BoweryBaker 0 Posted June 27, 2004 i been doing martial arts for like since i was nine and im 23 now. i was just wondering if anyone else out there does it or has any fight stories. I got no fight stories. I only really been in one fight and i lost when i was twelve i think. Anyhow, one of my favorite martial arts movies is kickboxer. van damme was the shiznit in the late eighties, back when most of you were born. lol. since i started lifting weights cats don't want none. cats as in people, thats rap slang. My favorite part of the movie is when they go "NUK SU COW, NUK SU COW" which apparently means white warrior in taiwanese. He was amazing in that movie. I learned alot about fighting just by watching him. He has some of the most powerful kicks ive ever seen. On the real though, i once saw a real martial arts competition fight and it was kinda in this underground league in phoenix, arizona. i saw my sifu ( which is something like a martial arts teacher) cave this guys face in, bones cracking and all. He asked me if i want to ever fight and i was so nervous and i said let me see a match first. Then after i saw that match i said no because the injuries looked life threatening. I will only fight to defend myself but i believe that everyone should know how if they are a good person inside.

Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 27, 2004 I've been studying martial arts for a long time as well, since I was about 10 years old and I'm 26 now. I have lived in several cities where some styles were not available, so have tried out a few. But the one I stick with has been Ninjutsu, has the most interest to me. Just depends though on what you want. You can learn for self defense, competition, classical warrior style, or even modern military techniques. There have been a lot of great martial artists that have made it into films. Some of the most well-known include Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Sho Kosugi, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Chow Yun Fat, Steven Seagal, Wesley Snipes, Jet Li, Angela Mao, Michelle Yeoh, and David Carradine. Although some are not as well known as others, they are all good in both acting and practicing martial arts. I think everyone should give some style a try at some time. If you don't like it, find out why. But most people that try it love it, it's great for keeping in shape, helping with stress, and being able to defend yourself if and when needed. BoweryBaker 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Do you even remember Van Damme B2 or are you just like, "who's he compared to Bruce Lee?"? You might not remember him if you're young. He was a bigtime star in the late eighties early nineties. The muscles from Brussels.
Tamme 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Both my brothers have trained martial arts for years. And I like it too. It was about 5-6 years ago when I trained Shotokan Karate Do for a year, then I quit. Now, three months ago, I started training Tai Shin Mun Kung Fu. Pure monkeh style. Noone I've met has ever heard of it. Only 6 schools in the world (Malaysia, Germany and Finland) and a little over 300 practisioners world wide. (There are some minor groups in Britain and China at least, but they don't count as schools) I couldn't imagine my Si Fu in a match like that. It's just not what Tai Shin Mun is about, if you know what I mean. He was your kickboxing Si Fu? And Bruce Lee is the best, Van Damme isn't nowhere near that cool. denoir 0 Posted June 27, 2004 I have trained Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu for a bunch of years. Havn't done it for many years though.
Balschoiw 0 Posted June 27, 2004 When I joined the BW and did the accomadative training for the KRK and Rapid response forces I had my first contact with Mu Sa Do or better say the Musado Military Combat System that is based on KOONG YOONG MUSUL, BULKYO MUSUL and SADO MUSUL. Mu Sa Do is specifically used by military combat units with a high probability to get into close combat situations like paratroopers, recon units and here in germany the KRK and RRF forces. Musado is based on the following principles: - There are no special abilities, like physical strength or flexibility in movement needed. - it contains short and simple movements that fit the regular human movements pretty good - it teaches how to use things of regular life as weapons - it teaches how to end a fight in the shortest time possible - it has especially customized to police and military gear and it´s use in fights - it´s not a sport but has been developed to kill or mute people very fast and efficient Mu Sa Do fits best for my current jobs and it has proven very worthy at some occasions although you have to be careful when getting into a fight. Mu Sa Do is not intended to hurt someone, it´s intended to kill someone, that´s why.
Tamme 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Interesting, never heard of Mu Sa Do. Only knew about Krav Maga being used in military and police forces.
