Starship troopers mod released

Just saw the news over at ofp-base

At last the Starship Troopers Mod has been released. They said it would be released before christmas and they just about hit that deadline (unless you're in Australia or such of course). The Mod includes Marine units, Bugs, Vehicles and Objects (walls and landing pad). Be sure to read the ReadMe for info on the Bugs. You may download the pack in RAR format (9.7MB) from here, or in ZIP format (12.8MB) from us below.

I just have d/l it. When i run the game i got MSG that some *.paa not found. And also there's no campaign or mission sad_o.gif

And bugs do not attack. Maybe something wrong got into arhieve? sad_o.gif

From the readme with the pack:

WARRIOR BUGS

1. To get the warrior bugs to attack at any time put a load of bugs on the map

2. make a trigger with the name "SST_Bugs" case sensetive it takes time to activate so make sure it goes off in advance

I know it works with a trigger when activated by West present then after a while they come after you

as i know it is only a beta which to show some idiots what they have made, i think they will still have some improvnments coming

Looking good guys, though it would be nice to have some of the bugs flattened out smile_o.gif

I would like to see a custom blood script added to the bugs, green/brown squirts would be nice to see. You could also make larger units bleed more.

I think it would have been better to release ONE Mobile Infantrie Unit and the Warrior Bug.

Ok, it´s a first beta and a nice xmas present, but what about the M16 sound and iron sight?!

But keep up the good work, this could be big fun!

The air units have west pilots as default and also there's some invisble dropship that gives you a CTD.

The drop ship is under it's own vehicle class by itself.

yea um i found a bug... but i promptly shot it a few hundred times biggrin_o.gif

just the stuff mentioned. the CTD on the drop ship thingy. im gonna go test the buggs coming after me thing. this should be fun. bug vs me with M249 feck thos morcarbs, ill take a conventional 249 anyday biggrin_o.gif or INQ_OICW equiped with nothin but 20mm nades. ye-ha

ok i did that trigger thing... and those bloody varments ate my hummvee equiped with a .50cal >_< with me narowly escaping the explosion that took the bug with it. but still.. it ate my hummer mad_o.gif ah well ill jsut write it off. damn thats fun.

The Powersuit Infantry needs some serious medeling. tounge_o.gif

And could you make some nice death animations for the bugs? They look like static objects when they fall to the side. wink_o.gif

Haha, what a fun mod, I never thought that it would be pulled off! biggrin_o.gif

Great work on the bugs, not-so-great on the weapons and the troopers could be better, but hey, it's a beta!

The bugs really lag my computer up BTW, if I have just 13 of them running at me my FPS slows to a crawl! crazy_o.gif (1 ghz)

Even if I have all of them at zero skill, but when they die the FPS goes back up again. A side effect of big units with complex anims, I guess...keep tweaking and working on it, this mod is really something original and has potential! wink_o.gif

Oh and another thing about the SST movie...why didn't the humans use any armor? (I've read the book, but I'm talking about the movie) Just an APC with a few 20mm miniguns could keep any stream of bugs at bay for as long as the ammo lasts, and I doubt the bugs could rip a tank open with claws. rock.gif Ah well, tight budget? Eh...

Those damn bugs have just eaten my Abrams! wow_o.gifcrazy_o.gif

The best weapon against them was the Vulcan. It really lags pretty much when they attack, so we can't have the same bug slaughter action as we hed in the movie. sad_o.gif

It's really easy to let them attack. Just set up a trigger activated by west and name it SST_Bugs. Of course some western unit has to be in the range of the trigger to make the bugs attack. wink_o.gif

i spend 200rnds form INQ_M249 into it killing only 2 bugs at near pointblank. adds alot of challange. especialy when your goin agasitn 30 of them.

oh if yall cant figure out how to do the mission. copy this into a mission.sqm file

That mech that the BOH mod made is perfect for fighting a horde of them! Using the minigun rules. Great mod so far. Love to see some nukes in it.
