Nogovan army?

Recommended Posts

If you have good eyes you can make it out, its above his left temple.

I believe that we should establish some form of mod for this, just a loose group to get this done and make sure we're not doing anything over and over. PM me if that's a shit idea - Swear in any of 131 languages, I'll pick it out, and reply in kind if you don't like it, Yobanya Sooka.

About making them west side I just want to point out that that will mean that you'll have some black skinned people. No I'm not racist - but there aren't many native black skinned people in eastern europe ;)

I don't really care where you group them. I just tell it because you guys probably didn't take it into concern yet ;)

Yes, that means that we'll have to make sure we don't end up with the "Torso Skin" patch - like at the neck of a lot of T-shirts on mods now for some reason. Just cover all the exposed skin on the torso so we don't deal with some black dude with a white chest. That'd be odd to say the least.

Nice idea. At the moment I'm upgrading Everon with AGS Habor, Industy and the Baracks... but it's for a part of my own island.

I like it. "Modern Everon." Sounds damn good to me. I'd add in a bit more infrastructure too - roadways and cities should be improved a little. Perhaps work off those Default islands with upgraded ground texes would make it look damn good.

Another quick edit with Nogovan Oak. I also "borrowed" a sample pic from a previous screenshot in this thread for the beret and armpatch.

Again, this pic is  just my own editing for some visual ideas.

EDIT: the beret insignia doesnt show up but it matches the armpatch.

They look really, really good!

Here are some suggestions for special forces units or specialized units.

The history of Nogovan highland Rangers, founded as a huntsmans guild during the initial colonization of the Nogovan islands by a duke from Bohemia in 1689. The initial guild as it was then was a strong brotherhood woven tightly out of friendship, loyalty, honour and courage.

Over the years the number of militant foreigners grew, and in 1694 they were over 2000 in numbers spread out across Malden, Everon and Nogova. Small groups resisting the colonists arose, and one of those groups became the Nogovan highland rangers. The initial progress of these groups was very small, but a charismatic leader drew the people to his cause. Much like Victor Troska did many decades after these happenings. After four years of burning villages and lynching the foreign occupants they fled away defeated.

And Nogova was declared independent much thanks to the leader of the Nogovan highland rangers "M˙rek Blanko" who had fallen in one of the final battles. Since that day the symbol to represent Nogovas freedom has been the emblem of the Nogovan highland rangers a deer, many statues of this symbol can be found troughout Nogova to this day.

The Nogovan highland rangers were reformed as a militarry unit in 1986 after Nogovas third liberation from occupying forces. They were the reformed by a man who fought by the side of Victor Troska in the third war for liberation. And it was also one of the first military units formed as part of the NDF. They were stationed in the old Russian airforce base outside of Petrovice, in wich they recived their initial training from the US armed forces. The men part of this group grew to train other military units in the same fashion they had been trained. Later forming the Nogovan military academy led by the former presidents son.

Now the Nogovan highland rangers do not have a base. They are drafted from the men deemed most capable during basic infantry training. Then they recive further field training, the most important fields being: Tracking, shooting, demolitions, vehicle and aircraft recognition and camoflauge. This training period is a year and a half in length living in the wild without real beds, "real" food or other commodities. After training most of these men are reinstated into scociety as policemen or military officers. Ready to serve their country as a Nogovan highland ranger, should the need ever arise. Two annual trainings are held for these men each are two weeks in length.

The most capable graduates however are instated into the NDF fulltime, leaving family and other relations behind. Mostly living in the field and also organizing the two annual trainings.

The Nogovan highland rangers are issued a wide variety of weapons. Mostly by their request, however the NDF's tight budget result in most using the standard issue G3 with a wide variety of modifications done by the user such as affixed rifle scopes, additional heatshields and picatinny rails for easier field modification. Many of the rangers also prefer using old fashioned hunting rifles not relying upon firepower but on the knowledge of their surroundings and their excellent marksman skills.

Certain Highland rangers are also taken out of Highlander service to serve as regular army snipers and or demolition specialists.

Any feedback on that? More will come tomorrow smile_o.gif

EDIT: Ooooh! Modern Everon! Adding extra tenement houses and general infrastructure will certainly make this army more feasible. Also I love thos soldiers in Nogovan oak!

By all means, if anyone has a better name for the Nogovan special forces, spit it out! The Nogovan SAS was just something that popped in my head, but I think the Nogovan Highland Rangers sounds good, or something like the Nogovan Irregulars or the Nogovan Para-Commando Squadron.

In my opinion there should be more special forces squadrons. Perhaps one named "FIA" after the Resistance group who freed Nogova? But NSAS sounds good, perhaps any of our resident Czechs can come up with a good Czech name?

If Nogova was a Kingdom you could use the Nogovan Royal Guards but its no kingdom so that not going to happen

how about the Nogovan Task Force5 or for short NTF 5, just like Seal 1/8 then you will have NTF 1/5  biggrin_o.gif

For a small island, I think having 24 or so special forces troopers is plenty. Many larger countries don't even have that many.

how bout just plain ol Nogovan Rangers might not be a unique name but could work I also like the idea of a nogovan SAS regiment, question has it been agreed on that nogova will be seperate of the other islands? if that was the case a campaign could be against the island group of course that would be a whole new ball game biggrin_o.gif

Yes, ranger would make sense. historically, the hunters of such a country would have an important role in the defense.

What would "Ranger" be in the Nogovian language?

I would imagine the language to be some dialect, or hybrid of Finnish, Russian or Lithuanian.
