Daniel 0 Posted May 17, 2007 Great shots Earl! Especially the last one, very surreal. Has anyone got any advice on a good camera choice? I just want to be able to take high quality pictures when on holiday or if I get a random inspiration to take photos of the weather or something. But at the same time if I get into photography, I want to own something that can still do a decent job without having to spend another wad of cash on something that isn't really that much more expensive. If you get what I mean...? The Nikkon D40 looks pretty good in reviews, any opinions would be appreciated. Â

killagee 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Great shots Earl! Where was it? Looks like part of NZ... [CAS] Daniel: For the retail price of the D40 you could get a second hand D70... But yes the D40 is a great camera to start out on Sniper UK: What filter is that?

killagee 0 Posted May 18, 2007 This is not as dangerous as it looks... Cable release and timer essential.. And a flexible tripod. You get a few strange looks at the lights, and some people think you area speed camera when the flash goes off. Obvious tip: If your driving... Dont look at the flash when it goes off . I was after some stock images but I think I need to get the flash set up better and get the images sharper.
earl 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Nice, second one is the best. You're right, it's NZ on the Abel Tasman coast track. Holidays were far too short, and I saw far too little of the country.

the_shadow 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Daniel @ May 17 2007,20:20)]The Nikkon D40 looks pretty good in reviews, any opinions would be appreciated. yes.... if you have ANY experience in photography, go for a D80 instead... it´s worth the extra money.... i actually regret that i bought a D50 and not a D80 (D50 is replaced by the D40 wich is a bit cheaper) so if you have the money, go for the D80..... dm 9 Posted May 20, 2007 Went out for a mini night shoot tonight. Some of the pics could probably benefit from some better post-processing, but meh Bigger Ghost train Bigger Rather helpful car (this is that same level crossing which has been replaced by a bridge, but for some reason the gates and lights remain in place and permanently lit...) Bigger Train from the bridge. Bigger I was taking a 30 second exposure of the signal (it was about to change, wanted to try and get the red, amber and green in one shot) but I bashed the tripod, so I thought "nuts to it" and this is what resulted Bigger Looking over towards Northampton. Mmmmm twinkly.
