Why do WW2 games do not have swastikas?

Yes why do WW2 games remove the swastikas from their WW2 German vehicles, planes, and soldiers?

And they claim to be "the most realistic" WW2 Flight simulators, tank simulators, blah blah blah....

Because in Germany it is illegal to paint, draw, or wear a swastika, so I'm guessing that the makers of those 'realistic' games wanted a larger crowd, so they didnt print the swastika so they could sell it in Germany.

If a game has a Swastika and they want to sell the game where it is not allowed, most of the time they simply remove the Swastika, not too difficult.

Or I thought some games simply reverse the texture so its backwards, so its technically not the swastika and legal? (although in those pics I'm pretty sure its the real one)

beyond the borders of russia is ok, afaik only germany has a law against swastikas in media.

though it´s always being solved by simply removing or switching the relevant textures.

but since far cry got banned after it´s first release because you were able to revert the changes for the german market (no ragdoll) by little file changing .. im starting to doubt that changing swastika textures will be enough.

i just wonder why they were able to ban far cry, i read an article somewhere that the bpjs (the agency whichh does ban) got closed

BS! That is not a swastika and it is very well allowed in Germany. Google for Swastika and you know what we are talking about. The "Hakenkreuz" is forbidden in Germany, but that is about it.

The Swastika has ended up on several places through the history, it was (is?) used in India IIRC as a sign of the sun or something. Also it was on Thor's belt on the painting "Thor's battle against the giants" made by the Swede Mĺrten Eskil Winge in 1872. I don't think you can see it on this small picture, but it's there on the original painting.

FarCry was banned in Germany? that game was pretty tame compared to some of other games i've seen and played. there are ALOT more violent games than Farcry. theres Manhunt, Postal 2, Cronicles of Riddic Escape from Butcher Bay, and of course GTA. who or what exactly in Germany declairs a game is illeagal in the first place?

yea, one or two days after initial release it was taken out of the shelves because of that ragdoll issue.

as i said before, i thought it´s closed already..

feel free to search for manhunt or postal2 in german stores, you wont get them directly but maybe by asking the vendor (public advertising of banned media is strictly forbidden and will be fined). so if you don´t know of the game you won´t ever hear about it in germany.. it´s thought like that, there are lots of "hot spots" like kindergardens or schoolyards where these games are discussed and maybe pirated.

if you´re out of school or kindergarden you gotta inform yourself in the internet, so will i bacause i never heard of Cronicles of Riddic Escape from Butcher Bay

Because most of the games you speak of are not accepted by anyone as educational material, at least not yet, and there is no special comitee evauating their content for historical accuracy. Had this been done then they would have swastikas and david's stars, and they would be sold as educational titles.

You probaly won't see Cronicles of Riddic Escape from Butcher Bay, that too has ragdoll physics and some "creative" methoods of killings enemies. kind of a shame too, its the only hollywood based video game that came out that doesn't suck. still thinks its pretty silly that the government should take a interest in how children are raised. in the US we have something similar to the BPJM called the ESRB except it just rates the game according to its content and which age group would be suitable for playing it, they don't ban the game. So it would be the responsibility of the parents to judge which game their kid(s) can or can't play. there are 6 different rating symbols that a game can be labled as depending on its content, anybody interested can learn more about it here:

i might have seen the esrb label before on one of my many us/uk versions of playstation games, think it´s that redish one with the suggested age in the middle and lots of esrb´s written in tiny letters around it

it´s also banned here  

the real fun about germany is that we have something similar to the esrb too, called the usk , but the bpjs stands before it and doesn´t care about usk´s suggestions... kinda stupid imho

paradox, isn´t it

you can see naked people whenever you switch on the tv but violence is completely banned and´sometimes movies are cut that hard that you are really missing out on the story.

but some time ago they showed titties even in tv adverts for butter  

haven´t seen that in a while, either because i don´t watch tv that often anymore or these adverts came out of fashion.
