theavonlady 2 Posted September 8, 2004 They should have had Hollywood stunt pilots ready to hook it out of the air before it hit the ground. Pity. Now I'm waiting for all the Pentagon crash conspirators to shout "You see! You see! There's lots of wreckage!"

blackdog~ 0 Posted September 8, 2004 GIANT_B52 fits it better though but since it HAS to be lowercase I guess that'll do ;) 27ft wingspan...
theavonlady 2 Posted September 8, 2004 $15K? That's it? SAAB must be sobbing. Maybe it crashed because a pidgeon got sucked into an engine intake. That's most remarkable. Pity there's no soundtrack.

Maybe some gear damaged...hmm...I don't know... No, it crashed like a real B52. They were turning it around a little bit too hard and then it just dropped like a stone wingtip first. I will get the video tommorow.
ozanzac 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Wow, that's a cool model.......It even crashes and burns like a real aeroplane! I can see the advertising now........... "Do you have a son who wants to be an aircrash investigator?.........well now your in luck.......introducing Acme co.'s crash investigation kit.......for the fraction of the cost of crashing a real plane, you can train junior up right now.........." Leveler 0 Posted September 10, 2004 The eight blobs in the first picture are the engines? They look way too small for such a big aircraft.
theavonlady 2 Posted September 10, 2004 The eight blobs in the first picture are the engines? They look way too small for such a big aircraft. Yet it worked. On a scale basis, aren't they the same size as a B52's? Furthermore, on a scale basis, isn't this model B52 much lighter than had it been made with the same materials as a real one?
Leveler 0 Posted September 10, 2004 I have never seen a b52 engine dissasembled but if you compare the first pictures (use the people as scale) the blobs are less than half the size of the engine on the model. We also do not know how efficient these engines are and how much thrust they produce and it sounds from the description that the aircraft stalled in a turn. By the way I have seen somebody crashing his remote airplane in the same way. He brought it in a foodball field closeby to spite all the kids in the neighbourhood , set it down really slowly and before the airplane had risen 3 meters turned it to the right. It slipped of the air sideways and smashed down. He took the pieces home in a plastic bag
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted September 10, 2004 Awesome machine. It had a really nice sound! And it really went down like a real one. A sad ending.
