Milkman 1 Posted February 1, 2005 Not a good gaming year for the PC at all, I only bought Half-Life 2 which was IMO way overhyped. Far Cry was maybe the best FPS of the year, fun and relatively free which makes it at least a bit innovative. Half-Life 2 didn't have any advertising, so I have no idea where you got the idea that is was "overhyped." Want something thats overhyped, and terrible? (Campaign bleh) Try Halo 2. I mean, they had trailers for it in the movies, how much more hyped can you get?
jakerod 254 Posted February 1, 2005 I think Halo 2 was overhyped. All in all I think the campaign for the first one was a lot better. It isn't even that great of a game if I had a choice between a million copes if halo 2 to 1 copy of ofp i would take ofp... or take the millions of halo 2s sell them buy ofp and a new computer, but that would be illegal i think. *runs realizing Halo 2 is not the topic*
red oct 2 Posted February 1, 2005 i thought Halo 2 was cool. or at least it was way better than the first one. but i'll agree that there seems to be more crappy games comming out such as this one: http://pc.ign.com/articles/582/582748p1.html

Madus_Maximus 0 Posted February 1, 2005 MOH PA is pretty visuals and poor repetetive gameplay like all of the other MOH series games. It was acceptable about 3 years ago but these days games are more complex and it just doesn't cut it any more in my opinion. Also they seemed to have got lazy on the faces side of things. All the Japanese blokes look the same as do all the Americans. The only difference is clothing and maybe facial hair on some. MASSIVELY overhyped, like 99.99% of EA games. I fully disagree...  i also dislike mopa, can´t understand how you get so much fun out of it..but that´s a matter of taste  edit: the best MOH game was allied assault imho, nothing beats the air insertion from the 1st level ! for the list i would cut doom3 out since almost all members here have the same negative opinion about it btw: i dont really have to see pirates on the list but regarding it´s enormous reputation which it carries since c64 days it´d  be a sin not to mention it
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 1, 2005 MOHPA has limitations.. but the athmosphere (if your computer can do full settings) is realy movie-like and they were able to export it into Multiplayer too! I intend to delete Warhammer 40k Thief 3 Splinter Cell Pandora Star Wars Battlefront Chronicles of the Riddick Joint Operations What do you think.. this would leave us with -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Medal of Honour Pacific Assault Rome Total War Hitman 3 Panzers Far Cry Richard Burns Ralley Pro Evolution soccer Sacred Pirates Half Life 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Akira 0 Posted February 1, 2005 I would defintely keep Pirates as I've been playing it since it came out. Why Star Wars Battlefront? It introduced nothing new but a Star Wars setting for the Battlefield 1942 style game...ah..nevermind ya deleted it. Looks like a good list to me.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 1, 2005 whats the thrill in pirates?
Akira 0 Posted February 1, 2005 whats the thrill in pirates? If its not something you are into then little I would say would sway you. If you like the original Pirates! Gold then you will love the new Pirates. It's open-ended with a broad "storyline" you can take your time to follow. The graphics are nice, combat is fun, and there are a variety of routes you can take. Right now I'm an English captain sailing in a stolen French ship-of-the-line (48-gun frigate). I've captured most of the outlying French islands (all except Martinique) and Tortuga and Port-au-Paix....before I realized that the English and French weren't at war...not at war until I started taking their settlements that is. I've amassed about 2000+ acres on St. Kitts.
mr burns 132 Posted February 1, 2005 sailing in a stolen French ship-of-the-line (48-gun frigate). word !! that´s my fav too although i haven´t played for a while because i switched to a too high difficulty by mistake, now my crew always runs away after only 130 days.. not very encouraging for me but ill take it as a challenge
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 1, 2005 I thought about buying the game that is gonna win tomorrow poll! why not? in the end it is an OFP-FAN gamers award
xawery 0 Posted February 1, 2005 My vote goes to Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. A sleeper hit, if you ask me. The pc version is truly amazing. While I understand that Vin Diesel-action may not be everyone's cup of tea (nor is it mine, normally), this game is so immersive and cinematic that I can only compare it to System Shock 2, excitement-wise. The gameplay is completely different of course, but you know what I mean. The combination of stealth, over-the-top action, very different settings, great voice-acting (go to www.imdb.com and take a look at who's contributed!) and the very cool commentary mode make this my favourite game of 2004. Heatseeker 0 Posted February 1, 2005 Hitman 3 , i mean im a fan of the character but the Glacier engine looks way outdated, the weapons were poor and they ported a whole bunch of old levels into the new game, cinematics are poor and some of the old a.i. bugs were still present, cant believe you let this budget one in .
