privatenoob 0 Posted April 15, 2006 I'm thinking about getting this game. I have a few questions that someone who already bought it might be able answer.1 - Is the game good? Better than the UT04 mod? 2 - Does it feel like the old Red Orchestra mod for UT04 in terms of realism and gameplay? I promise you, once you play the real version, you never wanna go back. First thing you do after you played it is uninstalling the mod. Soldier animations and feeling is so much much better and the sound is just awesome. And Im guessing they are gonna keep updating it so it only gets better.
punishment 1 Posted April 16, 2006 i think pc gamers review is acruate : It puts too much faith in the players and most players are morons . lol Team work is esential but if people aint in clans then the majority dont. A good game i must admit but one of the most un user friendly i have played
BlackScorpion 0 Posted June 12, 2006 This thread isn't that old yet so I'll just post this here. I bought RO: OST '41-'45 about 1.5 weeks ago. So far, the gameplay itself is excellent, still true FPS but very realistic. Although a tad clumsy sometimes, but still overall very nice. My problem is that nearly every time I join a server, it sort of times out. Jams. Usually the situation is that I join a server, wait the normal 3-5 mins for the map to load and just choose side and the role. Then I deploy and that's where the trouble is. I rarely can move at all, and can only fire a bit, depending on the weapon. If I'm carrying an SMG, I can keep on shooting for as long as I want, atleast in continuos full auto. On semi-autos, like pistols, I seem to be able to empty the mag. On bolt actions, it's a single round. And melee action of course. So, basically the game jams, wouldn't be surprised if it disconnects from the server all by itself. Just me standing there. Sometimes it simply lags out. Last Thursday, first I got into a game normally, worked at the first try. It was full though, and because I was playing with a mate I decided to change the server. He got into one, worked perfectly for him and his brother who later joined us. After getting into the server successfully after 3 to 5 tries, that's over 20 mins, I played for about 10-15 mins, then the match ended and server changed. In there, Odessa, I spawned as a Russian, and could actually see friendlies running, but not moving. The same has happened atleast once before, I was able to roam around the map (not running though) but nothing actually happened around me. I tried to play on atleast 2 or 3 servers tonight. Tried both a tad, nothing. I managed to spawn once or twice, few times I couldn't actually get into the field either. Despite trying for over 20 mins, no playing for me tonight. I've only played online for about 4-7 times so far. And tried to join atleast few dozen times, that's a very bad ratio and really pisses me off. Could anybody help? I'm also planning to try agin tomorrow night, another "'dathon' evening coming...
Nathan Bedford Forrest 0 Posted June 13, 2006 ^^^ Computer specs? Inc. connection.
BlackScorpion 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Ah, sorry. Connection is 1,5/0,5 Mbit/s. PC has Windows XP SP2, Geforce FX5600, AMD Athlon 3000+. Reall wierd because it does work sometimes and when using the practise mode, but most of the time not in MP.
Warden 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Hmm from what you describe your having a connection problem to the server, try on the Steam/Ro forums for some fixes.
EiZei 0 Posted July 28, 2006 In other news the booster pack is out, gotta love those smoke nades in long open space dominated by defender's mgs and snipers. And more importantly, a free trial will begin next wednesday (second of august) which will last 5 days, I can wholeheartedly recommend trying this game out, it is the only WW2 shooter I can be bothered with. I agree :P Smoke nades on Odessa add a whole new element. Nothing like spamming the smoke cloud with MG42 fire and nades. Area denial ftw I would advise you to pick up the trial and play it for a week, great game.

A lot of people stay away from the carbines because the description states they are less accurate than the long rifles, but I always go for them since they are quicker to shoot and shoulder - and IMHO I don't find their accuracy lacking Quote[/b] ]DP-28 is the chuck norris of RO weapons Ah, but when it comes to close range, there is a reason the PPSh41 was nicknamed "Papashka" (Daddy) 900 RPM baby . I'm also partial to trading my M38 or M44 for that nifty StG44 the German I just shot was carrying

Fork122 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Anyone else slightly annoyed how the new patch took out the class names being Schutze, ScharfSchutze etc. and turned them into "Rifleman", "Sniper"... Seems like the game is getting dumbed down

Tovarish 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Hipshoot. Always. You can't be serious! when i'm using an SMG in a CQC situation, unless I'm rushing to get to a point or I know for a fact there's a group of Germans around the next corner, I'm always walking around crouched, looking through the ironsight - that way a one second burst from a PPSh41 should be plenty to kill anyone. Ditto with bolt action rifles. Very often I'll run into an enemy who will hipshoot, miss, and while he's working the bolt or charging at me with the bayonet i'll take aim and get him. (once again the reason i prefer the carbines - quicker to aim and work the bolt)
GoOB 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Wohoo - In two hours the preloading will be completed, can't wait to get my hands on this game

(once again the reason i prefer the carbines - quicker to aim and work the bolt) I never do that. As generally whilst someone is doing that, I'm jumping out in front of them, strafing like a mofo and putting rounds into them from and SMG. Slow aiming is generally bad for entering areas. Usually you see the gun/other body part before he can see you. Just a case of waiting for the shot. Good SMG hipshooting is essential for any form of CQB - slow, aimed shots don't cut it in urban clearance. Once you get good at it you won't go back. I can hit more from the hip than I can with sights. Nothing more amusing than strafing up to a rifleman who's frantically shooting and missing. I tend to melee to give 'em a chance :P Rifle hipshooting is a good skill for CQB as well. If you can pop off a fairly accurate rifle hipshot then instantly you have an advantage over any other riflemen - and more chance against an SMG - than you would have normally. Although bayo and buttstocks are great. Even as an SMG class, I can't resist a melee fight with a rifleman even if it removes the fact that he would be dead if I'd have just shot.
