chops 111 Posted September 20, 2005 I have a shitty old PC that runs OFP just well enough to test addons on Desert Island. I think this island of yours is going to cost me dearly... Can I just add that there needs to be a balance between places where people work and where they live. We are all working on different things ATM and we really need someone to find some images/Advertisements for the billboards .Also hunt around for reference material to create more realistic addons.So if you have some free time and are a net junkie PM or email me. Hospital, police station, fire dept, airport, carpark, restaurant, club, bar, drive in movie theather, or regular one, trainstation, highway with overpass, like seen on Mia Iraz!!! If I may suggest something: Polycount isn't the only thing that lags up missions, object count is too!. If you have formations of thesame objects (traffic lights, rocks) I suggest you let somebody merge them into one object, on a large scale it really saves you 10 / 20 FPS. Same with the lightning: one custommade (HUGE! lightsource in the center will be allot more easy on the gpu then over fifty lightsources. Also, maybe it's an idea to create a high / low spec version? Hehehe.... it looks nice, just REALLY hope I can have a parade trough the town without crawling FPS, and to be honest, the FPS in your screenshots speak for themselves: Los Lagcity Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Making big objects doesn't always improve performance It's not about rendering it, but maintaining it. deciding how to render 200 objects (on screen) takes allot more time then 50 objects on screen Also, over 1000 meters, with proper lods, a single 50X50M rock "cliff" thing might only need 100 polygons, as they can all use one texture that appears to have depth .
