theavonlady 2 Posted May 8, 2005 Hmm - Does anyone know how to get the patching software working? I can't seem to figure that out... I think I missed something during the setup :S What's the problem? Are you talking about the 1.2 patch? It's an EXE file. Make sure you have the right patch file for your version. German? DVD or downloaded version? Thanks for the PM. mr burns 132 Posted May 8, 2005 somehow my ship identification manual only has reference about like 5 ships, just destroyers and the elco..sure i missed something important On the cover of the ship manual, there's a set of up/down arrows. Click on them until the cover displays a title not associated with a particular country. It's in German, so you should have no excuses, correct? correct, i can remeber clicking on all the arrows but forgot what happened   thanks for the advice

My version came with something called "gameshadow" - Maybe I don't have to use this? And it's the DVD version
Daddl 10 Posted May 8, 2005 I didn't install Gameshadow - it's fine if you just download the patches and install them manually.
theavonlady 2 Posted May 8, 2005 My version came with something called "gameshadow" - Maybe I don't have to use this? And it's the DVD version I deleted Gameshadow after I installed SH3. But that should not affect your installing an SH3 patch anyway. Which DVD? US? European? Here's the official SH3 downloads page. I'm guessing you need the EMEA (EMEA = Europe, Middle East and Asia) DVD V1.2 patch.

theavonlady 2 Posted May 9, 2005 I don't know why but ever since I've slapped my personal emblem on my Uboat, my crew's morale has sunk through the floor. (with thanks to Mr. Burns for his asssistance)
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted May 9, 2005 well considering that this sign usually decorates pubblic toilets I think morale is still quite high!
Colossus 2 Posted May 9, 2005 I got this posted at Ubi's forum too but I didn't know if you where gone see it, Avon. Quote[/b] ]I may have found a way, if you look at the file playersettings.cfg you find a place where it stands:E01=data/emblems/subemblems/flotillas/2nd flotilla.tga E02=NULL I think you got my point. Hope it works I think you can have two emblems with this. It lays the same place as the main.cfg file lays.
Daddl 10 Posted May 10, 2005 Patch 1.3 is about to be released. According to the german UBI forums it will be available here by 18:00h today (probably CET). Fixes crush depths, convoy escorts, and a lot of other stuff. Quote[/b] ]Silent Hunter III Patch 1.3This new patch modifies game data and in this cases the saves that are made while in missions will not work properly. We highly recommend before installing this patch that "all the Captains should returned to bases" or to load a previous in base save (after install) in order to avoid eventual problems. • Now external camera is linked to the U-boat using “,†and “.†• New order for Chief Engineer - Periscope depth • Torpedo tube ready message and voice is now active • View to heading order implemented using key “-“ • Head to view order implemented using key “=†• Fixes a bug where the oxygen was not replenished using snorkel • Fixes some bugs to dials in command and sonar room that display wrong information • A new advance plotting mode is available (thanks to Akifumi â€Jiim†Nojima) • Fixed a bug to the waypoint plotting system • The crush depth for all submarines has been corrected • Submarine damage model has been improved • Now Liverpool and Firth of Clyde are in the correct position • T II torpedo range bas been corrected • Type XXI torpedo loading speed had been corrected • More radio messages from BdU had been added • Escorts ASW attack methods have been improved • Escorts spawning issue was solved. Now the convoys will be better protected. • Navigation tutorial issue solved: there are no more sudden explosions on boats • Gramophone issue was solved: it will be available now while the in-game music was switched OFF. • Side of the detected ships is no longer revealed by radar or sonar • UZO view by night was improved • N-Vidia workaround was improved. First time when the user (with N-Vidia) uses UZO the spray bug will appear. If the user uses Ctrl+P that option will be stored in the main.cfg file and will not be necessary to switch off again that particle system (cause the main.cfg will be updated). The Ctrl+P now is linked only with the particle system from the sub so the other particles in the game will not be affected. When you will exit to free camera or any other view the particle system from the sub will be automatically restarted and the player will not have any issues related to it. After this the player can enter/exit UZO station without any other worries about Ctrl+P. We didn't make this ON by default because there are the users of ATI cards that have no need of this workaround. The N-Vidia users can also add in the main.cfg in video section, this line: HideParticlesNearView=Yes; • Un-checking the event camera in video settings now disables it regardless of the setting in the realism menu. The "no event camera" option in that menu is grayed out to reflect this.
Colossus 2 Posted May 10, 2005 Exellent, UZO problem solved and a lot of other problems I have been irritated about. BTW: Not so happy about it but I'll show it anyway.

