SpecOp9 0 Posted August 21, 2005 Anybody else excited about this? It's due in early November, so now I have even more months of pain and agony waiting for both AA and The Movies. Anyway, The Movies lets you do everything and anything related to the Hollywood style of making movies. You create your own movie studio, create your own movies, create your own Staff, Actors and Actresses, and much more. If you like simulation games, you'll like this, but if you want to create movies, you'll love this. One thing caught my eye, the lead man at Lionhead said a contest will be held, where people submit their movies, and the Top 10 will be made into real life-studio made movies. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/movies/index.html?q=The+Movies Whats even more impressive, is that you can make different styled movies, from 1920 silent films, to 2005 styled films. I know this may seem useless to most folks here, knowing anything done in this game could be overdone in OFP or AA, but still, it looks like a game I'll be getting reguardless. EiZei 0 Posted August 21, 2005 Lionhead? They still are actually around after that horrid POS known as Black & White?
SpecOp9 0 Posted August 21, 2005 They are making a Black and White 2. I never played it, was it really that bad? I thought it was very popular when it came out...
Colossus 2 Posted August 21, 2005 I bought B&W but the levels was too long, I never got longer then to level 2 (I was pretty bad at it though) But it had some cool features like destroying building with rocks, trees and even people if you threw them had enough. And my creature sometimes eate the whole population I never play that game again, it's too boring and not my type of game, and I don't think I will try The Movies either. EiZei 0 Posted August 21, 2005 The physics were cool but they forgot to include a game with their fancy looking software toy.
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted August 21, 2005 I played B&W at a friends house, it was fun, but thats because I only played it for 30mins or something.. I think if I bought it, I would get bored of it quickly.. The Movies looks not bad, but again, I think it could wear thin very quickly.. Depending on how much control you get with it.. If you could manualy move the camera, or set up the stuff to move the camera about in a set way, move the lights about, tell the actors where to move about etc etc, it would increase the play-time of the game (for me atleast) But if you can just say what the main characters are like, and click a few buttons to say what they will roughtly do (only, two modes or something would be a good work around), it'd get boring quickly.. Promising sounding game though - Ben
DracoPaladore 0 Posted August 21, 2005 B&W was fun. But then it just never went anywhere. I'd play for some two hours and I'd never get anywhere. My pet always ended up falling apart, turning into some bohunk slob with a gut hanging down to his knees. This is an added frustration due to the fact that I ahd the stupid bugger exercise all the time. My biggest gripe is that I only had a limited choice, and then had to unlock the other ones. Damn, I wanted a turtle from the start B&W 2 looks to be the better. Looks cool, has better features. But I'll be waiting for a demo first.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted August 21, 2005 I liked b&w... the idea was nice, and their graphics engine was cool.. But yea, u never actually came anywhere. The bugs was what made me drop it though...
The Frenchman 0 Posted August 21, 2005 Will this game allow custom models? I know they will have alot of models that come with the game, but I want to make a 15 minute movie about ninjas breakdancing to Super Slam. Â
Mr_Tea 0 Posted August 21, 2005 I saw something about the movies yesterday on TV, it was a GIGA special about The movies and B&W 2. They said that you can upload selfmade films (with The Movies of course) to an website. The best films will make it to a real movie. Interesting enough, cool features and what I saw on tv was good. Maybe I`ll buy it, could be fun to compete with other "filmmakers". Edit: @ The Frenchman You can do whatever you want, they had shown an video and it was an zombie musical, and the halferotten zombie did lipsync to the singing. .pablo. 0 Posted August 23, 2005 sounds interesting...i'll definitely d/l a demo when it comes out. black and white was boring though, i bought the game without playing the demo (silly me), and after a week or so of just catering to my villagers and worrying about whether i was raising my pet tiger correctly, i was just like "screw this, this is work." it's pretty much the same reason i didn't like the sims. SpecOp9 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Is Lionhead also a Czech based game developer team? I don't know why but I keep seeing Czech pop up when I'm looking around at Lionhead
EiZei 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Is Lionhead also a Czech based game developer team?I don't know why but I keep seeing Czech pop up when I'm looking around at Lionhead Nope. It's a british developer that broke away from Bullfrog. So far they have released Black And White, it's expansion and Fable for xbox. Nothing really good so far (unlike Bullfrog that gave us dungeon keepers and syndicates, meh).
