Matthijs 40 Posted February 3, 2004 Land, switch off engines, and choose "Rearm, refuel and repair". It will take 4 hours, in which the weather will change. Of course, it might still take a turn for the worst and you will have to wait again. "Repairing" also saves your game, effectively giving you infinite saves. Also tried to "crash" on the Malden mainland, and request a CSAR mission?
Doc. Zaius 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Excellent! I'm nowhere near finishing it, but I'm sure I'll spend the rest of the day trying to... My History teacher was a paratrooper, I'm sure he'll understand. Also, I dig the music during the rearm/refuel sequences.
Munk 0 Posted February 4, 2004 My computers to crap to run this, I get a CTD after the briefing. Can I request a 'light' version? This sounds like a damn good mission and I want to improve my pilot skills
bonko the sane 2 Posted February 4, 2004 very good mission, its a shame it has no intro, but its quite enjoyable and playable. Im like halfway through it (lost a savegame to my pc gremlins...) playing it with ecp, but there are 2 issues i have to mention: 1- im some areas the patrols are all dead when i get there 2- I boarded half a team (heli was full already) then when i came back to pick up the rest of that team ,they refused to board my heli. 3-(not a bug)the white smoke grenades are very hard to in lousy weather. Under no circumstances let your bloody AI gunner shoot your FFAR's or TOW's   Or u will run out of much needed and scarce ammo... Ill post this mission link at my squad's flight platoon forum, this is a extensive and compreensive exercise, well worth playing, Txs a lot Matthijs Edit: i took me a while to solve those Su-25's problem but i developed a "sistem"
Matthijs 40 Posted February 4, 2004 The mission is indeed quite heavy on resources. It's more a quick little try. Mission, game balance and scripts are still quite rough around the edges. I'm more a model maker than mission maker, and I made this mission to prevent myself getting sick of modelling. When I got to the point where an intro should be made, I was tired of mission editing. I'm going back to my GMPG tripod... If anyone wants to have a go and change it, by all means do. EDIT: A multiplayer version and/or a version with BAS choppers and, units on Tonal would be nice!! The teams will lie low, and fight when needed, but casualties are a fact of life in war. 2- Damn.... I'll have a look if I can find what it is. 3- Quite possible. One of the rough edges in game balance I guess.

theavonlady 2 Posted February 4, 2004 This is a nice S&R mission. When I bring back a team and they disembark, how can I get my chopper rearmed? Also, would you consider making a twin version using BAS' superb choppers instead of OFP's?
theavonlady 2 Posted February 4, 2004 When I bring back a team and they disembark, how can I get my chopper rearmed? Similarly, If I switch to the Apache and return back to base, using the 5-1 command menu sequence doesn't get the ammo truck moving in my direction. What gives? SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted February 4, 2004 I got a message saying "mission addon 88"  What could that be? It sounds like a good mission, but if it really needs a good system i should be avoiding it for now
Heatseeker 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Indeed, very hard to fly the bis blackhawk with the BAS ones in my mod folder, but there isnt a bas blackhawk (exept for the DAP) with mounted rocket launchers so it would require dramatic changes to the mission i guess. One time i found myself trying to pick a squad only to find myself empty of ammo and to see them being shot to pieces by 4 BMP's, very dramatic . I tried the csar and it worked well, but in the future i will avoid all actions that trigger that strange music...

Also, would you consider making a twin version using BAS' superb choppers instead of OFP's? If you landed on the H, cut the engines. You'll get a custom action. (Read the notes that come with the briefing lady... ;) ) From what I understand, F1yer is working on a multiplayer version that uses BAS choppers. I tried a quick conversion yesterday, but it will need extra balancing. BMP's fire on the BAS choppers, which makes it more realistich but MUCH harder. I myself would even prefer to have it on some top notch island with many good looking units, both friendly and enemies. Then again, there's sooooo much I want, and there's only 24 hours in a day. I uploaded a buggy version. 2 minutes after posting this message I changed the mission to a version that does not require "88.pbo" re-download I can confirm the bug where a squad of which not everyone ha been picked up, does not recognise the chopper as a ride home. Currently, I have no idea what goes wrong...
theavonlady 2 Posted February 4, 2004 [if you landed on the H, cut the engines. You'll get a custom action. (Read the notes that come with the briefing lady... ;) ) Ah! Read that but forgot to cut the engines. Quote[/b] ]From what I understand, F1yer is working on a multiplayer version that uses BAS choppers. I tried a quick conversion yesterday, but it will need extra balancing. BMP's fire on the BAS choppers, which makes it more realistich but MUCH harder. Yep. This is too easy. I managed to rearm the Apache by landing near the ammo truck. BMP2s are like putty in my hands! So, perdy perdy please put out a BAS SP version. Can't find any Shilkas or better yet how about some Soviet AA soldiers camping at strategic points. Quote[/b] ]I myself would even prefer to have it on some top notch island with many good looking units, both friendly and enemies. Then again, there's sooooo much I want, and there's only 24 hours in a day. I am very happy to use any of OFP's original islands. I think they're just fine. This is a WEST chopper mission. So what really makes an impression are the chopper addons that you use, not the Russian soldiers, rifles or even BMPs for that matter. I would also consider reducing the amount of choppers on that base. Looks a bit overdone, no?
