somebloke 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Hey foot, if you ever do go back to making British aircraft, why not try a Javelin or a hawker hunter (i know this is one out there but i'm not too keen on it). i wish i could make stuff.......
miles teg 1 Posted March 7, 2004 I think actually somebody made a Hawker Hunter awhile back. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
somebloke 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Yeah i know, but it was a BETA, also i haven't heard much about it recently. If someone could re-trexture it, give it a bit of polish, new sounds and the like then i'd say we'd have a nice RAF fighter-bomber.
Footmunch 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Okay, final F-16 is up at: Homepage (As mentioned in the ReadMe - thanks to hitsqdzulu for MP testing, and HavocSquad for the extensive badgering ). Direct link: Zip File Not too many changes, except that the AMRAAM's now have proximity fuses - they are now _very_ dangerous missiles. Sadly, the nozzle animation and canopy animations have been removed - the scripting overhead was becoming too much (especially in MP). Also, F-15C Beta up at: Zip File The AMRAAM's on the Eagle also have proximity fusing. This plane is now _extremely_ dangerous. Work is progressing on F-15E, and a final Sabre. Bald_Maggot 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Wowser! I was simply blown away by these aircraft! Im very impressed witht the ease of handling and impressive array of weapons on the F-16 and F-15c. The cockpit on the F-15 was what did it for me, it was so detailed (and its only a beta!) Keep up the good work Footmunch you definatly lead the way when it comes to designing aircraft, ive never evan had so much as a bug when playing with any of your babys! Good Job  Edit: im also really looking forward to that Sabre...
havocsquad 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Can't wait to try it out, sad that the afterburner had to go, but tough decisions on that relating to MP had to be made. I'll get feedback on it soon as I have time to test.
Footmunch 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Havoc - Sorry, I wasn't clear - the burner speed up is still there, as is the AB flame. The thing that was removed was the animation (open and close) of the outlet nozzle itself. I'm not too worried about this, as it was animated with respect to the speed, rather than the engine revs. In real life, it's a complex combination of the two, and passing all that info across MP for a 'minor' graphical effect was not ideal. Sadly, I may be out of 'public' addon making for a while - check the Falklands progress thread  . Still, you never know what'll happen next...
somebloke 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Excellent work as usual footmunch, i love that F15 cockpit. If only they still used napalm.......btw, do you plan on doing any more old style jets, like your sabre or sea vixen.

AAAAhhhhh Nooooo!!!  Don't leave us Footmunch!!!  That's not cool when Mods take all the best addon makers and stuff never or rarely ever gets released.   I can understand how they may want you to devote all your addon making skills to their mod, but don't be bullied into that.  Do it only if you really want to do that.  If you decide to do so, then I think it will be a loss to the overall community.  I'm sure you'll make some great British and Argentinian aircraft but it would be sad not to have your wonderful international addons that are so useful to so many mod teams.  But I hope you at least finish your Vulcan.   I know the Falklands mod team isn't interested in it much (cuz its seen as just eye candy) but it was still used and I could defninitely make falklands missions with it.  Anyhoo...  I hope that the Falklands War mod team will at least consider releasing a demo pack or something.  Personally I think the BAS route of releasing invidual addons is better rather then hording addons for some giant mod release (unless the mod is done in a timely fashion and doesn't take years).  I think that the Lost Brothers mod team is moving towards doing this for example (releasing one or groups of addons at a time).  This way people stay interested and they can start making missions with what addons are already out there. hitsqdzulu 0 Posted March 8, 2004 WOW WOW. You get two wow's for the f16 and f15. These are some of the finest addons I have seen yet. I have been flying through the canyons of CAT Island and they handle like a champ. All I can say is great work foot. I'm sorry to hear about you possibly not making any public addons for awhile, but I'm glad you hooked up with the Falklands Mod. I can't wait for them to release it. Now with you helping out maybe those progress reports on their site will start to move lol. If you can please finalize the f15 I'm sure everyone would be greatfull. Anyhoo take care, goodluck and great job

somebloke 0 Posted March 10, 2004 I wonder if footmunch will be making an RAF Nimrod. There isn't one of them around.
Acecombat 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Footmunch dude all of your Airplanes rock , the latest F-15 is real good too but i have afew gripes with it. Can you make a animated canopy for the F-16/15 ? Please It adds a realistic feel to the addon. Plus why does the F-15's vulcan fires from the right side instead of the middle ? Is it a game engine abnormality or what? Thats all keep up the good work though
miles teg 1 Posted March 10, 2004 Probably because the cannon is on the right side. It's at the beginning of the wing root just behind the air intake on the right side. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
havocsquad 0 Posted March 10, 2004 I think the only two US aircraft that has a 20mm vulcan in the nose is the F-14 Tomcat (It's on the left side of the nose) and the F/A-18 Hornet and Superhornet (mounted in the middle of the nose) Every other US made aircraft that has a 20mm vulcan has it sitting farther back on the left or right side away from the nose. Gunpods do not count as being in the middle, they are not internally mounted.
somebloke 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Don't forget the A-10, although that may be a 30mm cannon.
havocsquad 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Please read posts a little more carefully, I was talking only about 20mm vulcan, not any other aircraft cannon.
somebloke 0 Posted March 10, 2004 well technically the vulcan is a cannon
somebloke 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Also did i hear the words Sea Fury mentioned a while back in this post? The sea fury is one of my all time favourite aircraft, the others being Sea Vixen, A-1 Skyraider, Sabre and Lightning.
havocsquad 0 Posted March 10, 2004 That was "20mm vulcan" not just vulcan, specifics can mean a big difference between two different weapons. Â Trust me, I've made that mistake of general assumptions about technical data and specs plenty of times. Â I also paid for it in frustration and in embarassment, so study up and check things twice before posting. They don't even have the same technical name. 20mm vulcan is the m61a1 or m61a2 The A-10's cannon is the Gau-8 30mm Avenger. Â It's based on the design of the vulcan, but is classified different because of it's primary purpose of ground attack. Just trying to clear up the confusion. Later, Havoc. Acecombat 0 Posted March 11, 2004 Footmunch please dont leave free lance work , otherwise who'd make the Strike Eagle version of this sexy beast Can we get atleast a black skin version like this (old version y deadsoldier)
Footmunch 0 Posted March 11, 2004 I think perhaps my previous statement was taken too seriously. Right now, for public release, I'm doing: F-15E version - this is taking a bit longer because of the 2nd cockpit - I will do that 'dark' skin. A model 'under contract' for a public release by a certain member of the community (vague enough?) Tidying up two (or maybe 3) of my original 4 planes. Seafury, Sabre and Vulcan. As well as mod work for Falklands, and another mod. And what happens? You guys try and tempt me with talk of Nimrods, Tomcats, Raptors, Lightnings, Hunters...... I won't be swayed, I tell ya! At least, not for a few weeks... Acecombat - Beautiful shots, BTW.

havocsquad 0 Posted March 11, 2004 Geeze man, if my comp tried to do that resolution, it would fall over with cardiac arrest and scream for pain. You must be using a NIVIDA 256meg poly making monster, I envy you. Â
