Best servers for public play?

Hello peeps,

I was wondering what servers does our ofp community mostly visit? Meaning, where do you hang out the most and why?

Is it because of the nice missions? The friendly people on the server? The addons they use? Come on provide the rest of the people with the ingredients for a nice place to hang around. Give a shout for the servers you visit.

This thread is not to argue amongst players, but simply to know what makes someone go to a certain server and hang out there. This so that the all out ofp community can learn and improve their servers. In this way the ofp community can benefit all together. What does the public have to say about this one. Why do you hang out at a certain server/servers?

I normally play on the Citadel, home of RR and PBC, ocassionally MCY, sometimes Zeus but 90% of the time I play its either in a league match or on the #DK# server.

Good missions, usually CTF's or Coop's (And ofcourse an RTS from time to time), Always stocked with good people during primetime, and an excellent variety of addons to play with!

Depends on what server has players waiting during those rare moments I can relax and play OFP.. sigh ;)

For WGL I go to Citadel, for casual CTI I go to one of 1-8th's servers.

i usually hock on to LOL server. Reason? Fun mission(not quite realistic though), Fun(but not so friendly ) people(remember: WE ARE CLOWNS ;o) ) wont kick people for stupud ping reason(baaaaaa~), and most of all: COOP ONLY(trust me you wont find any match map on that server)

would play on server in china(ping stricks again) such as SAM and TOB if i want to kill some non AIs in a old time stupid PvP(CTI is another thing) without TKing anyone

would like to get on zeus for some more nice mission(COOP and PvP) but hardly find any chance due to time zone issue(can do if i stay awake in 4AM and screw whatever things goin to do the next day)

The last few days I've been playing a bit on the AKF and BiH server with my friends. They don't really like coops, so it's mostly some kind of Battlefield type of map we play (Headquarter 1985 and BattleIsle). I wish more servers had those

Platoon server usually gives me pretty good pings, and is usually empty (ideal for taking over as admin).

Takes abit of waiting to set up your own game, but then noone can kick you for having a crappy ping (most OFP players actually seem very very selfish when there is ANYTHING that might threaten thier performance(by that i mean a player with 250 ping) )

funny that a so called "public server"  requires a password,

wouldn't that make it private? lol

anyone know where i can sign up for this "public squad" ?

this is exactly why I only play with people I know, and host matches myself..

there are no decent public servers anywhere... period

If not you should broaden your horizons and you would be surprised.

I agree that there is a lot of 'public' that sometimes drives us all crazy but we have found out the last 2.5 years that if you show dedication its very well possible to run a great public server.

It just takes time and efford!!

no, its a public 'accept for the 1.5 hour every two weeks we need it for a match' server.

The rest of the 334.5 hours its free for public even during training sessions.

all right.. i understand now..

must have been something else going on though cause i did try at three different times on two different days (yesterday and today, which is thursday and friday here) with the same results.

I did just check again however and did see that it wasn't locked anymore..

I can understand the confusion.

Someone forgot to unlock the server after a match.

i usually join the CIA server for a good game with FDF Mod.

also very important is tacticalblunder where lots of forum members happen to hang around.

played only 1 bigger coop on zeus yet and it was fun too..

the biggest disappointment with all the cool servers is that most of the times 2 or all 3 run at the same time, because then making the decision which server to join is hard.

The reason why some public servers have password, is just to keep the brainless players away. Usually you can get the password from an irc channel or from a website, so it's not a big deal .
