RED 0 Posted October 26, 2004 Has anyone practised Wing Chun? I knew someone who had done it for years, and was pretty good at it. Small thin guy, but could snap anyone in half if needed.(Wing Chun was used by Shaolin monks to beat the crap out of other Shaolin monks. Yikes! ) I have been learning Wing Tchun kung fu for just over 3 years now. Wing Tchun is the modern style of Wing Chun, takes away some of the less useful bits and adds others. Master Milan Prosenica of Wing Tchun teaches professional fighters (Cro Cop for example uses Wing Tchun footwork, watch his highlights video for some interesting fighting) I hate fighting on the street, it achieves nothing and is generally boring to watch However I love to sparr with my friends under controlled conditions, it really raises your fitness and strength levels. In class we don't usually sparr hard, though I have come out with bruises and bloody noses more than once. I enjoy training with other martial arts and seeing how well I can do against their style. It would be interesting if anyone else uses Wing Tchun or Wing Chun. RED nice to see that other forum members learn wing tsun too   i´m doing it for 2 month´s now and like it alot. never did any sports or martial arts before (except some rugby during my time in school)..but WT really impressed me, it´s more fun than i thought. here´s some movies if you´re interested (not showing me of course ): http://www.wt-muc.de/sites/movies.htm# Some interesting videos you found there, their sparring looks pretty uncontrolled though, that’s pretty easy to see from the 'Fight Club' video. They should be playing more of an in and out game, not just going crazy and taking a huge amount of hits for no reason! Check out the http://www.subfighter.com forums for videos of professional fighters. If you ever come over to the UK it would be good to do some training with you. Guest Posted October 26, 2004 [ig]http://imageuploading.com/041025/1098746253.jpg[/img] If you see that, you can see the left arm vertical, named an Agiuki (dunno if it's spelled right). It is one of the main blocks in Karate (my martial arts). A month ago, I was sparring with another guy. We had to punch slowly, so the others could block it fast and strong. So I punched, and he did an Agiuki, FULL POWER. It feels like when you a driving 25 km/h, with your arm out of the window, hitting a metal tube. My Sensei (teacher) said that I almost broke my arm. Kicking your balls, ok, that will hurt you ten minutes. You can better smash his arm, so he can't fight or a month!!!
BoweryBaker 0 Posted October 26, 2004 If I'm hit in my balls I give up instantly. Â Period. Â I don't know about you. Â Another thing is, that sux to be forced to witness the power of a block you probably won't remember in the heat of danger unless a stick is coming down on your head off a tree, like a branch or something. Â I doubt anyone swings from top to bottom like that. It seems to much like a weapon defence. Don't become too acustomed to using that on a regular basis, trust me. Â Had you know, you'd have looked alot smarter using a stick and It would probably have saved you a bruise. Â If I were your instructor id have you use a stick. Â It's not right to harm the students in any way. Â Anyhow...

mr burns 109 Posted October 28, 2004 If I'm hit in my balls I give up instantly.  Period.  I don't know about you.I´d have to ask him about the technique that can stop my heart which is mentioned in that book with the funky pics It's not right to harm the students in any way.  Anyhow... Our Sihing teaches us the chinese way, that means we always aim for the head/body and it´s ok to (be) hit because on the street it´d be the same, but of course we try not to break our noses in the process. BoweryBaker 0 Posted October 28, 2004 @Bordoy: lol I thought that the video at the top was impressive.....at times....but uhh...most of those moves didn't take into account that a body in a fight won't pause for you to perform nine sequential hits.
