FFUR Incoming HUGE RELEASE !!!

In the earlier FFUR versions you had configs for different machinesm why don't you handle it that way this version?

the more configs the more work needed to do

as you coul dguess everyone is bound to be busy aswell as doing this

also if problems go wrong its easier to hunt and fix in just one config instead of having about 9 configs for winter, woodland and the desert ones so that a lot of extra work but it is a shame to get rid of some of these things though

but in the end its till a great mod

@Thunderbird - will you be incorporating any of the improvements from the latest ECP mod? My favorite things from that mod are:

1. Background audio and sound effects

2. Burning tank crewmen (grizzly - but realistic).

Any chance of incorporating either of these?

(Just a tiny oftopic thing, the burning crew.. How the hell do they get out a BMP that's just been hit with an AT rocket, and it then blows up..?)

I hope you put the vehicle radio sounds in, if nothing else, they make randomly flying/driving about less boring tounge2.gif

Anyway, amazing looking work, can't wait for the release smile_o.gif

Ah, one last question, if someone downloads all the packs, can you have them all installed at the same time? (Like FFUR_Desert, FFUR_Winter and FFUR_Woodland mod folders)

Hi mates !

The AI has been improved a lot , you'll notice it yourself once in game using incoming packs.

Yeah , there would be 3 installers for people who do wanna pack by pack , and there would be 1 Full installer containing all of them which would allow ya to get'em all. One folder by Theme.

FFUR woodland -> folder's name : ffur

FFUR winter -> ffurw

FFUR desert -> ffurd

With the cooperation of an experienced US military of the era 80, several changes would get carried out. I'll keep you informed about incoming improvements in realism's way.

Concerning ECP scripts , only the crater would get used , Honestly I don't find very realistic "crews burning" because when a tank is hit , one usually immediately die or become unconscious due to the impact power.

Thats not true at all. In fact when tanks are hit, most of the time they dont blow up, but start burning from the inside. Tanks blow up with the hollywood explosion only when their ammo or fuel is hit.

In fact, what ECP did is realistic because like I said, most of the time when a tank is hit, it starts buring from the inside instead of blowing up, and the crew tries to get out.

I forgot you have been a crew and you've already experienced that : p

just kidding...

At first there are 2 main different ammunitions used by Heavy tanks :

-Sabot and Heat , each one do use a different way of explosion,

I'm not a military adviser but you might understand what I have in mind by taking a look on fas.org explanations about these both ammunitions and about the result of their impacts !

This is one of the main reasons that push me to not to use this "crew burning" script.

The second which's also an important reason is to reduce the lag by using only Important and Usefull scripts in game in the goal to allow comps lower than 2.0 ghz to run the mod without to have to deal with any kinda lag...!

Like: Tanks explosions / Choppers dust / water effects / planes explosions / Infantry AI...etc

I understand what you mean, and its even a limitation of the OFP engine to make it realistic, but in fact, the crew of the tank doesnt just die when a tank is hit. In many cases they try to get out and their half on fire. Even with a heat round, tanks dont just exploded unless their fuel or ammunition is hit, and their pretty well protected. The force of the heat round is not enough to make the tank blow up in the air like you see in hollywood movies. It does however melt the metal where it hit, makes a hole, and burns everything inside.

As proof, take a look at destroyed tanks that were hit by other tanks.

So far, the most realistic tank destruction that Ive seen in ofp is in the Liberation mod.

But if it reduces lag, then take it out, its better with no lag.

Well, HEAT rounds are used on light armor (apc's, some trucks, etc) as they explode rather than penetrate on contact, but SABOT rounds use the armor and materials of the target itself to destroy the target. During the Gulf war, the Iraqi crews were usually found laying inside their vehicles looking like roasted sides of beef. No joke. A SABOT round liquifies the inside of the tank momentarily, effectively disabling any targets within.

Oh, and as far as BMP's? IF the infantry in the back survive the initial blasts, and IF they are lucky enough to get the troop doors open, they WILL get burned by the gas tanks, which are located in that area of the vehicle, thus POSSIBLY turning them into burning men AKA "crispy critters".

Generally, though, the burning crew stuff is a WW2 happenstance. I do think the radio script is cool, and extremely realistic. Radio nets are constantly busy tranferring info and data, thus making a helluva lot of noise.

Thanks , I know it would be great to incorporate ECP crews burning script but unfortunately it would occur a lag with other FFUR scripts, because a lot of scripts runing at the same time = Lag for low comps !

However , several changes have been carried out for the incoming woodland pack :

LWP ural replaced by ORCS new one :

how sad photos could be showing what is the real war, i think such features should be included, besides, ofp is a combat simulator...

who invented the war? I? no, neither and you, so lets get and feel the real war...

this isn't a cs, bf2 or other stupid games, this is reality, this is OFP

OK fellas - I accept your sensitivity on this issue and have simply pointed to the original source site.  However, this is the reality of what we're 'playing' with.  

Sure, OFP is a game - but if the intention is to make the game as close as possible to reality - then we have to accept all aspects of that reality.  What do you think happened on the 'highway of death'??  Do you think those poor buggers stood a chance against American technology?  They burned by the 100's.

War is Hell - literally.

He did it but changed it later. Remember that this forum is visited by all age groups and posting pictures with burned and ripped bodies is not very appropriate.

and ow back on topic whats this about the apache still being the old Bis one ? but there was somehting above where if you install the sky pack you get high detailed new black textures on the apache

anywa of just having them on it in the first place ?

cant wait for the final thing its sounding great and very nice idea with the new in truck anim's getting bored of soldiers just feeling there gun in a truck lol

Hi all !

Sorry Seminara but I don't think I'd include in any way that burning body script... if you'd like to include it for your own use , ask ECP how to grab ONLY that script , or let me to have a look on it later once FFUR packs released , cuz we're a bit too busy these days...
