Ar-15 base

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just made my first weapon addon and that made me feel good so I am going to share it with community. Message not addon. Unless U like it.

Here it is in hands of a daring Delta:

Tell me if u like it don't like it. What should change and what improve.

PS.

I don't care that there is so much of it out there, cause IT'S FUN TO DO IT.

There might be also:

AR-15 (I like to call them this) base, C-mag, scoped and different camo and combinations.

It looks pretty damn good to me...although the extended stock looks greenish which looks kinda wierd...it would look better if it was black like the rest of the rifle.

But aside from that it looks good...the true test however is to actually test it out in the game itself. smile_o.gif

By the way... if you're interested our Mod team (the Lost Brothers) is looking for someone to make a Negev machine gun if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer. I am a beginner. I would have to see the gun itself.

I am waiting for 3DS Max to arrive to make more detailed geometry.

I already did the very detailed stock in the LightWave but it doesn't want to be exported to O2.

I will change the green to see how it looks with black though.

The IMI Negev machinegun, doesn't look all that different from the FN Minimi. Also looks a bit like the FN FAL in my humble opinion. smile_o.gif

But good work on the AR-15! But keep on making stuff that makes you feel good, don't worry about what the community thinks you should do and not do smile_o.gif

Here's changed stock. I also added the Eotech version. I used an excellent BAS eotech sight which I like very much.

///It is for my personal use. For now at least. I would like to inform that if released it will be after receiving permisions from all third parties like BAS (eotech sight)///

There is also a C-mag version but I have to work on mag side textures first before I can boast about it  biggrin_o.gif

Thank you for such good comments. I appreciate it.

I think it looks quite good, isn't the AR the civillian version of the M16? If so, would be good if you could make a pack of civillian varients of weapons?? I think it would be more useful then one weapon on it's own.

I like to call them that rock.gif

Anyway in my files it's a M4 family variant. It was supposed to look like a "The Lewis Machine & Tool Monolithic Rail Platform", where the rail platform and receiver are machine out of one piece of aluminum, instead of being separate.

I like custom made weapons that are not that much different from base models.

i hate the way they hold it. Did you ever seen soldier holding weapon that way? this anim is weird.

Believe me. i live in Israel and see soldiers on the streets every day. EVERY DAY! they keep their weapons as BIS made exept muzzle is down.

Very good work, especially for a first addon smile_o.gif .

I have seen pictures of AR-15s with green stocks, even yellow stocks. There are some semi-nauseating color schemes on militarymorons .

Yes I know. That where most of the resources came from.

Also It is you who told me to make my own addons.

Looks good.

Piece of general advice, if you want anyone to use them the weapon should be included in a large mod/pack.

I make them for my own pleasure. This also helps me to learn about 3D modelling.

If anyone wants them than be my guest. I will take some time to finnish them off before giving out.

i would advice few fancy things... oh.. i feel speakless. i dont knowhe words... anyway. How do you call that thing that you must move backwards when you insert new magazine? Then this little thing should move everytime you shoot to insert new bullet into the muzzle. i saw ORCS made it on Ranger's pistol, but i wander why no1 made it on riffles?

If you didnt get what i said, i'll post picture. smile_o.gif

I was wondering how to do that.

I was also wondering how to make a reload anim more like a SF way.

That's because automatic pistols have slides, which move every time a round is fired. To see moving parts in a rifle like the AR-15, you'd have to lean around and look at the ejector mechanism. And if you're dumb enough to do that while you fire, then you deserve the burns you'll get when the hot brass hits you in the face tounge_o.gif .

Some larger weapon addons do have moving parts. IIRC, the I44 Thompson is animated so you can see the big charging bolt move back and forth. The problem is, with most rifles you never get a close look at the right side of the gun, which is where moving parts (Especially the ejection port) are usually located. This is why most people don't bother animating their rifles.

GREAT job! Need more modellers and texturers like you around in the OFP community!

I am currently working on a very detailed rail&receiver geometry model. It will not be flat with textures willing to be a real thing.

It will have sth like this:

rail.jpg

The outer stuff is basicaly done.

The inner is still to do.
