Acecombat 0 Posted November 23, 2003 New Destructive Virus Ever :- A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever n ever...! This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by Digital Virus Mcafee Company and no vaccine has yet ! been developed. This virus simply destroys Sector Zero (O) from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A Digital Card for You". As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer FreeZes .... so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Today in just a few hours this virus caused panic in many cities, according to news broadcast by (BBC) CNN. This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself. So don't open any mails with subject: "A Digital Card for You.." As soon as you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender!!! Get your AV's to lock and load .... pong2cs 0 Posted November 23, 2003 So the virus reacts to the user pressing the reset button? That sounds highly unlikely seeing as the reset button litterally goes in and cuts the power to everything once pressed. I doubt the virus can work with the power cut... But should it be so, you can just pull the cable to your HDD('s)... I'd pull the one with the most important data first.
bn880 5 Posted November 23, 2003 No it does not cut the power to everything, it forces a reinitialzation of the central processor and most other devices. There is no way that after that a virus can do anything to the HD sector unless it some how re-porgrams the BIOS or runs on OS load up. EDIT: Either way, this sounds a lot like a bogus report, or written with haste. Perhaps it is real then.

waffendennis 0 Posted November 23, 2003 Klick Klick.... My Pc is lock and loaded.... Comon little pesky.... But now: I am thinking about this for years: Maybe viruses are made by people of the Anti-virus company and spread them so evry one buy's a anti-virus program.... Maybe it's just a point where i am thinking about.... But i hope this will be over soon.
kegetys 2 Posted November 23, 2003 sounds like hoax, while some HD models do hold some important information in the first sectors, most hard-drives do not. And how does it "destroy" the sectors? Zero news about such thing in any websites that should have big headlines if it were true...
waffendennis 0 Posted November 23, 2003 i think people who start hoaxes need to be punished harder then the virus makers.... And i think the virus makers need to get a job at the Anti-virus company...

Blink Dog 0 Posted November 23, 2003 The only time I ever get viruses is when I have anti-virus software. If I ever do get one I'll just reformat.

Placebo 29 Posted November 23, 2003 Spreading hoaxes like this without checking reliable sources can be just as damaging and just as dumb as the actual viruses and virus makers.
