Tie Fighter was quite nice at its time - ~15 years ago tounge_o.gif

Well, they have to start the promotion for the final Star Wars movie, coming on 19th May.

But it will suffer from the same problem as the newer games, I guess crazy_o.gif

What about Knights of the Old republic and its sequel Sith lords ?

Those were good games plus Jedi Academy and the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series.

i didnt like knights of the old republic, it was a converted console game, and you could see it by the looks, and the adventure part was a disapointment for me

Dark Forces and TIE Fighter went by me unnoticed, wasnt into computers at the time

the only star wars game i liked, i rember was a strategic game, but i dont remember the name, and no i dont mean Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, which was another horrible star wars clone tounge_o.gif

Rebellion? I liked that one too. I admit some of the star wars games sucked but Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 were both great games.

LucasArts is defenitely going down these days with Schorsch exploiting Star Wars. what about Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Full Throttle? Cancelled or turned into some 3D action adventure crap...

XWing was good. Dark Forces too (small revolution back then with true 3D). Jedi Knight 1 and 2 had good stories. Rebel Assault was a killer app for CDROM (together with 7th Guest).

But nowadays? R.I.P.

This is what Lucas Arts has in store for the future:

Quote[/b] ]He's set in his ways, but he has had to make changes in his sprawling business empire, with its nearly 2,000 employees. It includes ILM, which does special effects for him and much of Hollywood; Skywalker Sound, used by scores of moviemakers; and Lucas Arts, his fast-growing video game company.

The divisions have always operated independently, until now. "We reorganized to try to get more control over the companies," says Lucas. "This is just saying that, 'Gee, we have a video game company and we have a video animation company. These two companies should actually be talking to each other because they're doing exactly the same work.' And they weren't talking to each other."

Now, they're going to do that. This summer, all the businesses will move in together, for the first time, on one of the most coveted pieces of real estate in America. Lucas' new headquarters is nearing completion at the old Presidio military base in San Francisco.

Cant say if the games are going to be better if ILM and Skywalker Sound have a part in future games.

They did great games with lesser budget in the 90s. "Great" meaning story, characters, gameplay --things you can only buy with the right game designers. Designers which LucasArts lost. Tim Schafer left when they abandoned the adventure game genre. And Ron Gilbert...

Maybe after the final film they'll stop lowering the movies into mediocrocy and let the series die. They probably won't, but one can always hope.

Republic Commando was surprisingly good, but I'll have to agree that this game looks below average, even for a LucasArts title.

Man you guys are harsh!

Keep in mind games like Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, etc as good as they were, sold like crap.

The LucasArts adventure franchise is dead... sad_o.gif

Both the development of sequals to Sam & Max, and Full Throttal were droped.

Who wants to cater to the grognards and such when you can make a GTA clone or another Star Wars FPS that well sell kabazajillion copies. biggrin_o.gif

I well always charish my memories of playing DF: JK1 on the Zone. (w00t go Jedi High School!) smile_o.gif

Really? I've in mind that these games were at the top of the charts back then. Sold like crap?

But that's exactly why the computer games industry is going down.

Warren Spector:

Quote[/b] ]Wal-Mart drives development decisions now. When publishers minimise risk by kow-towing to the retailers, you have a serious problem. When every game has to either be a blockbuster or a student film, we got a real problem. For my end of the game business all of our efforts are going into reaching a mainstream audience who may well even not be interested in what we do! My first game cost me 273,000 dollars. My next one is BLAH millions. How many of you work on games that make money? 4 out of 5 games lose money, according to one pundit who may be lying, admittedly. Can we do any worse if we just trusted the creative folks entirely instead of the publishers?
