A New AH-64 Pack

Finally I see Apache mods waking to life (allmost 3 years after OFP was released) smile_o.gif

I have yet to see anyone doing a complete overhaul of the pilot and cp/g pits. They desperately need a facelift and update. Atleast a proper pilot pit for the D-model.

I do plan on doing an apache pilot w/ the IHADSS gear, but It would be a difficult model for me to do. I might get someone from one of the mods im in to help me w/ that though.

The smoke is allready done and I might add some fire, and there will also be debris randomly placed around it, and maybe some other parts that can be moved (like barrels).

And SEAL84, I saw something similar on google.

Another thing....no one has got this correct so far: Get a decent zoom on the gunner sight. The RL apache has, and im quoting from the Janes Longbow 2 manual here: 16x zoom.

Make the apache as deadly in real life. We should be able to see enemy far away, not only in radar but visual too.

Yeah I have a few ideas/tips/things I can't do cause I have no idea how.

1. the cockpit,every apache looks the same in this game,all BIS but if the apache was wider at the back like the real thing then that would be a small but great change.

2. engines a bit more round,not essential

And if you decide to go script heavy or something then heres a few (okay alot) of things,for one,the chain gun targeter looks the same in the hind and any other attack helicopter on OFP,make it like th real thing (which has 4 visuals I think)

Other than that I can only think of sound because the moving rotor blur isn't really a big issue,I would do these myself but I have no idea how.

Well,the green screens are of course in dark areas (nightvision), the kind of blueish are used in day,or were,before they upgraded to the fullcolor in depth camera,the gray ones are night,kinda sort of thermal,the hot stuff is brighter,the gray is same as black,and the last picture of course is the head of an AH-64Dgunner.

You could just somehow make the screens switchable,for instance you can either use the black or green at night (dark blue as well) or light blue and normal for day,or whenever the player wants and let them blind themself with the green,by the way,that bright light in the blue picture in the middle of the third row is a tank,in the video basicly it gets blown up.

Also the numbers on the green one in the the fourth row,last picture are coordinates,I saw more and more numbers and letter appear as the tank was targetted.

btw,the gunners NV sensor isnt colored like that,really there is no "real" color to it as it is basicly a mirror,I found this out when I went to an airshow.

I would have gotten better pics from the inside,they said I was the perfect size to fit but naturally the little kids grabbed the "do not touch" objects and broke some of them,fricking kids..need to learn to read and understand...

there was a variety of people there,they also used C-130's to drop WWII veterans,all ya saw was a sky full of parachutes,one came down slow,guess he liked being in the air,and there were even hindus rock.gif

Cool,an no prob about the pics,I'm a really huge AH-64D fan so chances I'd download this one even if it didn't have all the things I talked about,good luck on it by the way,but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that you will change the cockpit (crushed in one just used in every apache addon yet @.@)

ok not to bring back the Sidewinder talk but AAM's are relitivly new for helicopters they only realy were introduceded around 1990's

so the when it comes to retro fitting a weapon onto a helicopter it is a little hard but afaik the Longbow has sidewinders being it entered service in 1993 or so, so if you are going to use Hawks scripts (the one from his Ka-50 and modified DKM Mi-28)or one like it you should lable seperate 1990's longbowand call it AH-64D 'Longbow' 90's or somthing then have the normal AH-64D 'Longbow' and add sidewinders to the loadout

but if you are not using that type of scripts then dont worry and just add the sidwinder varrient because it is a official loadout and only recently have they had a chance to use them i.e. Afganistan war and the Iraq war

AFAIK The US Army trialed the AIM-9, but chose the AIM-92 Stinger as its ATAM. So Boeing still advertises the Apache as capable of being armed with the Sidewinder, but the ATAM used by the US Army is the Stinger and not the Sidewinder (Which would make sense with the resupplying).

In real world I believe apaches have the ability to slave their guns to a target, like when u have the ai as a gunner. Id like to see this feature in MP play also, where there is a human gunner. It should come in real handy when fighting enemy helis (the ai even leads their targets) or doing strafe runs on enemy inf. I often get dizzy and disorientated without such a feature. Imagine being able to slave the gun to a spot where u uspect enemy inf, your pilot does a flyby of that area, (making the heli a much harder target than hovering) while your gun stays glued to that spot, without having to adjust your mouse in the process. Is this possible to implement?

And make sure u tweak the configs so that every unit out there will be able to shoot at it (if thats their function) , e.g make it comaptible with BAS units. Lots of heli addons dont get shot at if I use BAS units.

BTW, the new zooms looks wicked.

Actually BIS had these textures allready stored in the apache pbo, just waiting for me to use smile_o.gif. Any more pictures of the cockpit (especially gunner seat) that anyone has, please post them.

orlo are you talking about JAM machinegunners shooting at helos? Well I tried that out and they will shoot at you, and it could be a real pain in the ass if you don't kill them.

The sidewinder/ATAS won't be a problem anymore cause I made 2 versions, 1 with ATAS on wingtips and 1 with sidewinders, so mission editors can choose.

can i end the whole stinger-sidewinder argument real quick here?

for some of us OFP is an obsession... but obsession or no its still a game. and games = possibilities.

if you dont want the sidewinders on the AH64 dispite the "possibility" because it is unrealistic, and you strive for absolute realisum. then i suggest your local recruiters office.

i know latly ive been flipin out on people and perhaps its due to work related stress. perhaps its due to lack of sleep. but seeing this "i refuse to play with this addon because it isnt realistic enough" comments doesnt aide in my attempts at calming down either.

OFP isnt real. OFP is fun. lets make addons fun too  smile_o.gif

with that said...

can you make a "futuristic" version of the AH64 with the DREAD Weapon System on it? (using the 50 caliber configurment with the 10,000 round mag) please?!  biggrin_o.gif

PS: make sure to send him 400 emails, 320 PMs, and call his home number 8 times a day. so that when people go "0mG you h4x0r.. you st0led his textures!" you can go "i asked and he didnt reply" and hopefuly they wont bitch (as much) tounge_o.gif
