Project: UK Forces Land Rover Pack

Recommended Posts

ah, ok. Didn't know that, but that's because I'm not on the team. Too bad OFP can't handle a belt. It would have looked a lot better.

How random crazy_o.gif

Anyway, the topic is Land Rovers, not random rubbish. Stay on topic or face the usual consequences. smile_o.gif

Just got back into OFP after a couple of weeks of disinterest thanks to these, I spent most of tuesday night messing about with the desert 110s and the ADF pack on Tonal.

Tonight I had fun getting my British infantry platoon ambushed by Serbs at a roadblock and then chasing them down with the mag armed landies.

Much fun and stress relief, I thank you sincerely biggrin_o.gif

You have favourite episodes of red cap?

Are the pintle mounts ever used for Minimis on the general service LRs?

It was not THAT bad, I would rather watch Red Cap then the wave of US Crime shows that are clogging our networks at the moment.

What I really miss is the new gunmount for the GPMG. You used a simple mount which is crap (in RL). The new ones have a spot for a belt-box (which you can also use; that very short belt looks silly) and a box beneath the gun to make sure the ejected catridges are disposed of properly (and don't end up flying inthe neck of the driver, which is very painfull).

also remember the link ejection guttering (well, i forgot them name... ok) to the right hand side... GPMG's eject casings below and links to the right...

as for the 'correct' mount - i've been working on the correct mounting for the other landrover models, so you'll get your nice mount soon enough

I think a recce version with camo nets and the GPMG mounted at the passenger seat would be cool. Like that G-Wagon someone made.

yep, you're right.

But I don't know what you prefer;

-a seperate link or;

-a very hot ejected casing wink_o.gif

That's what the 'correct' mount is for. But your laro's (I believe you brits call em 'landies'?) have this very basic mount (even without beltbox)in RL also (I checked). Only the 'purpose-build' armed laro's have the 'correct' mount. But those often have more than one weapon installed.

A little fact about the links;

the GPMG mount on the WMIK has a metal plate deflecting the links downwards to the same spot as where the casing end up. then te fall on the same plate where the casing fall which deflects both elements forward away from the gunner.

They normally fall in a bag, but if this bag isen't installed, the casings and links fall directly downwards. So they don't hit the driver or cargo.

the recce versions used by the british indeed have camo-nets ect ect.

But they never use a GPMG placed at the pssenger side (as the only weapon installed). They have it placed on the 'roll-bar' behind the driver (just like the armed version in this pack).

refering to the 'deflection plate' - the reference photo's we've dug up show more of a tube structure (be it a square tube) which links directly to where the links eject, and then ejects the links itself either into the casing bag/box or onto the florr below - which one is chosen seems to be dependant on age of the photo

http://www.operations.mod.uk/veritas....mik.jpg

you can see the 'tube' to the left (or gunner's right) of the gpmg

as for the camo nets etc... a modified recce version of the landrovers (basically the 110 and 90 GPMG model) is being worked on.

yup, a tube. Call it what you like. English is not my first language, so I sometimes won't use the right words.

The later version eject it in the bag, I think. At least the photo's I've seen where from Irak and quite recent.

"Spejder GD"  Mercedes 240 GD by  Frandsen, at list that what it say in the readme. biggrin_o.gif

Was my favourite west light vehicle until this landies came out, I'm just waiting for them landies with camo nets to be released now biggrin_o.gif  thanks for letting us know Messiah.

It would be good if you add a camo net that fits nicelly on them aswell, so it can be scripted ider by you lot or by the user to be able to put the net on the vehicle with the action menu.

i'll have to search around for that... havn't come across any pics yet - sounds like a problem solver for us in some respects smile_o.gif
