Helicopter sniper

I'm not a very good addon maker and I think this idea has been suggested many times before.

But couldn't you make a helicopter that can be fired out of. One of the BAS littlebird helicopters has a gunner shooting a gun out of the window. Couldn't someone just do the same but insted have a sniper at the back of the heli

Yes, someone probably could make that, but it most likely wouldn't be that realistic. IRL, I'd bet it be pretty difficult to shoot a rifle accurately from a helicopter.

You can snipe from the back of a BAS chinook when its stationary in the air.

just mess around with the helo's config to give you some super zoom through the gun sights - thats if it has any when you press "v". some choppers dont have this. BAS' H-60's have pretty good zoom - but snipping with that mini gun?

The IDF have a special sniper team that work from Blackhawks.

They've also developed a special platform that assists the sniper by absorbing vibrations.

Sniping out of a hovering helicopter's probably not too hard for someone with the training, but shooting and hitting someone from a moving helicopter with a bolt-action or even a semi-automatic rifle would be very difficult, I'd imagine.

Snipeing from a heli allows you to take out a target and escape very easily. Plus, it just plain looks cool

Well SWAT uses that tactic to some times.

Like a Raid from above: Sniper stays in. Chopper drops off Swat team. Sniper in chopper got's a bird view from above and shoots down evry thing that is Enemy.

There are some advantages... you have a birds-eye view, you don't have to lie in the muck, and if there's something in your way, you can circle round

The US Coast Guard uses the RC50 rifle out of its Dauphins to shoot the engines of drug runner boats. Seems to work pretty well for them, looks pretty sweet too.

Also good when securing cargo ships, open areas with no means for regular snipers to get high enough to get a spot on the enemy. And it will sure as heck put a few heads down.

ok on this topic i must again be the voice of reason ...first of all its not a Dauphin. It's an USCG Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) MH-68A "Enforcer" Version of the Agusta A-109E Power. Nice Ships. America's first and only airborne law enforcement unit trained and authorized to employ Airborne Use of Force or AUF. Also the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department is trained in the use of the MP5 from the Observers seat on the MD-500. but ok back on the topic first and foremost Heli-Borne snipers rarely engage targets with a typical sniper style. Snipers offer a VBSS team or ground based unit 3 things .. 1. a trained set of eyes with a high level of marksmanship. 2. give the team leader another tool as opposed to the minigun or a mounted MG on the support Aircraft. 3. it gives the AC commander less work load in the Comms department ...

I don't think it would be very dificult to do, just change the onboard weapons of the BAS armed littlebird to a sniper rifle with telescopic site when you hit the "Weapon sight" key, and your done.

One word... Miniguns...

You try hitting ANYTHING with a normal rifle, let alone a sniper rifle with a powerful scope, the vibration and the movement just wont give you chance to hit the target... Thats why most helicopters are armed with machine or mini guns, so the high RoF compensates for the relative lack of accuracy.