BoweryBaker 0 Posted June 27, 2004 @ Tamme: He was not only my kickboxing sifu, but he also trained us in karate do, and brought in a kung fu instructor to teaach us broadsword and chinese boxing. I learned alot from kickboxing, got really fit. Karate do i didn't like but its supposed to be really good , but in kickboxing i had so much fun. its always been my dream to learn it after watching the van damme movies. he looks so powerful. UsMarine408 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Oh well if its fight stories u want I got a ton see im the type that likes to stick up for people and seeing as alot of people like to pick on people u can see where the head crash. For staters no matter how long u do martial you still dont usually use what you know about it in fights for two reasons.1.Fear of really kicking someones ass bad enough to kill them or put them in the hospital 2.Because if u mess up ur in for it big time but well I actually got in a fight last night with someguy I saw while i was on my way to the movies with some friends. I dont know why but he was slapping the hell out of this one girl well I pulled up and said hey either you stop or Im gonna kick the shit out of you he pushed her and said just get back in your car and leave I dont wanna have to make you my bitch to well i didnt like that so I got out of my car and Hit him. Well to my suprise he knew alittle something something too lol. So at that point it was on at one point he threw a kick that nearly caught me in the nose but I managed to pull my head back fast enough and I came around on him with a back leg sweep took him right off his feet onto the sidewalk he was pretty much out cool cause he knocked the sidewalk pretty hard. So either he was out or he just didnt wanna go anymore but to tell u the thruth i wouldnt have wanted to fight anymore either after that nice thump. Well thats the only fight story Ill tell you about btw though as for the girl Turns out she was an abusive GF and he had had enough of it or something so he finally hit her back lol ooops on my part but in my eyes still not the right way to handle things. But hey if I can have someones opinion on the fight can someone tell me if i still did the right thing on beating his ass for think he was hitting her or should I have stayed out?:
Balschoiw 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Quote[/b] ]For staters no matter how long u do martial you still dont usually use what you know about it in fights for two reasons.1.Fear of really kicking someones ass bad enough to kill them or put them in the hospital I got another reason for you. Prior to my first assignment abroad I met a person who I never was in favour of. Well as I knew the owner of the club and didn´t wan´t to cause any stress inside I told this nice fellow to make his riot outside. We went outside and because of the assignment I had I didn´t do anything. I just stood there and the guy (a mindless jerk btw) punshed me hard. At least that´s what he thought  Well it didn´t really affect me, so I just stood there grinning all the time. He didn´t even manage to beat me to ground so he got really pissed and exhausted after a while. Finally he took a chair from the garden in front of the club and hit my head with it. At that time my brother with his girlfriend got out of the club, noticed my bloody grinning and took me to hospital. I had my nose broken (looks better than before now thanks to that jerk) some bones in the chest smashed and some bleeding from the chair on my head. Not to bad at all. I stayed 1 week in hospital, went to my first mission and sued him afterwards. That got me some 5000 DM cash and all my bills paid. A friend of mine who also was at the club told me afterwards that he was ready to assist me to beat this guy, but I only stood there grinning at the guy and he punshed and punshed and punshed but it looked that it didn´t have any effect on me. That must have made the guy that wild that he smashed his own car after I was gone    What an idiot... BTW I met him some years later as he was working as a temporary bouncer at a club I had also worked as a bouncer before. That was day when I decided to have some bouncer for supper and it was a fresh and nice thing to have him smacking his car the fast way  I never received any bill btw.

brgnorway 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Good story Balschiow I worked as a bouncer too for four years at a popular pub and a nightclub. I hate fighting - can't fucking stand it. I feel so sorry for all the innocent people getting beaten up in the taxi line outside the clubs - inside the clubs too of course. I've always wondered what makes people fight. I guess people do silly things to be admired and "accepted" as tough or whatever. I really hope they'll one day feel the anxiety and horror experienced by one of their former victims. I know people whom have been severly beaten up and to this day they don't dare to go to town anymore - and having seen all the incidents as a doorman I have to say I understand them. Fortunately I'm the "talkative" kind of guy and this prevented a lot of fights. It's amazing how easy it is to avoid fights - and still get what you want - if you are sensible and polite. My "trick" was always to isolate the trouble maker from friends or girlfriend(s) and talk to him in a way that didn't make him feel he lost his "face" . All the time I worked as a bouncer I never once hit anyone in the head. Too scared of causing serious damage thus I usually wrestled people to the ground instead. Only once did I end up in a serious fight where I kicked the person in the side and it was over. I started boxing when I was about ten and have done some kickboxing too. I have never injured a person - and hopefully never will!
B-2-0 0 Posted June 28, 2004 @BoweryBaker: Of course i know who van Damme is. Bloodsport and Kickboxer were faves of mine when they first were released My point was, he is nothing compared to Bruce Lee....a real martial arts legend. Many have tried to emulate him and all have failed. Jet-Li could probably come close but he uses wires too much which make his style look fake imo. I don't wanna spark off a 'My dad can beat up your dad' conversation but can you think of anyone from past or present, any fighting style that would take Bruce Lee out? His sheer speed and accuracy would fell any 'power fighter' such as as boxer etc, he wouldn't even get near. I am sure there are guys & gals out there who are top of the field in their chosen style who could give Bruce a run for his money but the great thing about Bruce was that his 'style' was the use of no style which meant he could adapt it to any style he came across. Bruce was awesome and it's a great shame he died as young as he did. Did you know: Bruce Lee had one leg shorter than the other?
