Bkm pilot (working oxygen mask!!!!)

Iva from the BKM team has released the BKM teams BETA russian pilot, which comes with an O2 mask and Sun visor. Some scripts have been implemented so that if you fly without your O2 mask above 6000m you'll fade out and die.

I just tried it and it's a FANTASTIC addon!  Finally someone has made a working oxygen mask... something that's been LOOOONG overdue in my opinion.  Overall it looks pretty good and doesn't look too wierd when the pilot turns his head.  

Plus its removable as well which is cool and has an interesting script.  

Knitpicks:  

1. The Oxygen hose is too small.  It would be nice if it was a little bit bigger.

2.  We need AN INTERNATIONAL VERSION so that all the mods can use this pilot.   It would be awesome to have one with user-designated .paa textures for the arm patch.  Also the pilot should not have any sidearm so that the player can designate what kind of pistol they are carrying.  Either that or they should have one for West (Baretta), Resistance (Glock), and East (Tokarev or Czech pistol).  

This is a great accomplishment in OFP.  Once again another milestone!!!   OFP keeps getting better and better!!!

Also the pilot should not have any sidearm so that the player can designate what kind of pistol they are carrying. Either that or they should have one for West (Baretta), Resistance (Glock), and East (Tokarev or Czech pistol).

If it wasn't for the little Soviet flag on his arm it could actually be used as an international unit. I tried unPBO'ing the file to see if the flag texture was inside it and could be changed but it wasn't there. I know the BKM mod team are concentrating on Russian kit but hopefully they would consider releasing a 'neutral' version of this unit as it would be very useful for all kinds of aircraft missions.

Have a look at the config...

You should be able to find the "rus_vlajka.pac" texture which is using the default russian flag texture from the BIS flag pack.

If you set this value to another BIS flagpack texture,

ie. "\Flags\FlagName.jpg"

-----> "\Flags\Czech.jpg"

(Although I don't know if that pathway works in addon CPPs... it works for the mission editor SETFLAG textures...try it and see... tinkering is the best part..)

you should be able to change it to whatever nationality you want.

As for the unshaven russian face... can you do a

this setface "whatever face you want"

command?

Or is head not compatible with the setface command?

I hate it when it isn't... sad_o.gif

Anyway this addon looks good, I'll download it when I get home.

So you can just use a script in the pilot's init box to change the flag? If so what exactly is the script to change the textures?

You know what I'd like to see? The international model of this, along with perhaps implementation for ranks, with the settexture command. I'm tired of looking at a guy, and not having his rank discernable. You look at any guy in BDUs in the US Army or the Marine Corps, and you can tell instantly what he is if you know the structure. Just my two offtopic cents.

They don't have this settexture ranking function for pilots atm.

But you can get grunts with this feature.

Try the KMARNS international Soldier pack.

You can set the rank from private all the way up to colnel.

You can also set whether or not they can have goggles on or off and helmets on or off.

They're GREAT!!!

Oh bad news...

I don't think you can change the Flag texture at the moment. The P3D model is sourcing the flag DIRECTLY from the BIS flags. Which means you can't change it either in the *.PAC or *.CPPs or INIT stages. (There are no user-definable textures included) Which kind of sucks.

In any case his uniform needs a change of colour if it was to be an international model. (dark navy blue flight suit?)

So unless this thing isn't MLOD (which I doubt... I haven't checked really), I don't think you are going to be able to change this unless the folks at BKM are kind enough to make this open source. sad_o.gif

use texturep3d find Rus_vlajka.pac and than change it with USA_vlajka.pac save it and and stuff your pbo file wink_o.gif

Dont forget to change the pilot side to west wink_o.gif

Just a quick and dirty retexture WIP.   biggrin_o.gif -> Western Oxymask

I plan to have 3 versions of the pilot, EAST (White Helmet + Green Jumpsuit), WEST (Grey Helmet + Grey Flightsuit) and RESISTANCE (OD Green Helmet + OD Green Jumpsuit)

I will also change the faces so as the WEST pilot uses Victor Troksa, The Resistance Pilot will be Mixed Race and the Russian Pilot will stay the same.

I may also add oxygen mask initialisation sounds to accompany the Put on Mask commands... and perhaps visor lowering sounds as well...  

That's of course if I have the time..  crazy_o.gif
