Daddl 10 Posted September 4, 2005 well, I use mostly a battle axe, a sword of war, a warhammer and a great lance (so much stufff in a so little armor). Mhhh... I understand using the sword and the hammer (the latter to knock out people without killing them), but why the axe, too? The sword of war is quite a killer on it's own - and it's much faster than the slow axe!
ran 0 Posted September 4, 2005 well, I use mostly a battle axe, a sword of war, a warhammer and a great lance (so much stufff in a so little armor). Mhhh... The sword of war is quite a killer on it's own - and it's much faster than the slow axe! shock ... depending on the landscape I use either the lance (for flat land) or the axe when the land is a bit more broken. The battle axe also has a longer reach than the sword and inflicts more damage with a nice bonus against shields, it allows you at high levels to kill armoured horsemen in one not so well aimed swing if you're able to get a slight speed bonus with your horse. And I just love axes
sputnik monroe 102 Posted October 2, 2005 I just found out the update was released today. I haven't downloaded it yet (I'm about to go to bed). From my quick browsing of the forums on the talewinds site it sounds cool, yet there are some big bugs with the padded armor now. Can't wait to try the new version none the less. Daddl 10 Posted October 2, 2005 It's very nice: new terrain generator with less pronounced terrain (although you sometimes still get some steep hills and deep gorges) with new snowy and steppe terrain, some grass and wooded areas. generally improved graphics (to some extend), new armor skill as prerequisite for better armor, the ability to reload smaller crossbows while mounted, tougher fights, new armor type (gloves), and some more... I like it, even if it has some rare CTD issues and some minor graphical glitches (model errors like on the padded cloth armor). Definitely worth the download! There's a patch (26mb vs 36mb for the full dl) that allows people using 6.32 to upgrade without reinstalling. Not sure how mods affect the upgrade, tho - you might want to do a fresh install if you have installed the Mag7 or other mods.
hellfish6 7 Posted October 2, 2005 Kinda sucks that you have to start all over again - I miss my heavy battleaxe and I'm getting my ass kicked by four pirates.
marcusjm 0 Posted October 4, 2005 It will be very interesting to see what comes out of the mods. I'm especially interested in the Samuari themed mod. I haven't played this in a while but soon it's time again . Wonder if OFP models can be converted? marcus
Balschoiw 0 Posted October 4, 2005 Downloading the update right now at 6.5 Kb/s ...ISDN is a word I can´t stand right now... I haven´t played it for a while as I was fixed (still) to Dungeon Lords, but it can´t hurt to restart a funny carreer in Mount&Blade. *singing*: I am the Axeman ! I am the Walruss ! I hope they come up with some story mode sometimes. That would be great.
Daddl 10 Posted October 4, 2005 I'd recommend waiting till tomorrow - Armagan promised a quick fix for some bugs that crept into V0.700. The most annoying being regular CTDs during fights, the others are more visual glitches. Don't get me wrong, the new version is real fun to play - just remember to save often! kevbaz 0 Posted October 6, 2005 v 071 is out, its removed a few problems, like the giant cricket men, but hes also removed the armour skill, it must have been causing conflicts. v.07 save games dont work with 0.71 its running good for me, had a few crashes though
Daddl 10 Posted October 8, 2005 There's also another patch (0.72) - you can find it in the forums (but not yet on the website). Unfortunately savegames are incompatible yet again, but this version seems very stable and the bugs from 0.70/0.71 seem fixed. Haven't had a single CTD since I updated. It's only an exe replacement for 0.71 (which is required for this patch), so no big download if you already have that version.
WhoCares 0 Posted March 7, 2006 Well, I think the latest updates are worth a bump for this little gem (currently v0.731): Download Page New City interiors: Some (basic! ) siege: However, the most notable addition are certainly the numerous mods that already have been made by now: Mods Discussion Mods not just with respect to new items and settings but also with a 'real' plot or war... Check it out and have fun!
NeMeSiS 11 Posted March 7, 2006 Hah yes i bought it some time ago and i still love it, i played to norman mod for some time but the latest version keeps crashing, so ill wait untill a new version comes out that does work!
WhoCares 0 Posted March 7, 2006 I just started to play the 'Last Days'-Mod (LotR-setting, main fractions Isengard, Mordor, Rohan and Gondor, with some additional minor sections) - very nice, despite some minor issues here and there. Regarding stability I can't really moan after I have solved some serious problems with the copy protection in an earlier version. A crash once in a while, but hey, it's still Beta  As general info for those reading first time about it, the game is still in development. You can download the latest version from the page I linked above and play it as a demo to level 6 (with as many characters as you wish). For a fee (currently 14$ ) you can get a key which allows you to continue. This key will also allow you to play the final version (curreently supposed to cost 25$ ). xawery 0 Posted March 7, 2006 What an awesome game. I recommed using the Storymod - the creator is a professional writer. The story is simply excellent... BTW - does anyone feel the need to create characters with ridiculous names? Mine is called Cecil the Contumacious...
NeMeSiS 11 Posted March 8, 2006 BTW - does anyone feel the need to create characters with ridiculous names? Mine is called Cecil the Contumacious... I have a guy that looks like a viking called Ulfgar Knäckebröd, i couldnt think of anything else...  EDIT: My nord character in morrowind was also called like that..., i need more fantasy... kevbaz 0 Posted April 3, 2006 0.731 is out, yet not tested throughly and may have bugs/ stability problems it wont load my savegame made with 0.731 which is a pain, hopefully itll be sorted soon, some nice new features including a pistol :P
xawery 0 Posted April 3, 2006 0.731 has been out for over a month... And yeah, savegame compatibility is a pain, but it's fairly easy to export/import your character. Just edit the txt and give yourself some extra shopping money to get your equipment up to par. Sadly, you'll still have to build your warband from scratch... BTW, should anyone get bored with vanilla M&B or the numerous mods, give the mod tools a try. These (community made! mod tools are so user friendly even I can use them. I've made a little WFRP mod for my own enjoyment
xawery 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Version 0.750 has been released! Just thought I'd let you all know The new version includes new face textures... They look amazing, haha. I have finally been able to make a copy of myself. Also, 0.750 includes voiceovers. Now the river pirates you so effortlessly slaughter are no longer mute. Quite the contrary - they seem to be more skilled in shouting abuse at you than fighting. Before I forget, the links: http://www.taleworlds.com/download/mountandblade_0750_setup.exe http://www.fenrisoft.com/storage/mountandblade_0750_setup.exe http://www.mbrepository.com/mountandblade_0750_setup.exe Have fun! WhoCares 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Very nice - the perfect tool to carry me over the next few days before I get my ugly paws on ArmA. Though I already read about plenty of bugs and crashes...
ebns72 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Just downloaded this as well Love the equipment visible on you, I look like a real soldier now.
Fork122 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Awesome! But wheres the .80 link, I only see .750. Can't wait to try out the new version
xawery 0 Posted November 28, 2006 you can find the new version here. It's a nice, fast mirror. The new release is nice, especially the possibility of more than two parties duking it out at the same time. Shame it's a bit buggy, but hey, it's still beta... Oh, and the shield on back giving you extra protection is also a very nice touch
