ExtracTioN 0 Posted February 17, 2004 In the movie Bad Boys2 there is a Coast Guard Jayhawk flying above a speedboat Will Smith says to pilot bring em down and they shoot the motor of the boat was that a HH-60 jayhawk I cant remember it I got the movie but in holland at my home and i return to holland in about 10/12 days so cant remember what chopper it was, I send my brother a mail so he watch the movie and tell me what chopper it is
dm 9 Posted February 17, 2004 key word there is: movie Like BHD, the movies are not allways accurate. I'd be more inclined to trust websites like FAS or the USCG site, over a hollywood movie...

ExtracTioN 0 Posted February 17, 2004 Can I trust this news http://www.navyleague.org/sea_power/aug_03_33.php It says: Armed Angels The success of the HITRON's armed helicopters paved the way for the Coast Guard's decision to arm all of its HH-60 Jayhawk and HH-65 Dolphin helicopters with machine guns in support of the Coast Guard's increased homeland defense role. The Coast Guard sought help from the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to design and install flexible mounts for machine guns on the helicopters. At the request of Lt. Cdr. Lorinda Couch, the Coast Guard's HH-65 system manager, NAVAIR's Coast Guard project coordinator, Robert Blevins, took on the task of designing, installing, and testing gun mounts for the helicopters. With the assistance of the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Ind., Nick Patregnani, an engineer assigned to NAVAIR's Air Vehicle/Store Compatibility Division, served as lead test engineer for the installation of M240D machine gun mounts for the HH-60J and HH-65B. "One unique aspect of this testing was that the HH-65 is a commercial aircraft, so it was not built for arming," Patregnani said. "There was never the intent for that until now. It presented an interesting challenge for us." Because of a common airframe design with the Navy HH-60H armed helicopter, the design of a gun mount for the HH-60J was less complicated. NAVAIR's testing of the armed HH-60J and HH-65B included ground fit tests, ground test firing, captive-carriage-of-fire tests, and in-flight live-fire tests. NAVAIR engineers also added flashing blue lights to the helicopters, as well as night lighting on the aircraft to illuminate the Coast Guard logo. The armed HH-60J is scheduled for vulnerability assessment in September 2003. Potentially as many as 170 H-60J and HH-65B helicopters will be armed with M240D machine guns. Funding has not been fully determined yet.

dm 9 Posted February 17, 2004 Again, you need to look for kew words, like Decision and Potential. As it stands, reconmercs is correct. So far, the ONLY Coast Guard helo to have any form of armament is the MH-68.

Quote[/b] ]Armed Angels The success of the HITRON's armed helicopters paved the way for the Coast Guard's decision to arm all of its HH-60 Jayhawk i dunno to me that seems like enough proof  and miles saw the clip too so that proves im not totaly crazy  you know what i say? i say make an armed version anyway. with an M2 in the door like u did with your SH60 and if ppl bitch and moan just tellem "its a fictional version" and they can get over it  also note that unlike the other armed forces the USCG isnt too keen on providing too many pictures and data on thier assets. even thier website makes no mention of the MH68 having weapontry. so the fact is unless we have a USCG member in this community we gotta use guess work and small news clips such as this one as "facts" thats why i say we just "wing it" and put a 50 cal on it and say the hell with it. ExtracTioN 0 Posted February 18, 2004 But shall I use a 50 call or a M240D I the article they say M240D.
miles teg 1 Posted February 18, 2004 Either is fine with me. A .50 packs more punch and can penetrate through more of a boat and has longer range, but still an M240 can do quite a bit of dammage and is fine for the ranges that targets are generally engaged at by the helicopter crew. In OFP it doesn't really make much difference except for greater dammage values for the .50 cal bullets. In other words you can sink enemy ships faster with the .50 cal. So perhaps the .50 cal would be better suited for OFP unless the goal of the mission is not to sink a ship but to shoot out the crew members on a terrorist or drug running ship. So, I'd be happy with either machine gun. I mainly want to see an armed vision just to be able to use it different types of missions which would require the use of a machine gun. Pappy Boyington 0 Posted March 23, 2004 Does anyone have a working link for the H-60 seahawk ?Thnx   no actualy he is working on updateing them if ya just want to wait. if not use ofp.info. if that dont work... ladies and gentalmen of the OFP community. with this addon i was inspired to make up a USN pack for you all. Included is- Ships: *USS Ashland LSD (tow) *USS Nimitz CVN (hawk) *Tiger Patrol Boat (col klink) ------------------------------ Men: *Admiral (drw) *Navy Seal (coc diver) *Carrier Crew (drw) -blue -green -red -yellow -purple *ITA Pilot (g8) ------------------------------ Aircraft: Helos- *UH-1 (seb) *CH-53 (scorpio) *HH-60 (extraction) Planes- *F/A-18 Hornet (hudson/pennywise) *F-14 Tomcat (hawk and ?) *AWACS (g8) ------------------------------ Misc: CoC Torpedos i made none of these addons and contributed nothing to any of them. i only packaged them up for conviencace. 35.7MB Download Here i updated it with the new carrier and the new F14 and added in a "demo" mission but its nothin really just a small fleet setup and the carrier has the planes placed on it in a nice orderly fasion. oh and 2 Su25s attack your fleet too but the aa defense seems to handel them well Edit: i added the config changes so the missles and vulcans become more realistic. and fixed the build script so that the carrier now works in MP. and updated the demo mission so both hornets are right on the catapult i got it in the USN pack. those are your only options