Gadger 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Is the link dead, this mission sounds interesting, can somebody put up a mirror? Â edit* Never mind, its working now
Matthijs 40 Posted February 4, 2004 Can't find any Shilkas or better yet how about some Soviet AA soldiers camping at strategic points. As I tried to recreate Choplifter, it works more or less like this: The first sortie, it's you and the BMP's. After that, you may encounter a nasty jet. Then, there's a UFO... and that's one thing OFP didn't have. So I put in a few camping Strela units at random locations. Finally, I wanted some "boss" for the "level". Choplifter doesn't have that, but this mission has it: a shilka. It's not much opposition, but that's because the mission originally had no auto-save. Quote[/b] ]I would also consider reducing the amount of choppers on that base. Looks a bit overdone, no? Possibly... Choplifter has 3, so I started out with 3. Then added an extra UH60, because firepower was a bit low. Added the AH64 as it was still low. Then thought, "why not add the CH47 and OH58". And here we are... I'll see if I can do a quick BAS conversion.
Munk 0 Posted February 4, 2004 I got a message saying "mission addon 88" Â What could that be? Its a WWII flak cannon addon, I had this problem when playing The Lost Lion by Asmo with the I44 mod. Capitaine Haddock 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Wow... Nice mission I've been waiting for this type of missions since the game was released. I like the feeling of lying over a living island. Thanks a lot!
Konyak-2 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Great mission! I found one possible bug.. I had blown up some bmp´s and saw a crew running along on the ground, and decided to not waste a FFAR on them, so I landed, jumped out and shot them dead. When I got back in the chopper I got an error message with some crap about expected object and player this and that.. Sorry, didn't take a screenshot. Thought it would go away if I returned to base, but it stayed there. I'd really like to be able to get out here and there and clean up. I'd also really like to have a Coop version, in which other player is officer of the ground unit that is to be rescued. Survive till the chopper get's here and pop that flare. Think its possible to make one player switch between units like that, so that he effectively playes all the officers on the ground? Either way, having a load of fun playing it, and yeah, I had (still have) a C64, even had a Vic20 before that Konyak
bonko the sane 2 Posted February 5, 2004 yeah, a coop would be brilliant, 1 team for apache , 1 team for rescue chopper and 1 team to be rescued
Matthijs 40 Posted February 5, 2004 So, perdy perdy please put out a BAS SP version. Check the first post. New mission: Specops Lifter A co-op version is in the works. Someone else is working on it. Should be good, using BAS choppers with an armed escort. The rest of the players randomly commanding squads that are to be rescued. (Try to survive behind enemy lines, until the choppers will pull you out) I imagine that when you're safely back @ base, you will be respawned in the next squad leader. Also a small update on the other mission, to solve the "people not wanting to get in" problem. I have seen the problem with the error on the Getin event, but I can't find what it is. It seems to be some problem with timing. I added a 0.5sec delay in the BAS version of the mission, but I may have caused more harm than good. We'll see... john_mcclane 0 Posted February 6, 2004 On the BAS version, why are there two AH-60L's, and no MH-60K or MH-60L ships? The AH-60L can't carry passengers... Matthijs 40 Posted February 6, 2004 On the BAS version, why are there two AH-60L's, and no MH-60K or MH-60L ships? The AH-60L can't carry passengers... And the MH-47E at the base seems to be unflyable and unfixable. Â Also, an MH-6 would be much more appropriate than the AH-6... MH-47 had damage set to 0.9, that's why it didn't fly. Solved that. Still have to work on the unrepairable thing. New versions available. Check first post. I picked the AH because of it's firepower. <s>Had no problem loading passengers in the AH.</s> By your request, I changed one of the AH-60's to an MH variant. Remember this is a recreation of a platform game. There are hardly any soft tartgets. 90% consists of BMP's. I think you would have a hard time finishing the mission, with only one gunship. Also, repair isn't everything. Your craft may get damaged beyond repair.
john_mcclane 0 Posted February 6, 2004 Thanks for the mission update. As far as the MH-47 being unrepairable, I just meant that I couldn't bring a repair truck to it, and it was too damaged from the start to move it near a repair truck. Sounds like it's good to go now.
