SpecOp9 0 Posted January 14, 2004 BIS, I propose you make all future Terminator games  But seriously, after seeing so many bad reviews about these games makes me wonder. How could such a group of great movies be credited with a bunch of crappy games? Just look at these reviews: Terminator: ROTM (PS2)
mr burns 133 Posted January 14, 2004 way back in time .. when cpu´s didn´t need active cooling .. there was a great Terminator game, called: T : Future Shock
SpecOp9 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Ahhh, well it's made by Bethesda. They are great great devs
ozanzac 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Well, Atari (the distributor) did the un-imaginable in Australia. It released every T3:ROTM without the CD key. My freind was (luckily), one of the first to find out. He works in a game shop, took it home. Realised there was no CD key. Checked another box. No CD key in that. Rang Atari. They said they screwed up big time. So took every T3 copy off the shelves. Not the best way to distribute a game, IMO.
svendejong 0 Posted January 14, 2004 The great thing about well made action movies is that they are not all about big explosions and gunfights. As long as you dont care at all about the characters in the movie all the effects and action in the world can't make the movie work. The really great action movies (blockbuster type) had all in common that they made you care (more or less) about what happened to the main characters. This is hard to do in a game unless you create a complex believable world (like the first deus ex) where the player has the feeling that it actualy matters what choices he makes. To make a terminator, die hard or matrix etc etc game you need to spend a lot of time introducing the character so the player feels emotionaly attached to this character. This is in my opinion very hard to do.
the editing man 0 Posted January 14, 2004 I know in the past there was a game with Robocop v terminator. I heard that the new Terminator: ROTM (PS2) is ugly like hell. Poor textures, in these days you can get much better and high quality FPS then terminator. I wouldn´t recommend it
Munk 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Terminator: ROTM was a bitch to control and without cheats I ran out of ammo every 2 minutes That game just sucked! Im glad my brother paid for it Edit: Changed one letter
shadow 6 Posted January 14, 2004 I bought the pc-version (War of the machines) and thought it was like the tv-commercial said (like the ps2-version). I was prepared to play as Arnie following the plot in the movie but nooooooo...... The pc-version is a crappy rippof from Unreal Tournament type game. No SP at all. Needless to say, I went back to ebgames and returned it. Got a refund-card and used that on LO-MAC when that came.
m21man 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Quote[/b] ]I know in the past there was a game with Robocop v terminator. Oh yes, it was one of my favorite games when I was younger. Lots of blood .
SpecOp9 0 Posted January 14, 2004 I think a Terminator mod (done right) would be good. Â ...ive been thinking of it.. not for OFP, but for Half-Life 2. ozanzac 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Worst part is, I think they now handle the Australian distribution of Codemasters published games. If they screw OFP:2's release up down here. I'll invite the BIS team to sue the hell out of em and lead a class action for compensation.
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted January 14, 2004 I think a Terminator mod (done right) would be good. Â ...ive been thinking of it.. not for OFP, but for Half-Life 2. A Terminator addon is available already
Judge Rabbi 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Future Shock? Terminator : Skynet was way better IMO. Also Terminator 2 on the Commodore 64 was solid, but cool.
GoOB 0 Posted January 14, 2004 The old Terminator arcade games were quite fun, I spent alot of money on one last summer. That games developed to follow/be faithful to the way the movie works is really hard to pull off. It is the same with turning a book into a movie. The film media has so many more ways of enthralling the viewer, in turn we have the same things with games. A game that employs good story writing, character design and enviroment creating is generally a good one. However a game where you go from level to level all you are gaining is new weapons for each becoming more and more "badass" those games are generally just not worth a penny in my opinion. The best way to apply a game to a movie, book or something similar is to set the game away from the events in the book or movie. It's hard enough to please readers of a book when they see a movie based on the book, imagine trying to fulfill the reader of the book, the viewer of the movies fantasy on what the world is like. They are actually supposed to be in it, not just sitting idly by and watching. Thus making the world credible in terms of person-person relations and other things is even more important. Game developers with licenses don't use them fully, the smartest thing to do would be to ask the movie makers on help how to portray the world, and convey the story of the movie to the gaming audience. But I feel original stories work best, as only a few games based on movies have pulled it off and become great games.
KJAM 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Quote[/b] ]The best way to apply a game to a movie, book or something similar is to set the game away from the events in the book or movie. yeah i agree........same timeline, same universe but different places and events, take the Star wars series of games for example, not once have i thought they were crap (well cept maybe TPM but it was still good)
SpecOp9 0 Posted January 15, 2004 I think a Terminator mod (done right) would be good. Â ...ive been thinking of it.. not for OFP, but for Half-Life 2. A Terminator addon is available already Yea.. but it's a bit crappy. Mostly compared to the new one black baron is working on. Anyway.. I heard Terminator 4 will have Dwayne "The Rock" Jhonson in it. And no Arnold becuz he had to be that damn govenor. Lol.. so I made a pic.
shadow 6 Posted January 15, 2004 I heard Terminator 4 will have Dwayne "The Rock" Jhonson in it. Â And no Arnold becuz he had to be that damn govenor. eeeh where did you hear that? Probably the poorest excuse of a rumour I've heard And if it did contain any truth to it I'd say T-3 was the last of the Terminator-series. Only Arnold can be a terminator IMO
SpecOp9 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Nope, Terminator 4 is definately in the making. I mean cmon, what did John Connor say at the end of the movie ? "The war has just begun" movies.com Quote[/b] ]Arnie himself has said that The Rock is someone who could fill his Terminator shoes. Should be interesting. I think it would be pretty cool to have The Rock as a Terminator. Â But still, a terminator movie will never be the same without Arnold...
Munk 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Anyway.. I heard Terminator 4 will have Dwayne "The Rock" Jhonson in it. Â And no Arnold becuz he had to be that damn govenor. WHAT THE F***?!?! That sucks! It wont be the same without that accent!
Tamme 0 Posted January 15, 2004 NO to Terminator 4! T3 was excellent and it's a perfect ending for the series. And without Arnold it's not going to work. I really hope they don't ruin a great series with a totally unnecessary sequel. Please don't make it, please please please please....
Gollum1 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Please don't make it, please please please please.... OK ok we won't! Â LOL! Anyway, I didn't think T3 was that special compared to 1 and 2 ( ), and a non-traveling back in time movie in the future would be interesting, but it wouldn't be Terminator, for...some reason. m21man 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Only Arnold can be a terminator IMO Yeah, but pretty soon he'll have to emerge from the time warp in a wheel chair . Quote[/b] ]T3 was excellent and it's a perfect ending for the series. IMAO, T3 was terrible compared to T2. R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted January 15, 2004 WHAT THE F***?!?! That sucks! It wont be the same without that accent! The Rock did a pretty good impersonation of Schwarzenegger on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
m21man 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Quote[/b] ]The Rock did a pretty good impersonation of Schwarzenegger on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. But he needs an authentic Austrian accent to be a good Terminator .
