Wow, I have just seen the little demo video on OFP.info and those bridges are mind-boggling!  This is going to be one the greatest islands ever! (Just please use some variety and non-BIS Hangers in the airport, please! ).

I have a shitty old PC that runs OFP just well enough to test addons on Desert Island. I think this island of yours is going to cost me dearly... inlove.gif

Can I just add that there needs to be a balance between places where people work and where they live. Eg each skyscraper will need a few hundred people, who'll need a couple less hundred houses, if the islands going to feel realistic.

Hi all,

I am pleased to announce that Silent'n'Deadly and Maatz have joined our small group and are creating some exciting new things for OPFLASH ,things that were sorely missing from day one.Arne has been hard at work aswell making new bridges,billboards and is now working on a water barge and it's looking great. We are all working on different things ATM and we really need someone to find some images/Advertisements for the billboards .Also hunt around for reference material to create more realistic addons.So if you have some free time and are a net junkie PM or email me.

Looks awesome. Best urban atmosphere around from the looks.

EDIT: How about an exclusive suburb up in the hills, with more expansive houses, but further apart. Also, a Las Vegas type 'Strip'?

Some small canals, some uber elite villa's with driveways and the whole sjit. A Mc Donalds offcourse, a gasstation. Like Shell or something familiar. Hospital, police station, fire dept, airport, carpark, restaurant, club, bar, drive in movie theather, or regular one, trainstation, highway with overpass, like seen on Mia Iraz!!! wow_o.gifsmile_o.gif

This map is really amazing. But will all this stuff cause lag?

bar - DONE

trainstation - DONE thanks to arne

highway with overpass - DONE

carpark - DONE

drive in movie theather - I want that 2 on the cards...

gasstation - In progress ,maatz

police station - Depending if agreement can be made between Real world Studios and the ERT mod

fire dept- As above

Lag well it's ok ATM even with viewdistance set to 500 you still feel ur inside a city.ATM it lags a lot less than some maps that use heavy follige.

This looks exactly like the map ive been looking for...

The only good urban maps i have found were Torment Valley and some map called Enfilade (originally meant for a WWII mod)

Don't want to hijack this thread, but the traffic-light system now seems to work with WrpTool set objects, too.

This is of such high quality I just know BIA is going to copy this for their "exclusive simulator" tounge2.gif .

If I may suggest something:

Polycount isn't the only thing that lags up missions, object count is too!.

If you have formations of thesame objects (traffic lights, rocks) I suggest you let somebody merge them into one object, on a large scale it really saves you 10 / 20 FPS.

Same with the lightning: one custommade (HUGE!wink_o.gif lightsource in the center will be allot more easy on the gpu then over fifty lightsources.

Also, maybe it's an idea to create a high / low spec version?

Hehehe.... it looks nice, just REALLY hope I can have a parade trough the town without crawling FPS, and to be honest, the FPS in your screenshots speak for themselves: Los Lagcity confused_o.gif

But with OFP's LOD system, OFP will render the entire object at the same high amount of detail, no matter if the end of the object is 5 meters away or 500 meters. It can have it's advantages, but also at times it's disadvantages whistle.gif

40 Rocks at 50 poly's each with the system you are thinking of = 2000 poly's. 40 Rocks at 50, 25, 12 and 4 poly's (lets assume they are equally divided (10 per ''LOD resolution''wink_o.gif over 1000 meters, with proper lods), will make just 930 poly's to be rendered. And with a low viewdistance even less. Making big objects doesn't always improve performance wink_o.gif

It's not about rendering it, but maintaining it. deciding how to render 200 objects (on screen) takes allot more time then 50 objects on screen smile_o.gif

Also, over 1000 meters, with proper lods, a single 50X50M rock "cliff" thing might only need 100 polygons, as they can all use one texture that appears to have depth wink_o.gif .

EDIT: /\ look! it also saves out on the ammount of textures to load! rofl.gif
