Messiah 2 Posted August 27, 2006 I'd honestly say its still a little overkill, but much improved... remeber that around areas such as the safety/fire selector thingy the paint would have become worn off within a week of the spray job, given that its in relativly constant movement + human fingers/natural oils will kill any paint job. Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 all i can say is if you dont like my camouflage texture dont use em, thats the closest i've managed to get to what SF operators do without spraying my monitor with spray paint... thanks for the publicity jackal lol
gatordev 219 Posted August 27, 2006 Jackal, this all looks top notch. Looking forward to getting my hands on it "soon," especially now that my OFP is a lot zippier w/ my new Conroe box I just built. I'm really not trying to be a pest, but figured I'd ask again since I know you get distracted w/ all the great additions you've done: any word on an updated M203 optic? Again, great stuff, and thanks for continuing to support the community.

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted August 27, 2006 I agree with messiah. Not everyone will like your textures and that just a simple fact. But Messiah gave clear and good reasons and that should be respected. I would have understood your reaction if he would have simply posted that he didn't like them, but with the reasons Messiah posted I think your reaction is a bit too much. I like the textures, but indeed there should be no paint on the handgrip and the barrel should be better with just a part in camo and not completely yellow. For the rest it looks great. Don't bother offering advice to Jackal, Messiah... I tried once, and ended up being told to basically naff off. In fact, it was on the exact same thing you advised on
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 dont turn this into a flame war thats twice youve criticised the camo textures used! if you dont like me you dont have to use em there are 250 other weapons to chose from..
oyman 0 Posted August 27, 2006 ya you need to add in some wear and tear around moving parts and to the pistol grip/foregrip area.
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 -_- *begins to wonder why he bothers if nothing is ever good enough and loads phot plus up* i'll make some textures if it takes me all night then post a pic here for y'all to look at and probably criticise some more but still its worth a try i guess
sniperuk02 0 Posted August 27, 2006 It's called constructive criticism. They are only giving you tips on what would make the texture more realistic.
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 well for one the areas they suggest should be done like that are not painted but are parts that come in that colour such as the ris covers and vertical grip also the barrel was done quite carefully by me as to not look OTT
Jackal326 1182 Posted August 27, 2006 Actually Shashman, I think I told you to Fuck off, and incase you missed it, consider that a reminder. On another note, the screenshot showed a WIP and is not to be considered final. The textures will be "worn in" more, but only around the selector switch, because as mentioned by Helping_Hand, the rail covers etc are made in the tan colour, not painted. The end result wont be to everyone's liking as everyone has their own idea of what should and shouldn't be included. Its a simple matter of subjectivity. Jackal326 1182 Posted August 27, 2006 No, I was simply reminding you of the opinion I have of you, seeing as how you felt the need to show off your opinion of me by posting on a subject that has absolutely nothing to do with you.
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 jesus christ everyone step away from their keyboards and be glad that you have people like me dasquade and jackal doing all of this for you, 300+ weapons hasnt been easy for the guy so think about all the criticisms that are going to set the project back further being made to messiah's liking or shashaman's liking when jackal could just release the pack where everyone was mildly happier about the things instead of just a couple of people likeing the stuff that they badgered him to do since 1.1 u'v got a redone set of m4s a new lr300 better shotguns better optics updated mp5s new weapons like the HK53 and WA2000 the list goes one quite a few of those have been to requests too... Shashman 0 Posted August 27, 2006 It had everything to do with my original comment, which was about the camo job of your weapons. Now you've heard it from 2 other members, addon-makers no less, yet your reaction is practically the same. Quote[/b] ] I put your sniping comments down to pure jealousy - you see the praise we addon-makers receive for the time and effort we put into our work, but can't be bothered to put the time in yourself, and as a result find that to boost your ego you have to poke fun at others, pick fights with and piss off random people. Let's see you use that one now
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 shashaman are you really in a position to get another warning bar about this bullsh*t just go with the fact that you may not allways get your own way no please stop being soo childish and go away if you have nothing of any use to type to us, on a side note jackal i' gonna try and make u some winter camo to try we'll see how it goes
Sennacherib 0 Posted August 27, 2006 @Shashman do you have your own nice models to show us? please let the 3D modeller to make their stuff, it's really hard to copy the reality. for me his job is really impressive. why? because i can't do that. yep the weapons need some dust and maybe some mud, but he can add that. it's not a problem. (i hope )
Shashman 0 Posted August 27, 2006 I don't spend my free-time 3d modelling, nor do I intend to start. I have a job, a girlfriend and lead a busy life. If you make addons and release them to the public, for the right reasons, then you'll take constructive criticism. Otherwise just don't release them if you're not prepared to take advice, comments or even criticism.
Blackbuck 9 Posted August 27, 2006 just another layer in PS / P+ by me or jackal not to hard D@NTE Â oh and shashaman your criticisms arent contsructive so let us get on with our works of art so to speak and you get on with your "busy life"

Shashman 0 Posted August 27, 2006 @ Helping Hand and Dante: Here is the original 'discussion' regarding the camo job... Me: Quote[/b] ]Jackal, I noticed in the CP thread a picture of some of your upcoming weapons, and that HEAVILY camouflaged M4 grabbed my attention... It really doesn't look realistic. Does that actually exist? i mean every single part of the weapon is camouflaged Me: Quote[/b] ]And yeah, I have seen SF operators with camouflaged weapons, but the one I see in that picture, seems almost like it's been MADE looking like that, the camouflage is perfect, every millimetre of the weapon is camouflaged, and it just looks like a toy as it is now, just my opinion... Jackal: Quote[/b] ]My apologises for not having the astounding texturing ability that seems to be required of me... (Some response, from such a well respected addon-maker ain't it! Me: Quote[/b] ]I wasn't telling you to change what you've done, I was pointing out that the amount of work it looks like has gone into the camo job on that weapon looks too high. As was stated above, an in-the-field camo job is simply a quick spray of one, maximum 2 colours, taking all of about 2mins to do. Don't tell me my comments are useless and don't tell me what I can and can't criticise. This is a discussion board, addon-makers who can't take critique are in it for the wrong reason...
