I do. 2,8 HT but anyway I find that soft useless as I am not gonna masturbate over my pcs' power watching short films.

It is a benchmark soft that is supposed to measure PC's performance. With big SUPPOSED TO.

Oooh it's so exciting, more people posting worthless numbers which mean little, what's important is how well a game you want to play runs on your system, anything else is a waste of time, IMO of course smile_o.gif

What I do is just read the box of the game i want, if i have my pc that is less than those requirements i don't buy the game but I see that since this benchmark program comes with some goodies how people like it so much. Something to spend time doing i guess.

3D mark has little to do with actual performance ingame in my experience...I don't think I'll bother to even install this, 03 works just OK on my comp.

I have an Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3000+ via multi.

2x 512MB DDR333 Dual channel ram

Geforce FX5900XT 128MB.

...and the first test starts with ~3fps

I cancelled 5seconds after, cause it says absolutly nothing about the performance of my pc.

This benchmark is getting more useless every day.

Save your time and bandwith, don't download that crap.

If you want low fps, set very high terrain detail and viewdistance 5000 in your ofp preferences.

I've been whinging for years to anyone who'll listen how useless and irrelevant it is wink_o.gif

IMO 3Dmark score is about as much use as your IQ, how many people in prison have genius IQ levels? It's not the number it's what you do with it that matters smile_o.gif

if you have some skills with config editing you can make any game run properly...

with Farcry you could force the use of Pixel Shaders 2 , giving more FPS (outdoors!) with doom you could allow it to use more memory (normally it used 32 MB , change that to 128 and you had blazing performance).

i don't care about my score, but i just find those demos breathtaking tounge_o.gif

if you stop halfway trough a condition tests or school exam, the test results will not be correct... same with 3Dmark , every scene / demo focusses on a diffrent aspect of the PC's performance...

Oh.. Stop whining guys. All these 3D Marks have lagged in the initial release for most users. I mean 3D Mark 2001 lasted until 2003. This one is called 2005 and is probably expected to function as a measurement tool beyond 2005. There’s no fun in it if it would run smoothly already. The fun part is in upgrading stuff and seeing improvements.

Exactly!

3Dmark is not about showing how good you graphic card is running today’s games. It might give you a clue about how well future games will work on a specific card. 3Dmark03 told us that the GF FX series had poor PS2.0 performance long before we saw any PS2.0 games and now that those games are here we can see that 3Dmark03 was correct about that.

What 3Dmark05 has showed us is that there isn’t much performance difference between PS2.0 and PS3.0, just as Far Cry patch 1.2 showed us. The X800XTPE is faster using PS2.0b then the 6800U (using PS3.0) in shader intensive applications.

If have seen the full test on a customers PC at work.

3000+, 1,5GB ram, Radeon 9800XT, and on that pc the tests run constantly at ~10 fps.

So I know my PC runs it constantly at ~3fps.

10fps is not smooth.... 3fps is not smooth.

I am not gonna wasting my time with that lag-test.

There is only one thing you can use this program for. Run a benchmark before you update your Hardware, save the results and run the benchmark after the hardware update. Now you can compare the new results with the older ones. But I think for most of us 3DMARK03 is "more compatible".And don`t only compre the score, there is a detailed listing of the results of every test performed by the program. You can also try different settings,in BIOS for example, and look what efect this will have for youre system performance.

It's not entirely useless. First of all there's obviously the people reviewing hardware that need some common benchmark. Usually the 3d hardware is way ahead of current games, so something is needed to test the full capacity of modern garphics boards.

Second, it gives a nice preview of things to come. 3DMark05 gives a good demonstration of what kind of graphics we can expect in a couple of years.
