Engine limitation busters hall of fame

Operation Flashpoint has come a long way. Thanks to ingenuity of addonmakers and new patches supplied by Bohemia Interactive Studios things that were first seen impossible have been made possible.

This is a thread where you can remind us of what engine limitations have been broken and what was the addon/mod that broke it. For example:

Engine limitation: "Wheeled vehicles cannot be armed with missiles"

Addon: Project MCAR

Engine limitations : no destructible parts for buildings

Wolfbane's tracers got around the useless BIS 'Laser Beams' not sure if this would be considered an engine limitation. WGL's backpacks got around the limited inventory system.

Rappeling, fastroping, cargo atachments, animated goggles etc = BAS? notworthy.gif ..

Bridges = BIS notworthy.gif .

Huey helicopter = Eviscerator biggrin_o.gif (do you remember the magic days?)

First (I think) non-official addon:

Kegetys (M16+shotgun)

First modified models (pre-O2 times!wink_o.gif:

Fliper, A-Lone-Wolf (sorry if mispelled)

First changed textures:

a guy with a German name (I feel shame I can't remember his name!wink_o.gif

These things had broken limitations in their times... those were exciting times... biggrin_o.gif

I remember the modified models pre o2 is was changing the p3ds in milkshape i think you couldn' add new vectors polies or anything all you do was reshape the model and hope the textures came out okie.

Lawrie did some good stuff with that. Rest In Peace man . . . you were a great guy

Not sure if the following are strictly limitations or merely features that were always possible:

Custom landing gear anims: Colonel Klink

Engine start-up and shut-down sequence, as well as

Get Out only after opening the cockpit door: DKM

Limitation: Can't swim

Group: CoC

Limitation: No tank suspension simulation

Group: DKM

Limitation: No animated HUD

Group: DKM

But yeh just want to mention all the limitations mentioned in this thread havnt actually been broken but "good-enuf" walkarounds have been found but still on general dont work anywhere as good as they could if they would be hardcoded.

This reminds me old addon of some vinatge car wich was first one wich opened and closed doors automaticaly when you get in or get out. Sadly i have no idea who made it sad_o.gif

First decent "nation" mod: FDFMOD (or at least I can't recall any other full MODs (demos and piles of addons dont count tounge2.gif))

it wasn't a limitation as it was always possible to share ammo - it's just that no one thought of it before BAS smile_o.gif
