So it's not about being an ass. it's about respect. it's about getting it right to honor those who put it on the line everyday and those who have given all they could for brothers in arms. getting it right for guys like Gary,Randy and Cliff. Delta's,Ranger,Seal's and Force Recon are just words to you. And to us they all fall under one word. bugkill 7 Posted January 15, 2004 ok, this the point that the original author of this thread is trying to make. he asking if is possible that the helos be allowed to have "shooters" fire from the cargo area. now, it is true that special operations forces and swat use the tactic where a team assaults an objective (oil platform, prison, or various other compounds) and snipers provide aerial cover for the team. these shooters are very accurate and use different types of weapons, the fact is a hovering blackhawk is stable enough for a shooter to provide precision fire and support (give warnings or take out escaping tangos). i think people are getting a bit confused between a sniper firing from the treeline, from a sniper doing urban assault operations. here is an example that most of you can identify with. the scene in "blackhawk down" when they captured aidid's money man, where they fired from the blackhawk and put a hole in the engine block was not hollywood (the movie was), that incident truly happened (not sure if it was for that specific target, but it did happen). they pulled off the first takedown from a helo in somolia and most people don't even know that it happened. i hope that BAS would modify their helos to allow a shooter from the cargo area to fire from their blackhawks. it is realistic and would be a nice addition to making missions.
