They update the engine to Unreal 2.5 (so you have to download the whole game, there's no update).

"This updated engine code base provides several enhancements to the game engine in several areas, including efficiency (optimizations), security, stability, bug fixes, new gameplay feature infrastructure, etc. Also four new Maps, new weapons and some other interesting stuff."

Haven't felt like I've had time to play since February but I'm gonna pick it up again, soon I think.

I'm gonna look at the changelog I guess. Maybe if it has changed the "Us or Us" gameplay thingy.

My definition of "Us" being the western world/the U.S.. Like, when I played, it was America versus the bad guys, but if you switched to the bad guys, you would still be an American soldier holding an M16.

Ah yeah. That got me confused the first time I played AA lol. I seriously doubt that they ever will change that. They want to encourage people to join the army, not the terrorists. tounge_o.gif

Join the Army? Ha!

If this game has taught me anything it is that 1) if you look a little to the side you can see through fog (tried it in real life..didn't work) and 2) that there is always some punk kid that is able to snipe from the stairs and somehow still hit me in the tower window...

Honestly: No one is getting trained by this and I think they've only proven their stubborness. Their service clearly isn't meant for online gamers. Preventing training their enemies? Please! The chinese can't even read the menu titles, but then again, they might copy it and adapt it or something like that, but that's both irrelevant and highly unlikely. If they're worried about training enemies, the shouldn't release the game, in my opinion.

I thought the press statement about terror said that they weren't worried about training the enemy. They would only release the game but disclose no new information about tactics, ect. Plus all those training manuals are already out on the web. I also read somewhere that the Army was interested in recruiting computer-able officers, officers that will not for sure see combat.

I'm poor at finding sources but I think that sounds about right.

Anyways, I'm interested in trying the new version out. My account got bugged and then I lost it, but I don't really mind being "indigenous" with a new account. wink_o.gif (I'm already at Honor 12)

I'd been having trouble with the last version of AA, it wasn't running on my computer. I tried to do a new install of it yesterday, so I downloaded it, not realizing anything aws new. Damn was I suprised when I landed into a brand new map. I took two months without being able to play any games with my squad. Oh how good it feels to be back playing, and this version of AA seems pretty solid. My first night back last night so it was pretty much getting my binds and movement and firing back down, but overall it was pretty good, and no kind of big glitches or anything.

Does it run stable now, i had 10/12 frames in the game's server lobby rock.gif , also in some maps my frame rates would drop from 90 to 15/20 rock.gif .

I dunno, it gets boring real fast plus strafe running makes me tired real quick, i dont think i'll bother this time, maybe with AA2, maybe wink_o.gif .

Personally, I just wish that people would stay together and pretend like those news footage of the wars. I'm one of those silly kids who wishes he could simulate an experience like Tears of the Sun with the ACOG placed in the correct direction (Bruce Willis jab). wink_o.gif

But you know, "patrolling," doing "tactical" stuff like stacking and covering. I wish that people would get in the mood and do silly stuff like that. AI players aren't like that currently. ^.^;;

EDIT:: Actually if you see the Ghost Recon 3 trailers out right now, you can see what I fantasize about. In some videos you see a stealthy method of patrolling along with some intense shootouts behind cover. I wish there were games out that have a documentary feel to them while maintaining playability. Reality is more of a bonus for me as long as I have the illusion of playing a real soldier in a "real" scenario.

Hell, I'm Taiwanese American and I can read English AND (some) Chinese.

But really, China shouldn't be interested in having hostile relations with the USA. Besides having trade and political relations, well developed countries don't war against each other. They bitch, but they don't go shooting. If the Chinese activate their military all the way again, it's likely against a under-developed country or as part of a world-wide coalition under favored-nation status.

America's army is not ment to train anyone. They tried to make it realistic, but they also made it for playablility not training. It is however ment to get younger people interested in the army and it use as a recuiting tool. The reason you are an american soldier on both teams is because its a recruiting tool and they want you to want to be an american soldier.

Good game by the way. I downloaded the whole thing only to find that my file was corrupt sad_o.gif

i just hate all the training levels you have to do just to play online, sitting through an hour of lecture from the game just to be medic no thanks, crawling through some level time after time with only 1 way to go getting spotted at the same place every time by some invisable enemy and having to repeat from faraway

Oh man I remember back in the Recon version of the game you had to complete MOUNT McKena (sp?) online to be able to fully access all other levels tounge_o.gif

With so many trying to authenticate I had to beat the damn MOUNT level bijilions of times!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone by bringing up Chinese literacy, I guess I was picturing a stereotype in my head. Anyway, as far as developement goes, China still has some explaining to do for Tiananmen square. Other minor things, too.

Anyone have a link to a site where I dont have to sign up to spam to download a file that should be available for free?

Either Filefront or Fileshack is easy. One you have to sign up for, but the other is just a few clicks and you're downloading.

AusGamers (I think is the name) also is no sign up....there is a lot of link clicking but you will finally get there...I usually try to download from nVidia or simliar but they don't seem to host it anymore.
