hellfish6 7 Posted January 20, 2004 You can't say that the Democrats don't have a strong candidate - it's far too early for that. Also, nobody thought Clinton was a strong candidate and he made it to the White House. And I think you also underestimate how many people are really, really angry about Bush. I wouldn't be suprised if there was a higher than normal voter turnout this year. Despite that, I hate to admit it but I think Bush will win.
Cloney 0 Posted January 20, 2004 I think we should get Al Sharpton to run for the White House. In all seriousness, I'm not particularly thrilled with what Bush is doing but I think with another 4 years he might be able to set things straight. (Or fuck things up more). If a Democrat does win I hope he has the common sense to atleast finish the job that Bush started.
EiZei 0 Posted January 20, 2004 IIRC all the "serious" democratic contenders have said that withdrawing from Iraq is not a good idea.

m21man 0 Posted January 20, 2004 Quote[/b] ]That realy sounds like a hell lot of taxes to me! I am not a socialist but did you ever notice how few people in the US possess more than 70% of total wealth in the US. YOu would be surprised. Gee, and they only pay something like 95% of the taxes . Edit - The US, where a large percentage of our "poor" are the size of tanker trucks .

EXTRA SIZE for cars, ´funerals, cinema chairs, hotels, toilet-seats, napkins,..... oh hell that is where money can be made!
Major Gripe 0 Posted January 20, 2004 I hope Bush wins, I mean imagine how boring the world will be without him, plus watching Fox news won't be the same.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 20, 2004 Since the elections in Iowa it looks as follows (oh the second category is the amount of delegates) Kerry 38% 17 Edwards 32% 15 Dean 18% 7 Gephardt 11% 0 Kucinich 1% 0 (did you know that you can get penalised in Iowa for deliberately mispronouning IOWA... or was it Idaho? )
denoir 0 Posted January 20, 2004 Bush will probably win. There are a plenty of people that watch FOX and think that Saddam Hussein gave bin Laden WMDs and instructions to attack the WTC. Â Seriously, I've come to a point where I really don't care either way. The Iraq war has already happened, so there is nothing to prevent there. Due to the aftermath and to the fact that the US forces are too streched, it won't happen again any time soon. If there is a new president who is nice to the UN and to the world, people around the world might get the idea to help out. And then I'll be spending my tax money to give USA a good precedence for invading other countries. Yeah, just switch president and everything will be ok, no matter what you have done. Sorry, but some collective responsibility must be taken. The 75-80% Americans that supported the war have now really got the chance to show their support by opening their wallets and paying for the party. If Bush stays in power, the chilly relationship with the EU will probably continue and USA will end up paying for the entire reconstruction, as would be right. Second, I like that Bush proposed a space-program. It's likely that a democratic president would immideately cut the funding for any extraterrestrial adventures. I think a grand US space mission would also inspire our local ESA boys and girls to embark on bigger missions. Bush wins: I get perhaps to see a man on Mars within my lifetime. The Euro becomes even stronger against the failing dollar. USA takes the full consequences of starting a war of agression. Democrat wins: I end up paying for a war I was against. So, in short: removing Bush is good for America, but I'm not so certain that my own interests coincide with what is good for America. Internationally, I don't think Bush can do any more damage than he already has. And it's not like removing Bush is really going to change much. As long as there is a religious conservative right wing that is strong enough, America ain't going nowhere in terms of social progress.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 20, 2004 That approach sounds like fun If Bush wins The dollar will get weaker and I might finally be able to afford a trip throughout the US. I might see a human on Mars during my lifetime, but I doubt I will see him back on earth again. (his return-ticket is likely to be cancelled, I dont trust 2015 technology enough for such a long trip) We will see some new strategic constellations on our planet. I wonder what they gonna be like. Bush wins and Blair is likely to fail. How is the new british leader gona work with Bush and vice versa. We gonna see new funny terms, such as "french terorists" and Freedom cars (made in US), freedom exchange rate (weak dollar). "Patriotic act of total information awareness" you have to lay open how often you thought about criticising TBA and you will be registered in case you buy non-american products. Gun laws will be erased. School children will be asked to bring light UZIs to school for self protection. BBC will be forbidden to broadcast in the US, only FOX will be allowed to show in public places including hotels and public waiting rooms. The US military will be "prepared" for intercontinental battlefields. (whatever this may be! ) If Bush looses. Michael Moore will turn unemployed cause noone needs to read his books anymore. The entire US will blame TBA for the war in Iraq On the day of the election I will run around the universities and see whether there is a party of americans offering me free booze! bn880 5 Posted January 20, 2004 Screw it, I'll go with Democrats. It would fit in better with my other predictions. I like this reverse psychology you two are using. (no return trip, that sounds horrific...)

m21man 0 Posted January 21, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Gun laws will be erased. School children will be asked to  bring light UZIs to school for self protection. Somehow I doubt that. Maybe he'll retract some of the laws. Besides, a mere light Uzi won't help you in an inner-city slum (Look carefully, you can sometimes see fortified drug houses with slits that looks suspiciously like gunports). Quote[/b] ]The entire US will blame TBA for the war in Iraq No, they won't. Quote[/b] ]BBC will be forbidden to broadcast in the US, only FOX will be allowed to show in public places including hotels and public waiting rooms. Yeah right. Quote[/b] ]We gonna see new funny terms, such as "french terorists" and Freedom cars (made in US), freedom exchange rate (weak dollar). C'mon, we stopped with the freedom fries a while ago. ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 21, 2004 in US, it's ellectoral college that decides the president, not direct vote. so whoever can muster more EC will be president and that's what happened.

I agree, once the dems narrow the field, and a candidate emerges to start hacking away at Bush, that apporval rating is going to dip. Â These guys are going to start hammering his faults into the minds of the American people, any other tactic would be remiss.
