of the company that manufactured that particular one.

Too bad I can't remember the name of the company that manufactured that particular one. I think i know what you are talking about It's a modified ford F-350 made by National Automotive Center equiped with a remote controlled 50 CAL laser sighted and grenade launcher. It can detect sniper fire and fireback automaticaly without human intervention (i had one of these when i was a kid)... Sadly i can't publish the images here they are of a weird format and of not so good quality... Still u may recognize the truck http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,47860,00.html Also there is this one that look like Mr T's truck... But it is the SMART Truck III Hope, it's what u seen on TV...National Automotive Center But i would rather prefer a GAZ3937 platform to a Ford F-350. Ford is good but not compared to this: this this and this I have been told it can survive to an anti-tank mine... nice toy!!

But the in this case CT police officers also stand on the sides for CT raids at whatnot ops... If you dont want to see ppl there you could just not take 9 ppl with you in the same car. Or have 2 versions. But with or without this stuff a nice SUV would rock
ExtracTioN 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Any cars not planned yet after the unit pack I will look if I make some or not depends on the free time I can make myself to spend on making addons
dsedgwick 0 Posted November 4, 2005 let me couch this first by saying that "I have no idea how to make/change an addon!" But I was thinking that there are a few usable SUV type cars already out in the OFP community and that they could just be "re-skinned?" to work for this project. Not in person... But I did look it up on Google. I was thinking of transportation that companies like Blackwater, Erinys, Centirion currently use... and not companies like Dyn-Corp who can afford those types of armored carriers. wrighty 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Hi guys, im messiahs mate he was referring too. Ive been currently working in Iraq for just shy of 2 years as a CP operator. Any help i can offer to yourself extraction, dont be afraid to ask  . As too my funky AK, you may well laugh but that weapon has pulled me through many a scrape. Why's it good? Well most of my job involves smashing your way out of an ambush in built up areas. I can fully extend the stock and fire a lot more accurately from a vehicle than someone with a rifle which is too long to bring into the aim with stock extended. Also stopping power, it isnt an AKSU which is chambered with a smaller calibre. It uses same calibre as a full size AK. Also the aimpoint, well he who gets eyes on his target the quickest gets to go home! I used this weapon for about a year of my life, it never let me down. Also rate of fire, the gas parts are shortened therefore the firing rate is increased dramatically. I have also used the M4 in theatre which although a very accurate weapon has let me down on the range due to stoppages therefore i will not take it on the road with me. Yes it isnt the prettiest weapon but believe me that was the last thing on my mind when ive been thundering up the airport road in baghdad. Hope that answers any questions, and Messy you can upload that vid, cant make out my beautiful features anyhow

I was thinking of transportation that companies like Blackwater, Erinys, Centirion currently use... and not companies like Dyn-Corp who can afford those types of armored carriers. I have been told that these cost arround 33 000$ US without the electronic. These compagnies aren't near to be bankrupt, they must can afford this APC. But in real-life i think they dont use the GAZ 3937 cuz it's Russian made, not the same engineering and replacement parts may be hard to find or can't be easily provided by the manufacturer. Instead i saw that they are using Mamba South African APC wich can as they told me, also, survive an anti-tank mine but they only have one mounted mg and they have less off-road performances. Since we are in OFP then we can afford everything we want.

They don't use them because the RG-31's/Mamba's are just a lot better. And I don't think the GAZ 3937 is available for export yet. Plus the Mamba/RG-31 uses Unimog parts which are widely available all over the world. Quote[/b] ]http://mamba.armour.co.za/images/mamba.jpgInstead i saw that they are using Mamba South African APC wich can as they told me, also, survive an anti-tank mine but they only have one mounted mg and they have less off-road performances. I was told that a mamba can survive the blasts of 2 TM-62 AT mines detonated at the same time. I don't think the GAZ 3937 is able to do that. And where did you heard it has less off road performance? Their off road performances are pretty good but just really uncomfortable since it's very bouncy ride. And one mounted machine gun ain't a problem since it has hatches on the roof which allows the crew to fire from the hatches. Quote[/b] ]Since we are in OFP then we can afford everything we want. But we do want to keep it realistic don't we I am working on a RG-31 model by the way. It's far from done and I don't think it will see a release soon since it's still only a very basic model
x582gr51 0 Posted November 5, 2005 *IronSight* I only have this info from the lecture of many sites but i don't remember wich one, this was weeks ago. But, i admit that i have been reading a few sites about rally cars and trucks wich may not provide accurate infos or i may concluded that the bouncy issue isn't suitable for V.I.P. Thinking of realism... it's impossible to fire from the hatches in OFP and this is one thing that make me prefer the GAZ 3937. Sure, there is the two gunners issue but i think having seeing an UK land rover with two gunners and i will check on it. But this is not so important since this is a mod for a game and it may end-up as a bunch of offline addons and missions like i do since a year and a half. This is how i'm seing this for now only waiting for the troops to be released or i will stick with the units i have at the moment just using differents anims that look more like the real guys.
