Empty:1,067 lb (484 kg)

SUU-23/A With 1,200 rounds:1,730 lb (785 kg)

Empty:1,078 lb (489 kg)

SUU-16/A, 23/A2 pods Length: 16 ft 7 in (5.05 m)

Diameter: 22 in (560 mm)

It seems to be the M61A1 Vulcan 20-mm Cannon (have a look here, and some history here).

Before being mounted in the nose of the E-model, the use of gunpod by fighter was fairly inaccurate :

The answer was the underwing gunpod. F-4Cs and Ds used the SUU-16/A gunpod mounted on the centerline hard point quite successfully during the 1967-68 period. But the pods were not a stable enough gun platform for accurate air-to-air fighting. They wobbled and shook when fired, causing cannon shells to spray all over the sky instead of a concentrated stream to the target aircraft. The McDonnell proposal was to mount a General electric M61-A1 20mm Gatling cannon internally in the aircraft. With Vietnam experiences and recommendations in hand, McDonnell engineers began work on the gun-armed F-4E in 1966.

the AG versions dont attack ground targets.... atleats it doesnt look that way...

they just fly around not attacking anything....

[edit] as pilot im not able to "lock" ground targets and assign them to my wingman either....

that makes the A/G version pretty useless...

TomiD - Add irScanGround=1 to the config to solve the

what is the method for adding Rezins pilots to the aircraft for missions? Planes just don't look right with defualt bis jet jockeyes at the sticks..

If the plane is an empty object:

this moveInDriver planeName

If the plane already has a default AI pilot in it:

ok now gotta ask. any chance of a good crashed version for nam SAR missions and a good grey gulf war style wild weasel with AGM-88's and such ...and the classic WW tail flash ?

Great job! The textures and loadouts are great.

I have a request though. For me the F-4 flies like a brick, and it is easily outmanuevered in dogfights and it takes forever for it to circle around any ground targets for a second run.

I am not sure if the real phantom flies like that in real life but I was wondering if maybe for your guy's next release, you could tweak this so it would be more maneuverable and enjoyable.

anyway. i know this isnt as great as my others.. i just wanted to point out that the phantom is the last peice of the puzzle for a nam era carrier deck
