unfortunatelly vtol capabilities of planes in ofp are limited

so dunno íf we´ll make a vtol one

maybe one chopper like the other one like the jet

Better don't use Mach10 as ref, or you'll shoot over the island in 2 seconds ... biggrin_o.gif

Hi guys,

just wondering would it be possible to put the shoulder lamp on the marines and actually have it work, i know that it probably wont be easy but just a thought i was looking over a lot of old addons recently, i've literally got most addons that have ever come out (about 16 CD's and another 2 GB on my hard drive) and Inquisitor a long time ago attempted to make some soldiers with working flashlights. They basically worked but the light was a bit misplaced, but i really do think it's possible and would kick ass biggrin_o.gif . any thoughts rock.gif

Hey Neph/Manticore,

You could ask the Falklands Mod for permission to use the VTOL script from their beautiful Harrier.

The AI can't use it yet though, so you might need a second version, config-ed as a helicopter, visible in the mission editor. That way you could give an AI the standard dropship and they would fly it as a jet, or give them the "Heli" version and they'd use VTOL etc. Here's a link to d/l the Harrier:

Alternatively, you could just config the dropship as a chopper with speed boost using a set velocity script like the RAN Airwolf (though again, AI won't use the boost under their own initiative). Here's a d/l link:

Both these are essential downloads anyway - but don't go having too much fun playing with them wink_o.gif

ye i know this with the shoulder light and we work on this

about that vtol thingy

as i said before ofp can hardly deal with vtol

and aslong AI can´t switch between vtol and normal flymode

this would be rather impossible for doing missions where the dropship brings troops in an apc to the combat zone

bsides yes we have configed the dropship as a chopper

that makes sense, but it would be nice if there was a version with vtol and normal flight modes through the use of a script, but as I recall, the VTOL of the falklands harrier was very difficult to control.

m8, as far as I know its impossible to mount (working) lights on soldiers / weapons in ofp.

If you somehow manage to find a workaround Ill buy you a beer smile_o.gif

How are you going to model the lights on the Marines backpacks.. with all due respect to Der Bastlers excellent work... the original releases shoulder lamps were.. well to put it bluntly.. POO

But seriously, I would like to see everything that would capture the atmosphere of the film (if it is possible).

as a big aliens fan :P i would say you should look at the previous aliens games.

see where they excelled on atmosphere, and take from it.

(of course, they are far from perfect and you should steer clear of the crap)

its all about sound-effects, lighting and location.

an 'alien' envoirnment would be preferred. an over cast sky, raining, low fog fields. (perhaps a recoloured desert island with those recently released gravel piles as hills?)

the dropship being able to plant down the APC is a must. also a working motion tracker.

i have to say, i am very impressed with the work you have done so far.

i have designed several aliens games myself (i never really had the technical skill to put them into practice and AvP games are very mod friendly) i could send you some of my ideas and you could take a look. perhaps they could be of use.

ok dude a big sorry for the lack of updates

but i´ve been away over easter and had no time doing any ofp stuff

but i haven´t been lazy at all !

i made some sketches for buildings that will be released with teh island

if i get my scanner working i´ll post them here

as for the apc and dropship unload thingy

hehe u can alreaqdy wipe up ur drool

it works!

we realeas a video soon after we´ve redone the apc

as for the buildings i know this too...

thats why we can´t realize the aliens movie in ofp...

but

i we´ll make some lv426 like bulidings half ruined

so they can be enterd also by ai

an those in shape one will only be entered by u in the campaign
