My main priority for this addon is playability and wont be picture postcard perfect. As for interiors, sheesh..to do ONE interiored building takes 2 days-pics, creating, LOD'ing, testing,etc....and i only started 3 days ago...

No worries, there will be some buildings that u can enter, and as for different levels, ai is not really ready for it, nor is today's graphic cards.. tounge_o.gif

It will probably take me 3 months to complete the city, but i should be able to release a playerable beta version next weekend. At least something to have fun with till the mods releases their high quality island...CHeers! wink_o.gif

now we need a hobo addon to fill the streets with sounds like "SPARE CHANGE" and "THERE WATCHING US, THERE WATCHIN US!". And the hobo could have a shopping cart car with a mounter m2 glass bottle launcher and whisky oil slick with mov. cocktails

Recently, I noticed the 'cartoony' look of some addons being made. (the super assassins with slick hair, the Super Marine chopper from OFrP mod etc)

Not that its bad, but gives us another aspect of gaming.

I hate when cities and such have buildings that are identical... What's the chances that 95% of the buildings a city would be identical? Also, the streets would be kind of empty for a city of that size sad_o.gif City simulation is just not possible at the moment. Nice concept though, would be a nice place to do a zombie map, but thats about all. The roads are kind of... wierd, maybe you'd wanna fix that up a bit Phil smile_o.gif

As for the cartoony feel, currently i am only using all paa files to ensure no lag. So far so good and will slowly increase the quality of the textures so that its still within my aim - playerability.

Sigh..i wish i can place all different buildings but the maths wont compute - 1 building = 10m square, 10 buildings = 100m square, 100 buildings = 1km square, 1000 buildings = 10km square:- = 1000 - 2000 textures . 1 paa texture size = 20kb, 2000 textures( excluding interiors) =40,000kb!!! ( have not even included the p3d file yet). Only those who does modelling can understand this. For those who want picture postcard perfect islands, no worries, there still are many impressive talents around wink_o.gif

Not true that city simulation is not possible. As long as u confine the missions to certain areas, u wont need to simulate the entire island. Thats why its critical to ensure not much lagging in the first place. Furthermore, what are the chances of fighting in forest and jungles nowadays?..very little as population growth has escalated, so has concrete jungle...better be prepared for concrete jungle warfare than think war is only confined to organic jungles- a dangerous mistake for would be generals. Anyway lol! its only a game.Cheers!

what are in those pics are based on a new island and new buildings i have created. Would love to use other's addons but have to overcome the lag issue first. It will just be an island pbo and buildings pbo. You should be able to put other addons in it if u want. So far even with interior buildings the island,buildings and all textures which are only using mine and not BIS except for grass and sand are under 1 mb..only 600kb smile_o.gif

With scripting and createunit'ing it would be possible to simulate a full city. A war-torn city full of baddies would also be possible to script, I could probably do it with some time.

The city is looking nice, but I think the textures need work.