IceFire 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Well my roommate is a teacher of Brazilian JuiJuitzu I have taken some lessons as a kid. Â But to me the "art" part of Martial Parts is where the discipline is less effective as an actual combat technique. Â It is not as effective to do in a real fight unless you are very proficcient in it, especially with all the high kicks. There are other "hand to hand combat systems" that are specifically used for combat. Â 2 that I am very aware of that are also used by militaries are "Krav Maga", and "Systema". Still, while fighting may be necessary to protect yourself or for whatever reason, care should always be taken. Â I do believe that violence is more often necessary than most people are willing to admit. Never fight because of "pride" or to show off that you are tough. Â There are alot of different factors out there. Â There is the emotional factor. Â You never know someone else's mind and emotional/psychological state. Â Some people are prone to rage and lose all control at a certain point, and these people can lose all control. Â Yes, even that nice guy you see every day at work. Â There are reports of people losing it in simple bar fights and pulling out a pistol and going on a shooting spree killing anyone in the vicinity. There was this guy in my highschool who I knew also. Â He was a normal popular kid. Â Funny, nice guy. Â Apparently something happened at home, his stepdad told him to turn off the TV at night. Â He didn't. Â His dad got mad and pulled him off the couch and pushed him away. Â This guy then lost it. Â He picked up a fireplace poker and tried to beat his step dad to death with it. Â His mom called the police. Later he said he just lost it. You just have to be careful. Â Some people take fights very seriously and wind up doing things they will later regret. Â I know I am a hothead sometimes. Â And if certain things set me off, I often regret what I do. That doesn't happen to me often though.
brgnorway 0 Posted June 28, 2004 1. People should learn to control their emotions which leads to overly aggresive behavior. 2. People should learn to shrug off an insult instead of using violent means to get back. 3. People should stop being so fascinated of violence in general. Allthough I doubt games, films etc make people violent, I don't reject the idea that it legitimates and creates a context for violence by those influenced by it. 4. Violence never proves right or wrong - only who's the strongest/best one to fight. 5. In most cases violence is NOT nessecary! For self defence yes - but honestly - how often do that happen? DarkLight 0 Posted June 29, 2004 Yeah i've done it a couple years (hmm not sure but i think i did if for about 6 years or something like that)... I dunno why i stopped... It didn't interest me anymore i guess... I'm a tall kid and stronger than most other people of my age... People don't attack me that much because in most cases it isn't smart to attack someone who's a lot bigger than you and maybe stronger too... It's silly to call myself strong but that's what other people call me too so i guess it's true... I've been in a couple fights already and i've never lost one so i guess i could say that i'm stronger than most people of my age (or a bit older). Anyway, i've never used any of the things that i learned during those lessons (i think i did ninjutsi/jijutsi or whatever it's called, karate and judo all combined in one organisation). If you ask me, that's the main reason why i stopped, it was useless to me and i didn't really enjoy it that much anymore. When i fight i don't use ninja kicks/punches, i just get really aggressive resulting in a scared idiot standing in front of me and after that it's just a matter of punching/kicking hard and on some painful spots. After that it's time for my favorite technique, usually i strangle them... I love doing that because it gives me the opportunity to watch them in the eyes from very close and to talk to them a bit while they start freaking out while gasping for air... Most of the time i grab their arms with one hand (i got big hands, it's easy for me to hold 2 arms with one hand) and with the other i grab their throat. I love the feeling of having control over them and, in theory, their life. Now don't worry, i won't kill anyone, i stop when they start crying or when they turn all blue. Most of them just start crying before they turn blue. You know you have to stop when one of those 'morons who NEVER cry' start crying. I just love the power. I love knowing that 5 minutes ago that moron wanted to fight me, and now he's lying on the ground gasping for air, wondering why the hell he wanted to fight anyway. Yeah i know, i'm weird... But at least i've never had to fight someone a second time... If you ask me (and as far as i have experienced) doing 'ninja moves' in a fight isn't very useful. Sure, if you're really good at it you can kick someone's ass big time, but if you're not a pro someone with an aggressive fighting style and enough power can take you down in no time. Just look at me, i don't have any technique at all and i still beat the crap out of everyone that i fight. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not one of those kids that lives in some kind of ghetto and that has to fight each day. And i'm not one of those kids that fight for no reason. I only fight when people seriously piss me off, when they attack me (or a good friend), or something like that. I don't fight a lot, most of the time when i'm pissed i just keep it to myself. But once i'm really pissed off all the anger comes out in one big explosion and i completely freak out. This has lead to some rather nasty situations that i'm not very proud of. Oh well, in the end, if you're friendly to me, i'll always be friendly to you... even if i don't like you at all. So if i do hurt someone then that's because it's their own fault. Actually i'd really like to learn how to fight with sticks and knifes. And i don't mean like grabbing eachother and stuff like that. I mean stick against stick or knife against knife. I'd love to learn how to fight with weapons like that but sad enough i don't know any organisation that does stuff like that.