Winters 1 Posted May 10, 2005 I have recently run into a save game problem after installing some of the mods, i am no longer seeing any of the saves when i try to launch a saved career. Im not sure which one caused it but i added the Kegetys res mod, Das Boot officers mod and a camo scheme texture for my boat. Does anyone else have a problem with saved games? Colossus 2 Posted May 10, 2005 I hope this patch doesn't have any effect on the game if I have the World Expansion mod. Any chance of that?

kevbaz 0 Posted May 10, 2005 im sure world mod 3 makes a back up, look for a backup folder?
Reginald 0 Posted May 10, 2005 I've run into the same problem as colussus. I really hope this doesn't warrant a reinstall. PS: Is there a World Mod 3? I only have 2.0.
Daddl 10 Posted May 11, 2005 Didn't you backup your data folder before installing the world mod? i don't think the world mod installer makes a backup, you have to do it yourself!
Colossus 2 Posted May 11, 2005 Noob failure by me Oh well, just have to reinstall then. Luckly I hope the saves don't need to be deleted. BTW, how do you make pic switching like you have on your signature?

Scrub 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Ok, Â never had something like this (thank God) in Drivers Ed. Â Went for my navigation exam. Â No problem, right? Â Sure, done it a million times... Right? RIIIIigghhht. Went on the bridge and set course SSE at standard like normal, Â listened to the spray off the bow, the seagulls, and those annoying little boats running through the little channel. The message came that I could navigate submerged and to chart a southerly course, and I left the bridge to look at the map. Â I quickly noticed that a contact was getting rather close. Â Using the protractor, I saw it was not going to collide. Â So I took my time getting back topside. Â My mistake. Â I checked a few things, clicked on the bridge and found that my contact was one of those little &@&$#% boats, and it had turned right across my path! Â I thought I was fine, as it was a bit ahead of me. Â Then I noticed the propwash, Â The bastard was BACKING UP! Â I hit 'hard port' and 'emergency reverse', but by the time the orders had been announced, we had crashed, the annoying boat had blown up, it's carcass scratched and screeched all the way down the side of my boat (ruining it's authentic 'rusted look' paint job, I'm sure ). The short of it: the annoying boat sank, I went on to get an 'Excellent' rating in navigation (go figure), and am questioning the AI's avoidance routines. What do they think they are? Â micro-destroyers? Â sheesh! "Pointy boats, so pointy-pointy, annoyeth me, anointy-nointy"
denoir 0 Posted May 11, 2005 What do they think they are? Â micro-destroyers? Â sheesh!"Pointy boats, so pointy-pointy, annoyeth me, anointy-nointy" Ah yes. On a patrol I used my last torpedo on a small merchant and it didn't sink. It was dead in the water, but still floated. I figured that my XXI was big enough to ram the bastard and I went full speed submerged towards its starboard side. I surfaced when I got really close. To my horror I then realized that the "small" merchant was considerably larger than my ship. I hit emergency back and tried to turn and dive, but it was all too late. I hit it with a speed over 10 knots. The damage was horrific - I sank like a stone. Fortunately I was in relatively shallow waters so I hit the bottom below crush depth. I barely managed to get the flooding under control and fortunately the compressor was repairable. The rest however was completely wrecked. I had no hydrophone, no radar, no radio. Three of the four batteries were destroyed. My hull integrity was at 18% - if I went over 4 knots, the flooding overtook the pumps and I would start to sink. I somehow managed to limp back to base. The "small" merchant was still happily floating when I left the scene.
Balschoiw 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Haha, had similar experiances with a troop carrier. I posted some pics of the rampage some pages back. It was almost turned over, the crew was standing under water at their guns and I took more than a scratch when I rammed it. Those are the moments where you wish you could pull out the small arms and throw some hooks on their deck to enter them. scroll down
