dayglow 2 Posted April 6, 2004 tried to connect to different servers for around 30min with no luck. Hopefully in a day or two it will work so I can see if this game is worth getting.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 6, 2004 Bittorrent. Â Anyone tried it yet? I get the feeling that this game isn't gonna be much fun. I agree to a certain extent. The weapon-variety is gonna be nice. WHAT is awesome is the way in which you can customise the appearence of your soldier. Also I like the idea of having to earn bucks to buy better material. If someone wants a good download link I send you a site (and my password) but dont abuse it, I trust you! Fileshack seems to be OVERUSED right now
llauma 0 Posted April 6, 2004 I'm not impressed at all. Sure it looks pretty okay but so does OFP. The diffrence is the soldiers who has smoother animations. The waving grass is just visible 10m around you, beyond that it's just as OFP. The vegetation is nicer in OFP:R. It has quite many different weapons and you can choose between several kinds of jackets, helmets, boots, glasses etc. You can then pick the camo you want the eguipment to have. Just the fact that all players will have their own look makes it arcadish. You can even have a old hockey goalie mask and pink leather coat with green stars... Overall it's pretty much CS in a OFP enviroment.
ale2999 0 Posted April 6, 2004 Bittorrent. Â Anyone tried it yet? I get the feeling that this game isn't gonna be much fun. Can I have a link for that torrent, I cant find it on suprnova
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 6, 2004 what is wrong with that? there are either games that are bad copies of OFP or there are the ones that give me something I cant find in OFP but still make me wanna play OFP too.
iNeo 0 Posted April 6, 2004 You can make craters in the ground using explosives/tanks. Trees can fall and you can't walk through them, you can use them as roadblocks.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 7, 2004 I cant log on!
kevbaz 0 Posted April 7, 2004 took me a good hour to get into a server, kept getting timed out errors, when i finally get in i was hughley dissapointed, far to much of a arcady and bunny hopping cs kids game. not for me thanks
nyles 11 Posted April 7, 2004 Thank god the game is a flop. It plays like BF1942 arcade crap mixed with some pseudo realism stuff, which actually adds even more to the arcade gameplay. There are some few nice things like the water surface effect (although it is nothing really special) or the customizable soldier model, but overall it is just one big disappointment compared to what was said the game would be. BF:V is crap, JointOps is crap and now it is confirmed that Soldner is crap, too. Heh, doesn't look like BIS has to worry - which is good.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted April 7, 2004 I'd love to tell you how I feel about the game, but I can't get into a fucking server. Period. Tell me if this makes sense: Connected... Launching Game Waiting for Authorization to Launch Game ... ... ... Launch Successful Connected to Game Server OnPreconnect() Send Challenge(1) ... Send Challenge(125+) CMDAckChallenge ... ... ... You have been disconnected. This entire process can take 15 minutes- you're lucky if you just get disconnected right away. And then they have the balls to have a "Buy it Now" Splash Screen as you exit the demo. The mind literally boggles.

ebud 18 Posted April 7, 2004 I usually give "the benefit if the doubt" to just about every game, but this thing stayed on my HD for less time than it took to DL it I honestly could never even get to a game. And just from the looks of the soldier standing around, it looks to arcady for me... sort of like Far Cry. Just not my cup of tea. I had such high hopes. king homer 1 Posted April 7, 2004 well....played it for ore then 15 mins (yeah i connected on a server!!!!!) driving (better lagging) through a forest with a tank (looking like a bradley, but textures like brown sh**) crashing against a bush (!!!!) the fucking tank took damage?!?! also there is no 1st person for vehicles, and no zoom, helicopters are flying as bad as in Battlefield Vietnam... the weapons are okay, only the crosshair is annyoing.. thought it would be a much better game.. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 7, 2004 try this game instead (its fun) http://images.military.com/Games/0,14424,game01_q01,00.html my results Quote[/b] ]The following correct answers are based on the actual decisions that were made in the SEAL operation: 1. Sit still for a while and familiarize yourselves with the surrounding jungle. Special Forces soldiers need to be very sensitive to their environment. By adjusting to the typical sights, smells, and sounds of your surroundings, you will be much better prepared to notice any changes. An unusual smell of food or suspicious snap of a twig could be signs of an approaching enemy. 2. Order one of your men to creep to the hut containing the black box, ensuring that "the coast is clear." Surprise and superior knowledge of the battle scene are essential in any special operation. You are still undetected: an ambush from as far away as you are (100 yards) will not be very effective with only seven men. Sending your VC defector forward would be too risky. And having the entire team rush into the village without guaranteed stealth would be too risky - you might all be captured or shot at once. With one scout leading the way, you will still maintain the advantage of surprise, and even if he is caught, you will only lose one man. 3. Enter quickly and shoot all the enemy soldiers now. The element of surprise has gotten you this far - now that you are on top of the enemy, it is time to take advantage. In a situation where you are outnumbered and will quickly encounter resistance, it would be futile to do anything other than eliminating your enemies immediately at every opportunity you have. 4. Demand that the helicopters land in the rice field, and even threaten to shoot them down yourself if they are reluctant to comply. Evacuate both SEAL teams immediately. You have achieved your mission's prime objective by capturing the black box. What's more, though you have two injured men, you still have not suffered any fatalities. However, as a small team, you don't have enough ammunition to counter the larger force approaching you, even with the backup SEAL team. In short, if you do not get out now, most likely you will never get out. Success in Special Ops means knowing when to wait, when to attack, and when to leave!
